  1. You need another camera showing you in the cockpit see we can see the smile on your when you get those passes accomplished. Great driving and looks like a lot of fun for the day. Hoping to make Sebring at the end of the year. Tom

Well they say that laughing increases your lifespan. Thanks for the extra time you just gave me. Tom

Fuel coming out from any area other than going into the motor is probably not good. Sticky floats or maybe just typical for flattops like those. I just took my SU round tops off my car if you are interested. They also have the ITG filter. Put triple SKs on since it is only a track car. The SUs gave me 168 rwhp on the dyno so they are running OK for only being tuned by an amatuer. Send me a PM if interested and we can work out a price. It will be cheap compared to what you might be used to. Tom Anybody else interested can also send me a PM....

I am glad to see there is no back door because that would first step would be a doozy. After Fay left here I could use alot of that TN dirt you have laying around. I bought 100 loads of dirt this spring and you can hardly tell where it went on the back of my property. Expensive as dirt is around here I might have to dig a very large pond in one corner and use that dirt as fill. Always another project to take time away from the Z. Tom
  5. Looks like they kept alot of the original look and lines of the first generation cars. It still takes a couple of long looks to get used to the large front opening. But I feel they got the rest of the car lower to the ground which gives it a very modern look. I could buy something like that even if it did not come with a super power plant. Tom

I definitely agree with John Coffey. I had another racer talk me into cutting my exhaust back to the transmission for extra HP and save weight. It is really too loud which makes it hard to hear what the rest of the car is doing on the track. Now I need to get it redone taking it back out to the rear. $100 - $150 that could be spent elsewhere. Tom
  7. Glad to see another gold 260 around the site. Unfortunately mine is now stripped out to use as a track car. The paint code is 304 from Datsun. Is your rear spoiler the standard 3" BRE or is it the taller 5" one. Tom
  8. I went through the same saga with my 260. Spent a lot of cash on all the bits to rebuild it to a daily driver then realized I wanted to race it. For the money spent on rebuilding I could have had one heck of a racecar. Oh well, now I have a track car that looks good also. Tom

Not a funny acronym but I always hating seeing the sign "MEN AT WORK AHEAD" Whatever happened to the womans lib movement demanding equal treatment and their own sign. Tom
  10. It was funny to see that Z in Group 1. My buddy runs his in Group 3 here on the east coast. It has to get to you when car handles so much better than the other roadster in front of you but seems to be underpowered compared to his. Or your driving skills are better than his keeping you so close in the tight sections of the track. Great job. Tom

I am in the process of replacing the leading edge across an entire hood on my project car. I just used some sheet metal bent to same specs as original hood, welded in place with a light coating of body filler to smooth out. All that is left is to put some paint on it. If you just have a small dent you can try straightening metal then filler or just bonda to reform shape. Tom
  12. A couple of very nice cars put into some very nice shots. Tempting fate by parking in the No Parking Zone. Tom

Easiest thing would be to Y it into one then take it out 2.5" the rest of the way. Alot of people who are dropping in V8s would run it out as a true dual exhaust. Just takes a little more effort to get past everything.

I increased the HP on my car by getting more compression and then good header and exhaust to get it all out. I went from 123 rwhp on stock motor to 185 rwhp with those changes only. I used the same cam on both motors just in different heads. P79 to N42. Tom

  16. Well for those who are wondering what type of HP gains can be had from going triple. I just went to triple OER(SKs) 45mm on my car. L28 block, N42 head, MSA Stage III cams & 6-1 header 2.5" exhaust. With SUs 165 rwhp 163 torque With triple OERs 185 rwhp 177 torque. Still more left in motor if I changed to a more agressive cam. Yea I saw that commercial the other day also. Very Cool. Trunk Monkeys also very cool. We always show that group of videos during training classes at the station. Too funny. Tom
  18. I would love to have a set of Triple Mikunis and a complete Wilwood brake setup. Tom
  19. Change all the fluids, hoses and belts. Drain gas tank. Turn the motor over for awhile w/o plugs in it to make sure everything rotates easily. If you still have the carbs on it drain the float bowls and make sure no buildup in there. Then go for a startup. Once running check all running gear and brakes before taking on the road.

Well after seeing those pics I would agree that it is hollow. It seems that it was designed to be either bondo are fiberglassed in to make it look like it is one piece with the hatch. Other than that I would think the install might look cheesy with a bunch on screws going thru it.
  21. It might rise a little bit but not too much. You are probably only losing 100 lbs total with both hood and fenders.
  22. Would love to land a set of triples 45 or 50mm that actually came off a running car and don't need a complete rebuild. I even have a 1977 280 to trade for them. Tom

If you still have the car keep it. If it is just the front end damage you show in your pic that is salvagable . It might mean cutting the front frame and redoing it but if you can do it or know of Z friends with those skills it can be done cheaper that starting from scratch. I crashed my 72 in college and bent the front frame rail and left it at the salvage yard. Big mistake. I have seen people on these sites return Zs worse than yours. If I still had my 72 now some 30 yrs later it would be so sweet. Tom

I find myself trying to decide if I want to continue my next project a 1977 280Z that has rust issues on most body panels(small sections) but a nice interior and engine. If I sell as a whole car all I want is what I have in it $500.00. Alot of people say part it out. What kind of cash increase are you looking at compared to the amount of time required to tear it all apart? For me I think TIME is the most important factor. I have so many other things that need to get done it would have to be a great increase in revenue returned to justify the time involved. Tom

Very nice.... Makes me want to go start on my new project, 77 280Z w/rust body panel problems. And now no front spoiler, was pushing it with the tractor and it went to far into the barn. SMASH. Tom
