Z video
I agree - you are a legend Rogersz! Thanks for the heads up. I know what I'll be doing tonight! And the good thing is 10.30pm EST is 8.30 over here in Perth, the time difference working in my favour for once.

need opinion on 240Z
Bambikiller240 - Posting an image like that without a warning is just not nice. Seeing that is going to give me nightmares! I'm hoping the Z you looked at does not look like that J.

Anyone know this car?
Excellent example of a tastefully modified Z. The only thing I would criticize would be the side mirror design, but I'm just being picky.

Im new, but i want more zip.
I agree with biker, changing the differential to a 3.9 or 4.11 ratio would give you more zip.

The FJ is coming back!!!
I also think it is a reasonable reflection on the great old FJ and BJ series Landies. It seems to have reasonable ground clearance which is good, combine that with the winch presence and you get the impression that toyota are actually designing this thing for real offroad purposes. Can you unbolt the roof though? One a side note, is it just me or does the front of that new FJ look uncannily similar to the Ssangyong Korando? The Korando was a mercedes powered-korean built mongrel that sold quite poorly in Oz. Here is a picture for comparison...

350Z finally in Oz
Well he bought it. 1st 350Z sold in OZ he reckons!! Hasn't picked it up yet so I am still waiting to take it for a spin. Given that my 260 has been half naked and without a radiator for a month i'm looking forward to actually driving a Z again. Still think they should have put an RB26 in it:o

350Z finally in Oz
Just going on what he told me Alfadog. Maybe they sent one boatful of autos to WA and another boatful of manuals to the east coast?

L28 Turbos in Australia???
Thanks for the info Ben. I also wondered where people were getting there L series turbos from in Oz. It would be an interesting exercise to do a cost/benefit analysis of the RB20DET swap versus building an L28T.

350Z finally in Oz
My mate at work is getting a 350Z, he is going for the silver one with the auto box. Apparently you can't get the 6 speed manual till April in W.A. He has also taken pity on me and agreed to let me test drive it as soon as he gets it. Should be fun. There are some demo models floating from the nissan stores, I might drop by Nissan Melville tonight and have a look. I can dishonestly say I've always liked the new 350ZLOL

Bought a 240z today, Perth WA.
For what it's worth I'd leave the front fender mirrors on W.A.ZED. I reckon they are cool. Strange that your Z has them though, the only other Z I've seen with them in Australia had a Fairlady badge so I assume it was an import. Strange world we live in though! It's not legal to have fender mirrors but feel free to bolt large steel barwork to your car in case of hitting a roo.

Datsuns in classic sprints next Sunday
Cool, look forward to seeing the photos. Good to see there is a Bolwell MK.7 in there. Mate of mine is restoring a Bolwell Nagari and I was very impressed with it, a very good looking car for it's time and locally made as well. In some aspects it is similar to our Datsuns, check it out... http://www.bolwellcarclub.com.au/models.htm The chassis of it is pretty interesting, looks like two big steel girders welded into a T shape.

240Z in movies
Has no one mentioned the Z shown in the opening clips of the Fox8 show Maximum Exposure? I pretty sure it is a 240z but it is hard to tell because you only see an orange Z briefly as it spins off a race track and slams into a concrete barrier backwards. Oh well, at least it died a warriors death!

Looks like a winner! Even got some sunroof action working for ya. Seriously though, that car looks to be in great condition. So whats the plan then, restore to stock? Modify? Race?

Top stuff Mr C. Look forward to seeing the photos.:classic: This is the second Perth 240Z sale I have heard of in as many months - the market is practically boiling over!!! Just out of interest, did you get the car through an ad in one of the papers or word of mouth?

Cowl Drain
I pulled off both front fenders on the weekend. Not too bad apart from significant rust on both the fenders and frame at the bottom behind the front wheels. This also happens to be where the cowl drain points to. Anyway, I happened to look at Escanlon's gallery for some unknown reason and noticed he had fixed this cowl drain problem by attaching a tube to direct the water out of the panel. Once I fix the rust up I am definitely going to do something similar for my Z, as well as giving the whole area a liberal dosing of POR-15.

How old are you?
29 and 11 months:D I can still say I am in my twenties for a few more weeks.

A/C...stay or go?
Facing the same question myself. The AC unit looks heavy as hell and I've heard it costs about 5 to 10 hp to run the thing, there are two reasons to remove it. But I guess it also depends a bit on how much it will cost to get it running again. Anyone else bothered to fix their AC? How much did it cost?

Sounds good Gav. Let me know if you decide to make some up cause I'll be keen to grab one. Does it completely replace everything below the bumper?

Just Bought a 240Z Need Info
Thats pretty cheap for a motor Lee, good work. By the way, who is doing your bodywork. I'd be interested to hear how it goes because I'm putting off some signifcant bodywork at the moment but I have to get it fixed eventually. Haven't see seen redzed yet even though I spend a lot of time in freo. The last Z I saw was a bronze coloured 260 coupe in West Perth. I happened to be in my Z at the time and we came up to a roundabout from opposite directions. It was quite funny because he did not notice me until the last second, when he did his eyes just about popped out of his head - well I guess you had to be there. I see 280ZXs on a daily basis though, seems time has not caught up with them yet. I am also interested in a front spoiler Gav, but it depends on the shape. Don't like the spook one much, one like the Z in the top left of this page would be good though. Can you describe it? Chris
