  1. When things get confusing, go back to the basics. The most mysterious problems revolve around the grounds or as I call them, RETURNS because this is the other 1/2 of the complete circuit the ground or return side. Run a heavy gauge jumper from the case of the alternator to the heavy gauge termination of the negative cable from the battery. Don't assume there is a good conduction path from the alternator case (negative side) through the engine back to the negative cable attached to the engine. Then retest the alternator and proceed with troubleshooting if needed.
  2. Zs-ondabrain: What is really needed are schematics of the Turn Signal Left hand stalk and the Right Hand Stalk combination of switches for those completely rewiring a 240Z. With your knowledge and ability to rebuild these switch assemblies it should not be too difficult to come up with schematics of same. Would like to hear feedback from you regarding this matter. Please advise. Thanks.
  3. Zs-ondabrain: I have gone to bat for you on some of these fellows concerning electrical problems that can be solved by using your modification harnesses.

For the price that Zs-ondabrain rebuilds the lever/switches and his expertise have him rebuild same and modify the headlight, turn signal and running lights with his modification harnesses. Then you are rid of the Japanese design problem.

Ericster: The Japanese electrical systems designers really went marginal on some of the designs of the electrical circuits in the Datsun. With age the marginal designs do not hold up. Go with Zs-ondabrain has to get rid of the problems and FIX the designs.
