I have one out of... lets see six that is an automatic. Don't get me wrong I love her because she is beautiful. But I HATE driving her because it's boring.

Are those split sunroofs aftermarket? Because I've don't see them on anyone else's Z. They are funny-looking.
  6. Oh please God don't let that train come! Beuatiful pictures though. Almost worth the risk. Not quite but almost. You've inspired me to do some photography of mine.
  7. Beautiful!!!
  8. Well, I plan on droppng the tank. Maybe even replacing it. And the rest of injectors, too. But that takes money. I have time, and plenty of it. But money, I could use more of. .

Congratulations!!! It's amazing isn't it. The first time I drove my Z... I got a call from a friend at a car show. He said "You have to come see this car!" I went to see her. I will admit, I was okay at first. Then I got in the car. I told her "I'm coming back for you" and I bought her the next day. But enough about me, conratulations my friend. You'll find it was the best decision you've ever made. And as far as it being a stick goes, drive it every chance you get and soon it will become second nature. Hey, does such a thing exist as an automatic 280? It seems like a shame. A car that gorgeous should be manual.
  10. Got any pics of those new bumpers??? Mine aren't bent or rusted, they are just, well... at a funny angle. I haven't tried to fix them yet, don't really know how. But I'd like to see those smaller bumpers you are talking about. I am considering getting some smaller ones and putting together a conservative body kit. You know, to maintain that classic look and add just a little something more than ordinary.
  11. Here is one for now and I'll have more up very very soon. I still need to take interior and engine shots. But I've had her for about a week. Tell me what you think of her...
  12. Well guys, problem solved! I changed those two injectors and repaired the boots and she runs beautifully! Thanks a million for all your help!
  13. Hey Bigoak, Thanks for the info about the manual. I'm sure it will prove to be very useful. And yes, KDmatt. We have a DeLorean... yawn. Just kidding. I like the D but I like the Z more! GOOD NEWS!!! I found my problem! I found another leaky injector hose. As it turns out, the car was lean rather than rich. My problem is the little wiring harness that goes to the injectors. Well two of the boots are cracked and brittle (well they all are but those two are the worst). And moisture is getting into the wiring and causing the injectors not to get a connection. I cleaned them up, electrical taped the boots, added some dielectric grease and there you go. Unfortunately, driving it today with water in those injector connectors. I think I may have shorted those two out. When I ohmed them yesterday they were all fine. When I ohmed them again today, two of them were bad. But at least now I know. I'm replacing those two injectors tomorrow and we'll see how it goes.
  14. Well, just for kicks and giggles, I checked the injectors with am ohm meter and they're all okay. Which I expected. I found a hose with a little tiny leak on the fuel rail, which would account for the smell of gasoline in the engine. I fixed that hose and the problem still remains of the car running bad. Today I'm just going to go through everything I can think of and see what I can find. This may not even be a fuel problem at all... This engine is still a little foriegn to me. I'm used to working on little and newer four cylinders and the V-6 in our DeLorean. This engine is new and I've got to learn my way around it. Anyway, I am going to go over her with a fine-tooth comb today and get back to you with what I find if anything. I really appreciate all you help with this. I can admit that I am very frustrated. I just got the car and can't really drive it. It's the most terrible circumstance having a new toy and not being able to play with it. I love her though and I am confident I'll find the issue and get it resolved. Thanks again, guys and I'll get back to you soon.
  15. My 280z is named Karma. My mom gave her that name because she told me that good things really do happen to good people. Or in this case, good cars. As far as the sex, she is definitely female because I've never seen a boy with curves like that. However, she is far from cute. Cute is what you can call my Dodge and Plymouth Neons. And maybe even my stupid Hyundai. But not this one. This one is sexy!

Well, we have the parts but I'm just not sure they are good enough for my baby girl.
  17. Thanks guys... now I know.
  18. If the injectors are clogged due to the build up in the tank, what is the best way to go about cleaning them? Or should I just test and replace them? Air filter is new. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor are new. I suppose I will check the fuel filter. I might as well replace it. It's old anyway. Most of those cute little hoses leading to each injector are worn and starting to fray. I plan on replacing those, too. I have the day off tomorrow so I am certian I'll spend it working on the car. I am determined to get her running well again. She's far too pretty to sit in my garage all the time. Now... please explain to me what a thermotime switch is. I sell auto parts for a living and have never heard of such a thing. What is it's primary purpose? Well, I'll check a couple things and get back to you. Thanks so much for your help.
  19. I was looking up parts for my '76 280z and a question arose. What does it mean by 2+2? I know that's probably a stupid question but I'm a new Z owner and I just don't know.

Thanks. The crappy parts I get at work are no good. AutoZone is okay for my other cars but not this one.
  21. Am I the only weirdo who has given their car a name? If not let me know what you guys call your cars.
  22. I've got a '76 280z. My car has been sleeping for four years until I bought her and woke her up. Now she ran great when I bought her (three days ago) but I've been driving her. Mainly showing her off to all my friends and family. Well I notice the car ran increasingly rough. First I noticed just a little loss of horse power. Then she started to hesitate when accelerating. Now she's running like garbage and sounds terrible. The engine bay smells bad of gasoline and the milage is horrible. I've even stopped driving it. What it seems like to me is that the car is getting way too much fuel. I haven't yet tried that little trick of pulling the vacuum line off the fpr but that's where I'm going to start. If that doesn't end up being my issue, what do you guys think it could be? Any ideas? Thanks.
  23. You know, you guys were talking about rust. So I picked the car up and inspected it. And it seems that some previous owner knew that the Z cars liked to rust and tore the car apart to Rhino-line it. Everything is lined. The frame, undercarriage, backside of body panels. Everything. By the way, the frame seems flawless. By the way, those injections of Z... I am quite addicted already. I'm going to work on getting some pics of her up soon because she gorgeous. Like I discovered the first time i sat behind the wheel, nothing compares to the beauty of the world as seen through the windshield of me Z.

Has anyone ever been to blackdragonauto.com? I'm sure you have. How do they rate. Does anyone recommend using blackdragonauto as a supplied of new Datsun part? I've spent the better part of my evening flipping through their catalog and am just amazed at the vast selection of some what hard to find parts. I'm new to the Z cars but I thought it was pretty cool.
  25. You know what's amazing?!?! I woke up, closed on the loan, picked up my car and headed for work. I had owned this car for nineteen minutes, pulled over at a gas station and some one already made me an offer for it. Of course I declined... I'm in love with my new car. But all day at work people were coming in and asking about it. I wasn't expecting that much attention from it.
