Z you there!!- MSA a/c kit.. anyone have experience with it?
My car has the Courtesy Nissan A/C system in it. This kit is very easy to install. I did not have to add a new crank pulley as it some kits require because it uses the same belt that runs the smog pump (if you still have one). The evaporator bolts very easily to the bottom of the heater box. You do not have to remove the dash to install it just he glove box. As far as cooling it works fine, although I live in So Cal so outside temperatures are not as extreme as Tx. One other thing that I liked with the Courtesy unit was the hose connections. All the hoses have actual fittings on them not a bare hose with a band clamp. While the band clamps may work fine, I just think the fittings give it a better quality look and application. As mentioned above the new rotary compressors that are in the kits today are far more efficient regarding the drag on the engine. Cooling drops off a under 1500-2000 but unless your in alot of traffic it should not be a problem. Good luck with it and hopefully I can check out your fine looking ride at the Z convention next year in Dallas. Bob- No spark to the plugs HELP!
Did it run before you changed plugs, dist cap etc? If so check the lead wire that connects to the side of the distributor. It is possible that it either slipped off the spade connector or the connector broke inside the small cover on the end of the wire. I have had that happen. To look at the wire it looks good but you may have to slide the protector back to inspect the wire itself. If that all checks out start following the wire back from the distributor to coil to ignition. I hope this helps. Good luck Bob- Restoring 240Z Sunvisors
Dan, It is a little tricky but here is what I did- take a Xacto, it has a sharp point, and very carefully cut along the seam at one of the ends. Be sure to take your time because the straighter you cut on the seam the easier it will be to seal it up later. Only open up as little as needed on the end. Once you have done that carefully slide out the frame and old padding. Usually the padding is taped to the frame so it prevents you from just removing the padding. Go to your local hobby store, like Micheals or MJ Designs and buy new thin foam and some CA clue. The needs to be the thin style. Cut your new pad and then slide it all back into the vinyl. Run a thin bead of thin CA glue along the seam line a seal it back up. Gluing a small section at a time is recommended. If the vinyl is stretched after you have sealed it, you can use a heat gun to warm the vinyl and let it shrink. Be careful because too much heat in one spot will melt the vinyl. If the vinyl needs to be re-colored you can buy some vinyl spray at your local automotive paint store that will freshen them up. Good luck ZULAYTR Bob 72 240 96 300ZX- Tie down hook color?
The right front is a different shape from the two rear. The hook opening looks larger in the front, but I haven't actually measured them. They do have a different angle on them where they mount to the car. I can see if I can get a better shot but the rears are tucked up under the bumper so it is difficult to do without taking them off. Have a great day! Good luck on your hose quest. Bob- Tie down hook color?
One reason why you may not see the hooks, except the tow hook, on US cars is because the dealer was supposed to remove them during PDI. Some dealers did and some not. Here is a pic of the rear one. Bob- Tie down hook color?

26thZ wrote: I think the tie-down hooks go on the right front and left rear, but I am pretty sure there is only one on the back. Actually there were two on the rear. They were designed the same. The front had the ring shaped bracket on the left side and a hook on the right front. If you need pictures let me know. Bob- Tie down hook color?
The tie downs were black. Often when owner have their cars painted they end up being painted over with the body color. Bob- Where to locate 240Z tierod and ball joint boots?
The part numbers I listed earlier are for the tie rod end and the steering gear boots. The balljoint cover is available- 40192A8600. You probably will need all of them.- Where to locate 240Z tierod and ball joint boots?
Both the steering gear boots and the tie rod end covers can be ordered from a Nissan dealer. ST Boot- 48203-N3400 and Tie rod cover-48522W1401 I had to replace mine because they split. I hope this is of some help.- Nissan "Z" Adverstising Campaign - Who's got photos?
The billboard is a rolling ad campaign by Nissan for the 35th Anniversary Z. They started with the 240Z, "35 years of Groovy" and transitioned to the 280ZX and now the 300ZX. The 350Z is next up. The 240Z was from the Sports Illustrated Ultimate Swimsuit Edition that was on the news stands Nov 02-Feb03. Nissan was the only advertiser for that special edition of 38 years of swimsuits. The reason why my avatar is the billboard is because I own the car that was used to make the board. It is a 72, so they did some minor photoshop work to make it appear as a '70. I did post a picture of the first board on this site in the ads sections for photos so if anyone has pics of the 280ZX and 300ZX maybe they could post them there for others to view. Zulaytr Bob- Correct metal fan shroud color
Dan, Good to hear from you. I missed you at the West Coast show this year. I think your route is short, not a "long way". Other than the shroud what else are you working on? BTW the radiator actually should be gloss black. Good luck on it, I hope to see at a show in the future. Bob- Correct metal fan shroud color
The factory metal shroud is actually satin black. It is almost a gloss, so you could probably paint it either one. I was fortunate to find a OEM shroud a couple of years ago. It still had the part number attached. 72 240Z 96 300ZX - Car Show wednesday night Torrance CA
