What you look like.
The Rogers Centre (aka skydome for most of the locals still...) is a nice venue to go to for sure. I remember when i got to go to my first game after it was built, so much better than the old stadium they had. FWIW Jay's got hammered by the Yanks on 9/11. On the upside it was my wife's first baseball game ever so it was fun.

does this seat look like it'll fit? measurements
This is the shape/diamnetions of a recaro seat that my friend is selling. when i measured my stock seat it seems very close to me. my stock seat bottom is about 21.5" wide (probably flattened out from 31yr use) and about 32" tall, width of the seat seams to be a tad wider but there seems to be room. Can anyone who has done a swap look at these measurements and know if it'll fit (obviously with some fab work for rails) Real pic of seats here: Thanks!

So pumped...
Just thought that I'd share that I got the JTR manual in the mail. I'm so pumped I can't wait to read it... my wife won't know what is going on since I'm not a huge advocate of reading ... Good times coming! Oh and I got a quote on my bottom end for my stroker.

Finally Running! Break in time.
personally i'd change the oil very regularly for the first 1000miles like after first fire up, 100miles, 250miles, 500miles and 1000miles...then just regular after that. just to make sure that if anything was in there its now out. i know a few people that break in engines this way.

Tell us about your Z!
My Z is in amazing shape IMO for it being 30+yrs old. I could definately drive it daily if I so chose to do so but I don't becuase i drive 35+k miles a year for work and canadian winters wouldn't be fun. That said I drove it from Seminol Florida to Cambridge Ontario, Canada when I bought it on new year's eve 2006. 2200km of non-stop driving without a single hiccup even with bad valve adjustment. It ran 10fold better after that was done, great milage for how much overlapp the camshaft has as well. Definately a solid car. I was lucky enough to win a best in class for 280z modified with it last month. I knew when we bought the car that it was in really good shape and looked great. having now had much more experienced Z owners give it a thorough look over and judge it to be best in class I almost have a new appreciation for it. This winter I will be doing a motor swap and pulling the F54/P79 combo for a bowtie-383. This car has definately brought me lots of smiles since I've owned it. Its something i open the garage door and see it and even just the smell of sitting in it makes me smile. When I'm out in the Z nothing else matters, just the car and the road. I'm calling it my 1/3rd life crisis car (just turned 25), my wife is scared what will happen when I turn 50... i'll probably buy another one and make a clone of the one we have now. hehehe obligatory picture from the car show

Fatmat
Since we are on sound deadeners I will HIGHLY recommend Elemental Designs Edead product. I have over 200 sq/ft in my daily driver, my wife's car and the Z is next. Fast shipment, sales/service support like crazy and awesome prices (search discount and v1 is $.80/sq/ft!) lots of different thickness' as well as a closed cell foam for higher frequencies. www.edesignaudio.com

Fuel, regular or extra?
I run premium (we only have 91 or 94 available) for daily flogging and track use.when i drove the car home from florida all highway I just ran 87 or regular and i had no issues, but that was consistant speeds and nothing hard on the car. cheap piece of mind for me with the slightly higher CR (flat tops) and the large cam in the car.

post your joke of the day!
^^^ LMAO A young man tells some friends of his recent engagement and as usual most of his friends tell him not to get married for various reasons. An older gentleman who over heard them interjected that his friends were right. the newly engaged man asked him why he agreed with them the man responded "when I was young and just dating women we used to have sex everywhere, now that i'm married we only have it in the vagina..."

blower blowing, no heat...
Well I bought my Z ('76 280z, F54 block, 5spd, factory a/c removed)from Florida this past winter (dec 30th) and I didn't think to ask about the heater. On my wonderful drive to Ontario, Canada (the people north of you, eh) I thought, hey I should turn the heat on as it was cold. well air was coming out, but i can certainly tell you it wasn't warm... so all in all it doesn't bother ME per se, but my wife on chilly evening drives home kind of curses at me that I have fixed it yet so she can be warmer. 1)where would one start to dianose the issue of no heat into the cabin? I'm not sure if it was intentional as the owner was a Floridian and didn't need it, or whether its just in-opperative. 2) On my heater controls I can move my lever to any vent position but it only ever works on the footwells. When its at the defroster it still blows at my feet? is this common and is there a fix? As always I appreciate any help in fixing this.

