Hey Super People out there!: I just ordered some stuff from Black Dragon for my Z. Any reports of problems with them? As I am just starting my retro and rebuild; anyone got other sources I should check out for parts and enhancements?
When bre-240Z said it was a 5-speed tranny, flags went up. It is a 4 speed and a 1975 model year coup. I was so wrong! How does that affect the above thoughts? Now it seems best to pull the engine and tranny as one unit, pull the wiring harness, but why the gas tank?
In another post I got good advice to keep the 280 engine out of my 76' 280. That way I will have another engine if the 240 in my 72' goes bad or if I get bored and want another project that week. However, what else should I scavage from the 280 for the 240? How about the transmission or the electrical crap? Finally, what to do with the 280? Hate to take it to the wrecking yard. Anyone want one for heap cheap, say $ 500.00? One owner z.
It seems like a good idea to pull the engine from the 280 and put it on a shelf for a future project. Thanks for all the input! Not knowing if I should start new threads, the answer to one question begats new questions. 1) Do I pull the tranny for the 280 engine? 2) Do I pull naything else while I am at it that I will need? 3) Hate to take the rest of the 280 to the junk yard. Anyone want it?
I have a 72' 240 that I am restoring and I have a 76 280 with a damaged front end. The engine just had a top end overhaul and runs great. I was thinking of taking the 280 to a junk yard after pulling the engine. But I would only do that if the engine could go in the 240 if I ever need to do that. It is either that or just sell the 280 as is for $ 500.00, which is all I have into it. Any thoughts on this or anyone want to buy a 280? ScottyZ
