  1. An order for a run of composite floats for the round top Hitachis for the Z and 2 liter roadsters is in the works. Particulars coming as they develop. Watch ZTherapy.com or call me. I do know they will be included as standard on all carb sets and available for purchase individually. So for all you guys that have called worried about today's gas and yesterday's floats, the answer is here.
  2. If those carbs are running stock needles, they could be going lean up top. That was very common for stock needles. Fat at idle lean up top. SMs just reverse that.
  3. So you know the "choke on" position will make it run. What you need to do next is to reach under the carbs and make sure the nozzles are popping back up when you take the choke off. Running the car with the chokes on, or they fail to release, for awhile can crap up the plugs. Have someone pull the choke on and off while reaching underneath the carbs to make sure the nozzles are returning. If they appear sticky which is typical of varnished up gas then douche out the nozzle tube with carb cleaner to hopefully free things up. All the can be done by removing the air cleaner. Other than that just running some fresh gas thru it after you get it running some, may help too...... No need to fart with float levels at this point. I seriously doubt anything has happened to change float levels just "sitting there"..... Let us know how you make out......
  4. But a flat top heat shield can be used with the making of two "S" hooks, drilling 2 holes in the heat shield for the hooks and hooking the springs to the hooks. Just and FYI for those of you out there that come here trolling for bits and pieces of information that this forum is known for...... Cheers.....
  5. If you are mounting 4 screws on a 4 screw manifold then the mounting flange won't have the drop down section between the bottom 2 mounting holes. E46 or 48 or something should be the number on the manifold. Anyway the manifold mounting flange (for 4 screw carbs) will be symmetrical because they don't have the provision for water between the two bottom mounting bolts. That alone should answer the question......
  6. Those from Canada won't fit. They came off of something called a 240zed....... Now that's funny I don't care who ya are.
  7. What would you like to get out of them? I just bought two but Steve may want a couple for inventory.
  8. Thanks. Don't ever think to look there for some reason...... Old dog new tricks I guess.....
  9. I'm needing to replace my dirty filter element in honor of the arrival of spring. The last one I bought was thru NISSAN and it was the last one their warehouse had. The parts house doesn't show it available in the books and K&N doesn't offer the one they show. You guys have any suggestions? I'm looking for the 240 element. These are for 46's on a 4 cylinder L-motor and I can always build another housing to take another element but a pain if not needed.
  10. Don't overlook that braking system. Purge all the old fluid and replace and see what you have. Old lines and sitting brake fluid drawing moisture can go a long way toward undermining the brakes ability to work....... Oh, and you'll need carbs....... nyuck nyuck You've found the forum for your solutions....
  11. First thing I'd check for is to make sure you have a little slack in both choke cables to see if the FAT carb's choke is being pulled "On" slightly when the choke is off. That assumes that both carbs were tuned the same at some point previously. If cables are okay then run that FAT carb nozzle up a half turn and drive it. That carb is running rich for whatever reason and you just want to lean it out some.
  12. Don't over look the final filter in the float bowl lid. Could be all plugged with that crud you saw. Also clean the needle and seat and see what that combination of tasks gets you......
  13. Guy, I'd not sensed the quitter in you before. Wud up?
  14. Yeah, you go high and I'll go low and we'll get him....... Er, we'll go over here and park.........
  15. So how about the link there dummy? or if that doesn't work try B-210 from hell.
  16. I have had this FHS around since about '96. Finally got it on DVD. Back story: Steve Epperly the owner of ZTherapy campaigned his GT4 tube frame B-210 and I shot this at the Rose Cups in I think '96. This effort was so successful the SCCA registration gals said when the car was coming to registration..... "well, there's the B-210 from Hell". So, in the midst of the holiday doldrums I wanted y'all to see what happens when you tug on Superman's cape....... Merry Christmas y'all and you all need carbs..... Bruce Almighty ZTherapy
  17. Cheap? I think so..... Someone is buying a set of carbs & struts and the car is thrown in for free.... Too bad it has to go. That's a hellova start you have going on.....
  18. I don't understand what the problem is. The mount is supposed to move as in a cushion mount. Tighten the nut over the lock washer over the flat washer til the nut bottoms on the shoulder of the bolt. If it's still loose it's because the rubber washer is worn out. Now on the float bowl side, if that orientation rubber is gooey it's taken a ride thru some carb cleaner. If not gooey, then get the nut tight and let 'er ride. SU had all that stuff done with metal bushings to insure the whole thing would vibrate to pieces.....
  19. So now that you've secured a new one, what are you going to do with the old one?
  20. All things being equal you can re-cable yours with bike brake cable for a bicycle built for two. Works stick, literally....
  21. As mentioned, you can have some garbage getting by the final filter holding the needle open, OR maybe the float has gotten tweaked holding it in the down position. The last is unlikely but pulling the float bowl lid will show it if it's a problem. If it's grit, then opening up and getting the final filter (inside the hump on the lid) and cleaning it would be a next step. New washers for the banjo fitting would be nice to have on hand as they tend to not reseal well.
  22. Pull the choke on and see if that solves the problem. If it does, then you're more than likely lean which can show up as a spit back through the carbs.....
