A friend and I bought rear hatch sill panels a few months ago (exchange was 1 to 1.55 then) and it was about $161 for 2 (yes that's *2*) including shipping. A door skin will probably be quite a bit more shipping wise and the exchange rate isn't as good now. I haven't installed it yet but the part looks identical to the one on the car except where the hatch latch striker sticks through. The hole is a little smaller so that's easy to massage. Steve

    It's interesting that it's a subjective test. Were they just going by feel when they recorded the torque(or load as several other forums have the article saying) ? BTW it's force * distance for torque. Steve

    Brake fluid only. If you use any kind of petroleum based product, oil, ATF, etc. you will destroy the rubber seals in the system. Steve

    If you have a lot of air trapped in the master sometimes gravity bleeding won't work well. But it's easy to try first before moving on to more complex methods. Steve

    Most of the time you can just open the bleeder on the slave and gravity will pull the fluid out. Just keep the reservoir full. ' Steve
  10. Have you actually checked the timing with a timing light? Steve
  11. Cutlass372, It is possible that the master cylinder is bad and what you are seeing is the movement of the slave as the pressure bleeds off. This might give the appearance of things moving the opposite of the way they should. Or maybe whoever was helping you was letting off the clutch instead of pushing it down when you were expecting them to be pushing.

  14. Did you compare rods before hand. I replaced mine a while back and the rod on the new one was too short so I used the old rod. I assume you bled the system? Your clutch fork moves in the wrong direction? You probably need to look at that again. The master cylinder can't make the slave, and or release fork, move backwards. Steve

    IIRC, there was a direct drive five speed available from Datsun Competition. Was that a dog leg? I always liked the dog leg pattern as once you are moving you rarely use first again so the gears that you use the most are in the typical H. Steve

With the almost 50/50 weight distribution of the Z I don't think that is a concern. YMMV. Steve

    If the rear wheels can't steer when fronts are on the dolly then why would the fronts need to steer if the rears were on the dolly? On a tow bar you must leave the steering unlocked but a tow dolly does the steering. Steve

    Obviously, but why would it matter. You won't be driving the car. You can refill the trans later or, leave the shaft in the trans but disconnect it from the differential. Or what many people do is plug the transmission. The important point is, if you don't keep the trans output shaft from turning you will burn it up. Steve

    Not really any worse than driving it. No wear on the engine and 150 lbs less weight ( the driver) to carry. Steve

    You must remove the driveshaft to do so. Otherwise the output shaft of the transmission will turn but no gears will turn to splash oil around to keep it lubricated. You could always tow backwards with the front end on the road. Steve
  21. I bet they are way better than marginal. I've been watching your replies to AC related threads, and I'm no expert, but I'm convinced that you know your stuff. Steve
  22. It wasn't meant as a slight:laugh: I did all my AC work when I lived in Tucson. I've often seen a difference with recirc and fan speed with marginal systems stuggling under 100+ degree temps. I guess under "normal" circumstances it really doesn't make much difference. Underhood temp, I didn't think of that one. Steve
  23. Sleight of hand like being on recirculate and a low fan speed. On a cool California evening as well maybe. Z train is knocking 50 degrees off the outside temp and that ain't too bad. Not disagreeing with your points at all though. Steve

  25. I understand, I just wanted to make sure he didn't over tighten the bearings. I've seen many ruined bearing sets. Almost always sitting behind a spindle nut that was tightened too much. Steve
