Better Gearing
What if I keep the 4 speed and swap out the rear to the 3.54 R180? These seem more common than the 3.9. Has anyone gone this route? Impressions?

Better Gearing
I already have the T5 tranny. I figured if it ever needs rebuilt, there are more people in my neck of the woods who are familiar with the BW than the nissan 5 speed. I am assuming the L28 in stock form will probably have more torque than my hopped up L24. Hence my desire for better gears (torque multiplication). I just want to be able to light up the tires at will but still be able to cruise comfortably down the interstate at obscene speeds. I'll have to check my tire size to play with the calculator and unfortunatly the car is back at the body shop. In you all's opinion, what would be the best cruise RPM (at 70mph) for the L24?

Better Gearing
I am looking to upgrade my 240Z to a 5 speed. I got a t-5 out of an 83 turbo 280ZX. Is this over kill for a hopped up 2.4L? What would be the best rear gear ratio? I was looking at the R180's out of a subaru. An R200 is stronger though in case I ever stepped up to a bigger engine. I just want something thats fun off the line that I won't have to rap out to get up to freeway speed. Any suggestions?

Stock wheel help
I was looking at the stock rims that came with my car and figured with a little work would kinda look reminescent of the old porsche 550's. If I keep them, I want to replace the valve stems and this odd plug beside it. What is this plug? Is it a fuse plug like what's used on aircraft rims, that pops when overpressured from overheating? Regardless, where can I find a replacement? Is anyone else running the stock wheels painted or chromed with out hubcaps? Pics!

L24 performance upgrades.
Yes, the ignition definatly needs upgraded as well. It still has the old points. I just haven't gotten around to fully researching all my options. I apreciate your recommendations.

L24 performance upgrades.
I wouldn't think it would be so linear?!? There is more going on than just adding displacement. As ConchZ said there should be a noticable improvement in torque from the longer stroke. If I use the L24 rods with custom pistons I'd have a better rod ratio (than stock L26) which is good for revs, less wear, maybe a couple of HP due to less friction, etc. Rebello Racing builds a similar "crate" motor. http://www.rebelloracing.com/enginebuild.htm Any car show snob who snoops around, regardless of how thorough they are would never know there is an L28 crank in there. Besides, this way I don't have to scrounge up a new motor, no one wants these motors and I'd hate to toss this one to the scrap people, and L28 cranks are fairly easy to come by with all the people doing the L31 stroker.

L24 performance upgrades.
I'm about to dive into my my L24 engine to rebuild it. I was considering dropping in a L28 crank basically turning it into an L26. How much power/ torque is this mod worth? I'm getting the E-88 head sent to Rebello for the royal treatment, I have tripple 40 DCOE webers, MSA headers with dual exhaust. I also have the stock 4 speed and rear gearing. This is my first Z car, I've never driven one, so I'm not too sure what to expect. Will the 2.4 be under powered with the current gearing? Will the 2.6 hybrid mod be worth the effort? Has anyone here done this before? HybridZ gave me the duntz hat for not wanting to go with the obvious L28 turbo or NA.