Whats your fuel economy?
when i bought the 76 280z i made the mistake of asking what kind of milage he was getting in the car (kinda wanted to know since i had a 1500mile drive home in it). He said in town about 9mpg but on the highway i should be able to get 18 or so... On my trip home I got about 20-23 (lower in the mountains) which I thought was phenominal for the car considering the big cam etc etc it has I did a 95mile drive yesterday to a friends place (round trip) and I used about 3/8tank. Shitty deal was that i was in a 50mph zone following people doing 50... I can't shift it into 5th at 50 as the car resonates TOO much and the RPM's are too low IMO for the gear (a hair over 2000) so I was in 4th for a lot longer than I liked. My usual cruising speeds on the highways around here is 70-75 (ok sometimes 80) and I usually can get 150-175miles to the top half IIRC. For a 31y/o car with a mod'd engine I can't complain as I don't drive it like a granny either... I bought it to drive it hard like the sports car it is when it broke, i fixed it and continue to go at it!

Watch my Z video!!!
I like the 95? GP in the beginning (used to own a 99 GTP, janaka on clubgp). Very nice 280Z, I have a '76 280z now since I've sold the GP. Loved the powerslide on the gravel

worth upgrading carbs?
Hey guys; I'm listing my entire mod list on my L28. I'm considering upgrading to triple weber carbs but I'm not sure if the gains are worth the cash outlay. The local guy is asking $600cdn for the 3 carbs, 3 rebuild kits, new linkage, manifold and all. Would my mod list below warrant these carbs for power gains? My current setup is pulling 162hp/162trq at the wheels. L28 #F54 engine block, flattop pistons, siamesed cylinders. The block was professionally boiled and cylinders honed. New- piston rings, crankshaft bearings, oil pump, timing gear and chain kit, water pump, freeze plugs, gaskets and seals, hoses and belt. P79 cylinder head. Performance rebuild including- resurfaced head, 3 angle valve grind, rocker arms, lash pads, springs and retainers, seals. Schneider cam- .460 valve lift, 270 intake duration, 280 exhaust duration. Dual domed top 4 screw SU carbs- rebuilt, performance needles and nozzles. N33 carb intake manifolds. K&N air filter. MSA 6 into 1 header. MSA 2.5 inch aluminized performance exhaust with super turbo muffler. Holley “RED†fuel pump with adjustable pressure regulator. Late model “close ratio†5-speed transmission. 2+2 flywheel mated to a Perfection brand performance clutch. R-200 differential with 3.90 gears, new u-joints, rebuilt half shafts, solid diff mount. Nissan electronic distributor with a E12-80 ignition module, Standard Plus UC15 12V coil, NKG BPR6ES-11 spark plugs, Standard Plus silicone core A-5 spark plug wires, new fusible links and covers. much appreciated

Cam Spec
I'm running a Schneider cam- .460 valve lift, 270 intake duration, 280 exhaust duration with dual SU's, header, 2.5 MSA full exhuast and I put down 162RWHP and 162Ft/lb torque this spring. that was with a P79 head 3angle job and new hardware all around. its got a nice idle and still gets decent milage

Z left me stranded, any help appreciated
well its running again it seems. WOO HOO i feel like an idiot the size of ontario but I can deal with that since I have a running/driving Z again. I should have done the KISS method. I looked at my fluids, all of them that i could find and one little carb damper bowl was dry. :? so I went into my chiltons, found the lubircant/oil needed SAE20 and went to buy some. Took me about half a dozen stores but I found it. Silly thing is they only had a 4L jug of it and i needed about 1.5oz of it.. needless to say last night I filled both to the fill lines and today (just now) fired it up and rolled it to the street... waited about 30seconds then gave her hell. Drives like a champ again. Now my brakes are squeaking so i'll get that looked at but nevertheless I'm happy as a proverbial pig in $^!# ! Thanks guys for all the help and advice and postiveness!
