  3. Robin, it sounds as a lean condition, but it can be many things, vrong dampner oil, vrong ignition timing ect., i suggest you upload a photo of the dizzy and also the stamping on the side og the dizzy. Other than that, get hold of this guy. Chris

Graham, i assume Midlands England is meant as UK and your Z is a RHD, is that so? In that case i like to point you to your mates here other than that, this is a very good forum, with a bunch of knowledgable people, so stay around;) Chris

I forgot to ask what behavior you wan't from the engine, do you wan't a high reving or a low torque? i assume you wan't it for street and not track and in that case i would aim for the L28.
  6. ChrisZ replied to Danish 240z's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Sebastian, it's not all about displacement, use one of the L26 you have and put your money in to the cylinder head, what is the stamping on the heads you have? Oh and welcome to the club
  7. Rick, if you read my post again, you will notice i have a -66 SPL and the model is a -67.5 SRL. Chris
  8. Sure is Stephen, can't say anything about the price, it's a gift after all, the model is a -67.5 2000, so not the same as mine -66 1600, but closePerfect240Z, turn your wife over next time and you might get a bigger christmas gift:laugh: Chris
  9. I believe you don't have anything like the one in my avatar;) Chris
  10. I got the car, 1:18 scale
  11. And some other non car related stuff.
  12. What Sarah said, just notice that there is 3 different type of pointers and harmonic balancers, if they have been mixed up, so when you have piston #1 at TDC and the notches on the cam is pointing up, then check and see if the pointer is a 0, if not, make your own mark. Make sure your plugs and plug wires are good. When all this is done and you can confirm your ignition is correct it is time for you to look at those SU's Make sure they are clean and there is no gunk in them, also make sure the hose from float chamber to nozzle is not collapsed, it have to be flexible, if you want to re-new it, you should get it from Ztherapy. Now start by turning the mixture screws all the way up to closed position and then turn them 3.5 turn down (clock wise from above), this should get you started and you should get a idle, then balance, now all you need is to get a correct mixture, balance the high idle and you will be just about there. When the engine is hot, it is time for you to adjust the valves. Chris

Sarah, I can't agree with you a, well tuned re furbed pair of SU's is pretty much set and forget and will probably give you less trouble than a FI like the kind in the 280Z Chris
  14. ChrisZ replied to SledgehammerX's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Carb the bastard, a nice pair of SU's and your problem is solved. Chris
  15. PM send regarding butterscotch Chris
  16. First check and see if the other engine is a L26, if so i would use it as it is what the car came with, even if the number doesen't match. The big difference in between L24 and L26 is crank and rods, so you should be fine with what you have ordered, did you have the machine shop to check the bearing size before ordering? Chris

270 + 222 / 2 = 246 at .060 witch is just about 1.5 millimeter, it might not be that simple, but it make sense. Chris
  18. ChrisZ replied to mbarjbar's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
I did look at the link, but didn't see the comparison (10 inch netbook), so the stage II is the same as the C cam with a little higher lift, that is very interesting to know. Guy, did you take a look at the link i provided above?
  19. ChrisZ replied to mbarjbar's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Sorry if i get a little confused about all this, but what you are saying is that Nissan A cam (248) is the same as Isky stage I, i run a Nissan C cam (256) what would that be at .050 inch lift? Chris
  20. ChrisZ replied to mbarjbar's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
So Guy, what youi are saying is that the duration listed in the Nissan L serie spec sheet, is at .050 inches? Chris
  21. ChrisZ replied to mbarjbar's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Oh no Guy, the stock cam is much smaller, IIRC 270 is a stage II.Mike, have a look here, there should be a letter stamped in your cam as you see on the page, witch will refer to the "cam mark" on the spec. sheet. Chris
  22. ChrisZ replied to cozye's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
cozye, sorry man for not responding, i will have to dig down and see if i have a photo of my Z from the back, my Z i also covered at this moment, not in snow but in my garage at my summer house. Regarding the streched look, it all depends on the tire, so what you should do is to check the with of the "pattern" before ordering tires, my Michelin, is not 7" wide so they do look a tiny bit streched, on the other hand, if they haven't been like that i wuld have had some rubbing (offset) Chris

Ron, i wouldn't use A2 for structual use either, just to soft, my engine on the other hand, has most of the bolts in A2, for me it's easy to go pick up some metric fasteners, hence the offer. Chris
  24. Thats a great looking Z, except of the wheels, you should ditch them and find me a shipping price to Denmark, so i could dispose them for you So how much did you have to pay? Chris
  25. ChrisZ replied to geezer's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Ron, if i can be of any help to get you some metric hardware, then let me know. Chris
