  1. Now that you know the "What", here's the "Where". Covercraft PartLink Plus Covercraft has changed and added new materials over the years, so you won't see the "EN" (92/EN) fabric seen in the picture on their current site. However, the "92" pattern designator for the early Z remains the same. Good products and last a long time. I was a distributor for them last century. Dennis
  2. Based on the "92" code number on the front, it appears to be a Made in the USA Covercraft brand aftermarket cover with a Datsun logo screened on the front. Not as rare as it might seem. Sorry to rain on the parade. Dennis

  4. Satellite radio seems to produce sound quite nicely through the Bose sound system in my Infiniti G37 convertible. Cars aren't really known for their concert hall acoustics and audio quality reproduction anyway, so it's probably a moot point. When I think of good places to listen to high quality audio, a car is near the bottom of the list. Most of the owners of cars I see with amps and big speakers are more interested loud than quality it seems. Dennis

  15. I don't think they would give you the view you desire as fender mirrors - small mirror and short stalk. Dennis
  16. Since you're keeping the Z for the long term and not thinking about resale, do whatever is in your budget that makes you happy and makes the car enjoyable to drive. I've owned an award winning '70 Porsche 914-6 with a transplanted 911 2.7 liter motor for over 20 years. The original 2.0 liter six cylinder engine is in storage for the next guy, if he so chooses. Now, if it was a '63 Corvette split window coupe, I might be concerned about matching numbers. Dennis
  17. New tires all around - 215.60.15. The old ones were suffering from dry rot and not safe to drive the Z to the tire shop, so up on jack stands and haul the old ones to the tire store. Dennis
  18. I spent over 20 years near Duluth and am guessing that Z didn't. If it did, the new paint is hiding a wealth of body rust repairs. However, the door panels still have their silver trim strips, upholstery and dash look good, and the ash tray is there. Sunroof and rear speakers are a bit lame. Are the green & red lights/switches on the console for the rear window defrost? Dennis

  20. Works well for me in the California desert where daily summer temperatures typically range from 110º to 115º F (43-46º C). A set of rear window louvers is also helpful in reducing the hatch window greenhouse aspect. Dennis
  21. I don't think you'd be happy with attaching it with double stick tape. For best results, I suggest doing what the last sentence of the MSA mirror description says, "This mirror was not designed for the original mirror holes in the door, drilling is required." Dennis
  22. Mike, Just a thought to consider......Demand for the Gnose covers and SS trim is more limited than for the non Gnose Zs. Additionally, there may be problems with fitting the pieces as there have been a few Gnose suppliers in the aftermarket - some probably more true to the original Gnose dimensions than others. On the other hand, just about all headlight nacelles on the "standard" Zs are factory pieces, so cover & trim fit would be more universal for a much larger sales opportunity. My guess is that many people who have the currently available aftermarket headlight covers that fit within the headlight nacelle would prefer to have the factory type that secure with SS trim if the price was right.   23. I've been a member of this forum for a number of years and during that time, I've heard many members say they were in the process of replicating the headlight lenses and/or the SS trim. No one has. In the computer world, it's called "VaporWare". Good intentions and promises, but no product. I'd suggest that you go for it if your manufacturing connection is capable. I don't see it as stepping on anyone's toes. Others have mentioned just making the SS headlight cover trim and using existing lenses from MSA or Black Dragon. That would be another dead end. The MSA & BD aftermarket lenses are made to fit within the shape of the headlight nacelle while the original clear covers with SS trim are larger and overlap the nacelle, fitting on top of it, and secured by the SS trim and attachment hardware.
