I think there will always be a demand for Z parts houses. They will keep the Z 's going that are restored or the ones that are being restored. Look at Year One, the specialize primarily in GM parts. Chevy and Camaro are their bread and butter. There are a whole lot less "road worthy" 1950's cars then there are Z cars. Eventually though father time will win.
  2. I am 32 and I remember Z cars well in the early 80's I used to see 240's 260's and 280's on the road all the time. My dad has been a mechanic for the last 31 years, so he was always test driving some cool car like 944's 911's Z's etc. When I was in high school I always wanted a 90-96 300zx twin turbo. They had to be one of the best looking Z's ever. I learned to drive on a 74 Datsun 610 wagon. How many of those have you seen lately?
  3. I would consider adding some sound deadoning insulation. Second skin makes great insulation. I put some in my 73 240Z, and it really helped with noise, heat, and vibration. Just my opinion though.
  4. "factory" AC on a 240Z gimmie a break!!! Factory add on maybe. My 73 had factory add on AC but the components are long gone. Some people need to do their homework before the write for sale ads. I see that on craig's list and ebay all the time.
  5. I believe with a G nose you also need a longer hood. I could be wrong though.
  6. Being from the south, and familiar with rednecks, I thought the comment was great. Down here in GA, not all of us are rednecks despite popular belief. I presently live in south Ga, an area that is frot with rednecks. I am from north Ga (Athens Go Dawgs UGA etc) and the rednecks are not as prolific as our more southern Ga bretheren. Hope this southern perspective helps!!! HAHA
  7. Actually, the original GL was a 1969. A guy found the original 69 promo GL that Warner Bros. built for the show in a junkyard in Dawsonville Ga about four years ago. The car still had the WB number plate below the VIN and everything. The guy restored the car back to original GL "specs." I saw a video about it on you tube and watched a TV show about the "discovery." WB used some 68's and 70's buy changing the rear tailights and the side marker lamps.
  8. Your car looks great!!! I like the gold color. Does it have metal flake in it? I just had my 73 240 painted about six months ago, and I am still jazzed about it.
  9. Thanks webdawg1, I will give ebay a try. Brad
  10. I am looking for a radiator surge tank for my 240Z. I thought about just buying some tubing and using a glass bottle. Does MSA or Black Dragon a surge tank with tubing? Any thoughts?

I believe you car might need inner and outer tie rods. My 73 did the same thing in straight lines and in curves. New tie rods solved the problem. I got mine from MSA. You have to buy both the inner and outer tie rod as an assembly. Hope this helps. Brad
  12. I much would you sell a 240Z or 280Z engine for? I am thinking about upgrading to a 280Z engine in the not to distant future. How is beautiful Savannah by the way. My wife and I were there about two weeks ago and had a great time. Brad
  13. I looking for a complete L24 or L28 as a spare for my 240Z. Does anyone have one they would like to sell, or know of a good place to buy one? It never hurts to have a spare engine ready to go.

Thanks guys for the comments.... The steering wheel is a Momo prototype that I bought off of ebay. I bought the wheel from a guy that pulled if off a 280Z because he didn't like it. The wheel is dated 1979, and is in great condition. You can still get them from momo.com. The color is 2004 BMW silver grey. Brad

Thanks Yankee, I almost went with that silver and stripes combo. I decided the grey would be better here in the south GA summers.

  23. Hey Guys, Here are some pics of my fresh paint. The color is 2004 BMW silver grey. The dash is original and uncracked amazingly enough. Brad
  24. Thanks Guys for the comments. I think I will just use the ZX alternator. I think the GM model would be a bit of overkill. Brad
  25. I think my alternator may be going on my 73 Z. I just installed a set of super white Piaa driving lights, and the work great. I also put in some H4 halogen light for good measure. When my driving lights are on, my headlights seem to get dimmer. The driving lights have their own relay and switch which is a plus. My amp meter is still to the right of the middle line. I know that Z's have weak alternators to begin with. Do I need to upgrade my wiring harness to install the more powerful GM alternator? Any thoughts?
