ZCON 2010 July 28th-Aug 1st Nashville,TN
Here is a local update from Nashville. The good news is the waters are receding and the host hotel area is dry and was not affected. The heavily hit areas were obviously near the various rivers that run near Nashville. According to a new report last night, Nashville has over 33000 hotel rooms and even without the Opry Hotel there is plenty of rooms. Nashville has temporarily moved the Grand Ole Opry to another site so the show must go on. Nashville counts heavily on the tourism business so it will be working hard to get business, bars and the entertainment back open and operational. Did I say the bars would be open? Chris they are opening a new Jimmy Buffet bar downtown and hopefully it will be open for you at the end of July. I hope to see all CZC members there.

Replacement seat covers-QUALITY??
"has anyone heard of Distinctive Industries? Specifically, has anyone bought and fitted their 240Z seat covers?" Distinctive Industries products are the ones that Classis Datsun uses. I have used their foam and it works just fine. Good luck with the project.

New ZCCA Judging Rules
"What does "stock classes" mean? Does that include the Daily Driver class, or just the stock class for each generation?" That rule should only apply to Stock (10 points off) and Modified (5 points off) and not Daily Driver. Judging for the DD class does not include the engine compartment.

I was there with my SMZ. The turnout was light due to the weather but it was still a nice event.

Early 240Z towing hooks .......
Bonzi Lon, You should not have to remove the hooks as that is how it would have "come off the boat". I never lost any points for them when my car has been judged by the ZCCA. But if you only have part of a set it could cost a point or two.

Air or no air....
Regarding the use of the 77 Air parts for the engine bay you might consider these points: 1. If the system has not been used in years the compressor seals could be suspect 2. That system does not use R134 freon which is most prevelent and the cheaper. 3. The new style rotary compressors are more effective and have less drag on the engine. Regarding the question about the Courtesy kit, or even one from Motorsports, their evaporator does mount up from the under side of the dash so you do lose some foot space since it hangs down in that area. Unfortunately that is really the only easy solution unless someone wants to totally redesign the dash. I hope this helps your decision process. If you do decide to go with the Courtesy or Motorsports units they are fairly easy to install. You would only need to drill two holes through the firewall for the hoses and then the rest is just bolt in.

Removing Air conditioning
Generally, removing the evaporator from the inside is a relatively easy task. Most of the A/C units just bolt to the bottom of the heater housing and most likely did not require any cutting. You might have to take the glove box out for easier access. Regarding the holes in the firewall, if you are lucky and they drilled two separate holes you can just get a couple of rubber floor plugs like the pic below to plug it up. Then you will not need to weld up the holes unless you really want to. Good luck with your project.
