Gauges
I have replaced all gauges except the speedometer and just the luck it went out may be the cable but i have been installing autometer gauges in the places where others have quit. Does anyone have an idea what speedo model i would need and if it is elec. or mech. that would tell me if i need the sensor for the tranny and that brings me too another point of what sensor would i need to get. Thanks for your time.

pimpjester's Avatar Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Joplin, Missouri Posts: 35 Question 71' 240z Hi first off I ate a rod bearing on my L24 so i pulled it out and dropped in a L28 from a 280z parts car motor ran not good then bad injectors but it would still drive. I installed all my stuff off of my 71' 240 onto it, I have a 76' electronic ignition new wires and good plugs, also installed my headers, aswell as my dual weber carbs did all that turn the key and it starts not smooth like my old one but starts. The problem is if u give it any gas at all it stumbles and tries to die, half the time it will die but start right back up at the turn of the key. I have checked my timing and i am confused i set distributor at the 11 o'clock it calls in chilton check rotor and its at the #1 spot like it should be. My father was helping me out and he was reving it up it seemed to get better so we continued tweaking it to get it smooth and it didn't help same thing. I have good fuel, fuel pressure, plugs,wires, spark, and compression. What I don't have is a freaking clue. Old motor ran like a top smooth and strong so i know parts are good that i have put on but is there a timing issue that the l28 has that changes from efi to carbs. 73 240 won't run
Loosen ur gas cap and try to start it, I know it sounds dumb but if your cap is bad then it will do that, Another possibility is tank venting not just the cap but the vent on your tank basically starving u out of gas. Hope it helps I am have trouble with my Z as well. Good Luck

no heat
heres the weird part i had a problem with my fan a few months back and had heat good heat then, but now nothing my fan came unplugged then i have plugged it back in since and all i get is cold air. So i am sure that its not bypasses due to rupture or leak. now i bet u can understand why i am clueless thanks

Just wandering if u all have good ideas for paint on a 240 Z i am wanting ideas and looking into all possibilities it is white right now with gray primer for work i have been doing to it and need help deciding when i am ready to paint.

no heat
ok i reached back next to firewall and the regulator u all are talking about feels real loose like its not doing anything is there a bypass for it or do i need to buy a new on i am not worried about adjusting it i want to leave it set for heat only no reason for the cold function just defrost and toes in winter is all.
