  4. I think the best way to determine placement will be for you to sit in the driver's seat while someone holds the mirrors on the doors and moves them around for you to check optimum viewing angles. They probably won't match up with any of the existing holes. Dennis

Since Esprist doesn't post dimensions on his web site or respond to the question quoted above, I'm going to guess a quite small diameter based on the size of the horn pad compared to the steering wheel spokes in the picture. Probably too small for my comfort. Just a guess, not a judgement. Dennis

  11. For me, A/C is a plus. As for the extra weight....it helps hold the front end down at highway speeds and doesn't keep you from attaining speed far above the legal limits. I've had A/C on my '71 Z since 1972. Dennis
  12. Sorry if I wasn't too clear in my original response to your question. If you're looking for public opinion, you're going to find that opinions are like belly buttons - everyone has one. Those who have stripes on their cars will really like them a lot and those who don't have stripes probably don't have them for what they feel is a very good reason. Like I earlier suggested, stripe just one side and live with it for a while. Most people won't realize only one side is striped. See which side you prefer after a given period of time. Then, either add a stripe to the other side or peel off the existing strip. QED Most Zs don't have the side stripes which indicates most people prefer a Z without stripes. That doesn't mean side stripes are bad, it just means some people like them and most prefer the plain look. As an easily changed cosmetic addition, stripes shouldn't greatly alter value or observer appreciation. Dennis
  13. You asked one of those questions that only you, as the owner, can answer. I suppose if you really can't decide and it totally bugs the snot out of you, you could stripe the driver's side and leave the passenger side plain. Dennis

  15. Have you talked to the folks at MSA about installation instructions or tips you might use when installing the kit? Often, the instructions simply say, "Professional installation recommended." Dennis
  16. How would it look with a light coating of off white spray paint applied to the inside of the lens? Dennis
  17. Prior to adjusting the latch or shimming the hinges, I'd suggest parking the Z in a sunny spot for a few days with the doors closed and let the seals compress naturally. This seems to be a very common occurrence, my '71 did the same thing with new seals, a day in the summer sun fixed the issue. Messing with latch alignment and hinge shims seems like it opens the door, so to speak, for other problems as the new seals settle in. Dennis

  21. If you ever get a chance to talk to any of the old timers at the factory, they'll speak with reverence about the legendary "Zed-Quatro-Zero" project from the early 1970s. You won't find pictures of it in any of the Nissan/Datsun historical books because of the hush hush nature of the project. I had heard that all of them had been destroyed after the project folded, but it appears at least one left hand drive example made its way to the States. Dennis

  23. I think that Z40 falls somewhere between the Z28 Camaro and the new ZXX Ferrari. A rare find for anyone who has been searching for a Z40! Dennis
  24. Not sure when the EN fabric designator was dropped. Your cover looks like the typical polycotton covers that were good for blocking sun and keeping bird droppings off the car. They were not waterproof and allowed moisture to evaporate out through the fabric. They can be tossed in the washer and dryer as needed. I don't have any Z covers left but still have a few Porsche covers that are left over from my "selling" days. Dennis
