Hi guys, I'm having a problem with a friends 240z I'm helping him work on. WHen I press the clutch in it goes in pretty easy and it's not working like it should. A mechanic friend said it probably needs a new master cylinder. I replaced that and it's still not working. Not sure if I just need to bleed the lines good? need to work on the slave? or if it's something worse. Thanks for any help...you guys ROCK... Ryan
  3. Ok I tried checking the booster valve and that seems to be hooked up right, but I do notice that when I press the brake pedal I can hear a little air leak. This is when the engine idle increases...The same thing happened when I unhooked the check valve and didn't have the end covered leading to the intake. So do you guys think I need to rebuild or replace that vacuum on the brake system? thanks again Ryan
  4. Thanks guys, I'll give those ideas a try. I tried disconnected a couple other hoses with no luck, but I'll check that booster valve too. Ryan
  5. Hi everyone, My name's Ryan and pretty new to the Z-world and loving it though. A friend of mine bought 2 1972 240z's and they both need a little work. The problem presently is that when I press the brakes on one of them it increases the RPM's. I'm not sure if any of the hoses might be hooked up wrong or if something is just going out. Thanks for any Help. Ryan

Thanks again guys I got in working. I'm not sure if it was the ballast resistor or not, but it was a loose wire on a ceramic resistor that is connected to the distributor cap. Mounted up by the front of the engine compartment on the drivers side.

HI, my name is Ryan and I'm working with a friend on a couple of 1972 240z's. These cars are awesome and fun to work on. The problem we're having with one is that we can get it to start fine, but in order to keep it running we have to hold the key just past the on position. Not engaging the starter, in between the on and start position. As soon as we let the key go and it goes back to the on position the engine dies. We already tried switching out the key switches on the steering column and that didn't work. Also checked fuses but may just try replacing some, just in case. Any help would be great. Thanks Ryan
