Cover Or No Cover In Rain?
Unfortunately I had to move to a place that doesn't have a nice spot (garage / carport) for my Z. I usually keep a cover on it, as I only drive it about once a week or so. I just had it painted over a year so I want to preserve the car as much as possible. When it rains I usually take the cover off. Now, we don't get so much rain out here in Southern California, but I cringe everytime I read a weather report predicting rain. My car cover is nothing fancy. Of course it claims to be made out of "breathable" material and all that. So, my question is this. As long as I am in this situation, what do you guys think is better for my car? Cover or no cover for when it pours? Thanks. ps....the bra is off during the rainy season.

I think i have a Black Pearl
....Very little point in adding this, as it is VERY trivial. But, my hood comes from a BPE......Found it in the junkyard a few years ago when I was looking for another hood. Nope, I don't own a BPE, but I got a good deal on the hood. :squareeye

side view mirror mount
OK, my side view mirror on the 78 is fine........but, the base or mount is cracked. Now my mirror has to be fixed because it is simpily no loner stable. The mirror now shakes. I've glued it twice and it comes loose from the mount in a couple days. Is there any way I can save the mirror and just replace the mount? I think the OEM mirrors come with the mount if you buy them brand new, but I don't really need the mirror itself. (considering aftermarker mirror to save money) Any of you ever seen just the mount/ base for sale? Or should I just get an entire new mirror?

silver 280z in Castrol oil ad
That's cool. Kind of a strange angle as the Z looks squashed and wider than I am use to seeing. Still awesome.

People who try to make profit
Why does every thread lately have to be about this car?
-
If this guy gets $20,000 I am selling mine lol
Well, the 280's due have the crash bumpers. However crude they may appear, they saved my Z's rear from being mangled a few months back. But, a 280 is faster and fuel injected. Love the 260's, but I'll stick with my 280.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
.....OK, since it is registered here in California, there should be no problems. I have used those permits before putting the car under my name before. So, sounds like it should be OK. Sorry for any confusion.

Just want to add that I apologize if my initial response was confrontational. I suppose my perception may have misguided my post. Anyway, I still respect your views.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Well, just got back from the DMV. God, I love that place!!! I want to work there.......just kidding. Anyway, I have an answer for Red Dog. They told me that the only way they can grant a temporay permit is if the car is currently registered in California. I hope that answers your question.

Indeed. Wonder if the sellers of those 260's have any idea what sort of stir they've created on our little message board.

California Dreaming
...No need to reitterate your points. If you recall, I did confess that I can see where you were coming from. My issue with your post was the fact that you took the liberty of saying a majority of us are "wrong". "Wrong" is a very black and white term....extreme if you will. For matters that pertain to the value of Z-cars, I think most of us can vouch that there is in fact a lot of grey area. We'll see when the first 260Z sells for 20K. It will be a while.

What's with the 260's lately? Did I miss something?

The Last S30
Would it be possible to track down the last S30 ever produced? Hopefully she's at least still intact.

Im stuck in a pickle, need help
Well, here in CA there is such a thing as a temporary operating permit. I am currently using one of these because my 300ZX still needs to pass smog. So until my ZX is registered I am able to drive around with one of those. It's a red paper that is displayed on the right rear windshield indicating the month it is good for. These permits are good until the end of the month. Now, I have just illustrated how It is OK for me to use one. I do not know if the DMV would grant you one with your circumstance in mind. However I am going to the DMV tomorrow afternoon. I can ask for you if you wish.
