Back to my Z
I'm heading home after 2 months commercial salmon fishing in Alaska. (waiting for 8 hrs in Seatac airport for a flight to Walla Walla) I missed driving my Z and my daily visit to this site) Good to be back. Jon Pics are my crew the last day I fished. Time to go home for sure!

z therapy installation
This maybe overkill on my part, but I always turn the engine over without the choke to get some oil pressure. My Z starts fast and revs a bit with the choke on during a cold start. Jon

A new pic of the 73
I forgot to add that Walla Walla has many days of hot 90-105 degree temps.

A new pic of the 73
I took the insulation off of my 73 and I have not had any problems. I have had it off for a 240 with standard fuel pump setup and the 280 engine with and electric fuel pump. Good looking Z by the way. Jon

Engine cooling questions.
I just got the shroud about 3 weeks ago. I put it on my aluminum radiator, I welded taps on the radiator so I could fasten it on the radiator. I think it help alot. Last week it got to the mid 90s, my temp, while sitting in traffic, only climbed a fraction of an inch. Jon

Mpg....
The last 3 fill-ups I have been watching the mpg. I've gotten 21, 20, and 19.5 in town with somewhat carefull driving. (very hard to keep off the foot off the gas)

Rebuilding the engine
Ah, I reread your post. I just got up and now my poor brain has cleared a bit. Rebuilt heads should mean the seals have been replaced. What type of black do your spark plugs show, that could tell you if it's oil or fuel. Jon

Rebuilding the engine
Sounds like your valve seals need replaced. There are some good threads on this, and how to replace them with the head on the motor. Also how to tell if they are worn. Jon

Just finished transplant (swap)
Today at noon I finished putting a 83 l28, with Ztherapy su's and a n33 intake. I also cut all the junk off the balance tube and welded all the holes, then ground welds down and polished the tube and intakes. I was in heaven when my 73 240z fire right up on the 1st try. I spent the rest of the afternoon going nowhere fast, and fine tuning everything. Wow what a smooth power-plant. Alot of what I did was researched on this site. Thanks so much for the time many of you have spent over the years sharing your ideas and information. Digging for the ghost of past Z's and reading about what makes a great car better has made this a journey to treasure. Jon
