Yes, I was anxious to drive it, the body parts will eventually come back on. I hope to have it insured and registered within two weeks, just got no#3 injector to work again (it is now firing on SIX) and I got my fuel guage working. Every day a little bit.

Videos!
Just took a few videos of the 280z. For an update, I now have a new brake master cylinder, new water pump, and a radiator cap off of an RX-7(original one was spraying the windshield with water). I still have to fix a few things (I think it doesn't fire on one cylinder but I'm not sure). Comments would be appreciated.

Clutch?
My dad did this to his field marshall (tractor) that probably sat for 25+ years. His clutch works fine. It saves me the trouble of taking the tranny off and putting another one on. This is the first time in 25 years that the 280 has seen 70mph.

Clutch?
I tried the starting in gear idea and it worked! I now have a clutch that works great! It doesn't slip or anything. I just took it to the road today to find out what kind of bugs it has.(like brakes, sticking throttle). I did what I wanted to do this summer (have it driving before school)...school starts tomorrow.

Clutch?
That could work for me. I found a 280ZX with a 5 speed at an auto wreckers nearby. From what I'm told the motor is still good too. Thanks for all the help.

Clutch?
Is there any tricks I can try to "unseize" it? This would be last resort but could I put the handbrake on and start it in gear with clutch pedal pushed all the way in?

Clutch?
The car did jump forward when I tried starting it. Nothing has been modified or changed to the car, all is original. If the clutch was seized to the flywheel, wouldn't the pedal and slave cylinder be stuck as well? When I had it running I tried to put it in gear but couldn't, I was also expecting grinding, but it didn't grind. Does everything just need loosening? The car has basically sat for 25 years.

Clutch?
I am getting closer and closer to actually driving my 280z 2+2. Just got it running last week. I bled the clutch and it should be ready to go. Had my brother push in the clutch for me while I was underneath the car and the slave cylinder goes out all the way. The car shifts fine through all the gears when not running, but when running can't seem to get it into any gear with the clutch pedal all the way. What is going on? What do I do?

My 280Z
Thanks for that. Little late for the fix.

My 280Z
It runs! Had to clean the tank, line, pump in order to make it run. Couple of friends helped me start it. With a little help from ether and BANG!! it runs. Little rough because I think one injector is plugged but otherwise pretty amazing for basically not running 25 years. Next I have to get the brakes fixed and the clutch slave cylinder replaced(I think) and I should be almost good to go.

My 280Z
Got some updated pictures from what I've done so far, hope to have it running and driving before September. http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb100/1975_280Z/

Cold compression test
That helps. I was scared that 85-95 psi cold was too low. I think the engine might need to be broken in again after 25 years of not going anywhere.(the previous owner did start it in 2000).

Cold compression test
What is the difference in psi for a cold engine compared to a warm engine? I did a cold compression test on my 280Z 2+2(I haven't got my fuel system straightened out yet and was told it may have a dead cylinder) today and found 85-95 psi for all 6. Is this normal? Warm engines for a 280Z should be 170-180. How much more pressure will I get once I have my engine running and warm? :paranoid:

280Z vs. 280ZX
Are the brakes front and back on a 280Z the same as a 280ZX(rotors, drums, etc.)?. Which ones are and which ones aren't?
