    Thanks! Very interesting.

.....Right. I failed to mention that the 50's would only look small if the width was smaller too. I'm sure 215/50's would look great, I imagine. And I agree with you that 225's are really pushing it on my rims. I suppose I've been riding on an ideal size for my budget these last few years. I was excited to change it up, but not this time. One day I will try out the 215/50's. Thanks again!

OK, that is helpful. Thank you. I think I am going to stick to what I have now: 215/60/r15. I don't want to spend the extra money on 215/50's. Maybe someday. I was afraid that the 50's would look too small on a 15" rim. It would work on an MR2, but not on a Z.

I was thinking about 205/50's. Would that be a better handling size compared to a 55? Would they look too skinny on my rim? I'm not sure what is more relevant in terms of better handling. Should I be going by width of the tire or by profile?
  5. AndysPlit replied to AndysPlit's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
....Nevermind. I found out. They are 6" wide.
  6. AndysPlit replied to AndysPlit's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
..........Good question. Sounds lame but I am not exactly sure how wide they are. Anyone know how wide the ZX turbo rims are?

Forgive me if this has already been addressed. I have the 82/83 turbo rims on my 78. They are 15" rims. Now it's time for new tires and I wan t to know which of these sizes would handle the best: -195/50/R15 -205/50/R15 I want to switch from my 215/60/R15's. I believe the above sizes would improve the handling. However, I don't want the tires to look too dinky around the rim. Now I know there are other factors at play when it comes to suspension. I also know that brands may also make a slight difference. Honestly I'm looking at Kumhos on Tire Rack since I am on a budget. Oh, and the tires I plan to get must be H-rated. Any suggestions on the sizes would be helpful. Thanks!

I actually have that issue. I picked it up when it first came out. Great find!
  9. Bluestreak clone? Very cool. What modifications would you have in mind? Are you going Transformers style all the way?

Tell me about it! It pays to shop around. They took about 5 months to get her out of the shop. Maybe the fact that I told them not to rush it worked in my favor...........or not.

    .....the stock color.
  12. AndysPlit replied to rahail240's post in a topic in Open Discussions
...hehe, we won't utter a peep. If and when I own a 240, I want it in orange....918 that is.

Welcome aboard. This is the right place to start!

My job included, door/trunk jambs, removal of glass, refitted with new rubber everywhere, bodywork, rust repair (fitting in new metal), new logos and trim, and restoring back to #306 silver. $3,700 Initial quote was for $3,300. But, everyone else will tell you that it will depend on the extent of work and time. I am happy with my job, but it was not a complete tear-down. I suppose location may be a factor too. Good luck!

349,000? Now that's what I'm talking about! Guess I'm in second place.

Wow, the plot thickens on this thread. Couldn't we keep it simple? Oh well, these are valid sub-threads nonetheless. OK, miles I've logged in since I bought the car in 1997: approx 150,000 (I'm the 3rd owner) overall: see above posts.
  18. ...I'll check them out, though I have done some pricing on e-bay. Lots of $$$ plus I don't think I have the room in back since I share the space with others in the building. Once in a while I go for a Canyon Run on the Angles Crest with some other sports car enthusiests. This happens every Sunday morning at 7am. They all meet up at the Shell station on Foothill in La Canada. Maybe one of these days we can set something up when the roads aren't slick. Art Singer fom Sunrise Z goes once in a while.

.....mmmmmm, good point. How about overall miles regardless of what's been rebuilt. But ,by tranny and upper engine were done at approx 250,000.
  20. AndysPlit replied to AndysPlit's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Wow, must be nice. I can't wait to drive my car after its engine has been rebuilt.....whenever that is.
  21. AndysPlit replied to AndysPlit's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
.....So, am I still in the lead? 299,600!
  22. AndysPlit replied to AndysPlit's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
....I've read a few threads with low mile Z's. So I am interested in the other side of the spectrum. There's something to be said about high mileage cars, as they've been through a lot.
  23. ....OK, sounds like what I've been doing. I just don't want to deal with the rust issue, as it was taken care of in 2006 when it went to the bodyshop. Thanks! ps...my next place will have a garage, I swear!

My 78 has 299,600 miles. Rebuilt tranny, replaced head gasket.
