  1. Dave, Who knows what somebody might have stuck in there for needles. 2 liter roadster needles were shorter than Z needles. Worked for riching the carbs up top. Early Z cars had the brass knobs as did all the SU SU's.
  2. Needle choice is independent of engine size. Any needle you choose will work. Bruce
  3. Three screw vs 4 screw is a you pick'em deal. The only difference between the kits is the gaskets to the manifold. The 3 screw gaskets have the holes for water. Reliability? That's in the hands of the builder. Our Reman Carb Service carries a 3 year warranty because we can control every step of the process. Remeber too that worn out throttle shafts will not be addressed by the Tune-Up Kit.
  4. Assuming you have round top Hiitiachis on the 2.8 our JUST SUs DVD will walk you through tuning and cleaning etc. www.ztherapy.com
  5. Did you do any adjusting in the float bowls or alter the mixture nut settings under the carbs? If pulling the choke on works, you're lean.
  6. Sand the insulators to remove the gaskets. We sell 'em. Don't have any suggestions on what to do about the color of the insulators.
  7. I'm voting for bling!! Half your work is done and it wont matter a bit. The 4 screw carbs on the N33 manifold will work fine but grab a set of the thick insulators off the N46 manifold and change to the longer studs to go with the insulators. Take a look at our Smooth and Clean balance tube picture to see what can come off. The brake booster tap coming off the top of the balance tube may need some fiddling if your hose is preformed for the end tap nipple on the balance tube.
  8. These guys? What guys would that be? The Governor called for this measure to be written up in the first place.
  9. The secret is to take one carb apart and do it while leaving the other together as a cheater..... If it were me doing it, I'd drain the fuel system and get it all cleaned out and dry before letting it sit for two more years and go through the carbs just before reloading with fresh fuel and lighting it off. Time and static fuel systems aren't each other's friends. How long has the car been down now? What else do you have going on with the car during this interim 2 year period?
  10. This is called "flex thread"...... Happens all the time. nyuck nyuck
  11. The timing of this contact is pretty funny as I was watching a program this past weekend about the Gloucester fishing industry over the years.
  12. Is that out of a MA seacoast car? Looks like the engine has been around the world underwater...... Anyway the carbs are vanilla Zcar carbs. Call with a credit card and we'll get a tune up kit coming. 503-587-9800 Our JUST SUs DVD will walk you through the process.
  13. So I suppose that if you were to ship it somewhere out of country to have bushings put in, they'd romp you when it shipped back into the country. The moral: that thing in your pocket that feels like a hand..... is!!
  14. Yep, beauty is only skin deep but stupid goes........ you know.... I can see van loads of tire pressure Nazis pulling into the mall parking lot with tire gauges ready to cuff 'em and drag 'em off to the hoosgow. The older I get the crazier things become. This really only points out our need to stay in front of the folks with the law writin' sticks. Is that hoosgow is spelled?? Buller..... Anyone.....?
  15. House Bill 2186 surely comes under the heading of how in the hell are you going to implement it? Oem tires only because of rolling resistance of aftermarket tires wasting gas. I venture to say most people can't even check their tire pressures. My brother in law and I attended the second session of hearings this past Tuesday and there was a lot of "anti" testimony being heard. The chairman of the committee said before they started that he was not aware there were so many aftermarket manufacturers in existance and the volume of "what are you people thinking" emails (from the sema email I'm sure) were many. How long could any old Datsun be kept alive if we had to aource parts only through NISSAN? In most cases there is nothing left but aftermarket for Datsuns and any other brand...... With the state of the state of Oregon (and most others) at the moment, this kind of nonsense just wastes time and effort.
  16. Any good automotive machine shop should be able to install new bushing in your housing. What color are the yellow pages in Denmark? :classic:
  17. Just figured out one thing here on this thread. When we get the cars to sell, ready to sell, we will be taking them to Edmonton. Pretty nice prices. Must be oil patch money.....
  18. I'm guessing going from a 14X6 to a 16X9 regardless of off-set will be a stretch. The tires it'll take to fit the 9" wheels aren't going to help the fit problem either.
  19. I've seen similar where because of worn throttle shafts, over-size return springs have been installed to get things to idle down. What, in fact, happens is the too heavy return springs will pull the shafts into a bind thus requireing the "tap'.............
  20. This is exactly one of those "get one done now" deals. Wait until you need to do one only to find out these parts are NLA, will not be good. Arne, Leroy say you done good....... You can in fact lead 'em to water......
  21. Do a search in Phoenix. There appear to be several listed under that category. I'd guess there are 75 outfits between Portland Oregon and Tucson that can freshen up a tach.
  22. It will require an oil change with a potion of some sort that is designed to cut carbon build up in the ring groove where the expander has crudded up locking the 2 oil rings in the collapsed position. Ask me how I know..... For the potion just ask around. For every 12 guys you ask you'll get 12 different recipes.
