Correct fender bolts and washers
Dan, I looked at some pictures I took of an unmolested Z and with original paint and it shows the bolts along the top edge of the fender are all a regular head and not ones with a phillips style insert in the head. They are not a mixture. I hope this is helpful.

Does a “Numbered Z have additional value?
In your opinion if a manufacturer identifies a car with a production number plate does it provide any additional value? As an example the 10th Anniversary Z and the new NISMO Z have small plates that said they were car # XX. If you are either a short term owner or a long term collector does having a production sequence number on the car impact your buying intention or ownership of one of them? All comments are welcome.

Exhaust manifold finish
AZ240Z wrote: "Is the manifold dressing you used the Eastwood dressing shown in their online catalogue, referenced by Kenz240z above, on page 40, item #11171? " Dan yes I used the Calyx that Ken referenced. I used a wire wheel in a Dremel to clean the rust off, wiped it down with some degreaser and then just rubbed the coating on. Although I have not put alot of miles on it since I did it, the manifold has gone through numerous heat cylces and it has not deteroriated. PM me sometime and let me know what you have in mind for your carpet?

Exhaust manifold finish
I have had several conversation with a ZCCA judge regarding this topic. Honestly, there is a varying opinion on what is correct and also what is acceptable. A car that was awarded the Gold Medallion in Dallas had the exhaust manifold powder coated black. I do not think he lost any points as a result. Again based on my discussions with the judge. I did lose 2 points in Dallas from that same judge because my manifold was painted using Eastwood cast iron paint. So for this past years convention I took the manifold off and removed all the paint and rust and coated it using the Eastwood dressing (see picture). As you can see it turned out very nicely. I did not loose any points as a result of this. My discussion with the same judge in Daytona was that the powder coating was not originally done by Nissan. He commented that the powder coated finish did maintain a black appearance. I feel the dressing actually kept the roughness of the cast iron surface but protected it from rusting which more closely represented how it came off the assembly line. However, if you buy a new exhaust system from Nissan the pipes and muffler is now powder coated black. Unfortunately this may all come down to who the judge is an how he interprets it! Good Luck. e manifold.bmp

2007 Z National Convention (ZCON) Info
The mail just came and as an FYI for those who are looking for their scoring sheets from the show, mine just came. Hopefully, those who are anxiously awaiting them will get theirs in the next day or so.

2007 Z National Convention (ZCON) Info
Yes you will receive your score sheets from the ZCCA. I recently talked to Paul Hollander, who does that task, and he said he was almost done and they should be going out soon. It takes some time to log them all in, copy, do the letters and envelopes and get them to the post office. Again you should be getting yours soon.

Joe Flores
Frank, I am not sure if you are referencing the same Joe F but it might give you a starting point. The Joe I am going to reference used to work at Courtesy Nissan in the Dallas area, Richardson TX. I believe he started in parts and later became the Service Manager. I believe he now is at one of the Dodge Stores in the Dallas area. If you give Steve Richardson, Parts Manager, at Courtesy he should know how to get a hold of Joe. Assuming it is one in the same. I hope this is helpful.

240Z to be on Car Crazy TV
Ron wrote " I hope I represented the Z community well.' Ron, You did the Z and Datsun communitiy proud! They easily could have re-named it Z or Datsun Crazy and been right on where you are concerned. I cannot think of anyone else that empathizes the spirit of the Z any better. If anyone has not seen Ron's car they have missed a great one. I first saw it at the 2004 Z Convention while it was still a work in progress. All though it was close to being finished it was clear it was going to be top notch. Now that it is finished it definitely represents a key part of Datsun's racing heritage very well. Ron is truly Car Crazy!
