again, stupid question alert: why would putting efi in there be so hard? i am guessing it would be because of the need for an ecc and a pressurized fuel system where once there was none? i would imagine all the fuel lines from the tank up would need to be replaced and all that jazz to handle the pressure of efi? :stupid:

hey there. i have a 5/70 240 with the stock L6. it is manually choked, mechanical fule pump, a real pain to start in the winter especially. i am thinking about options to make this less of a pain in the arse to start. i am not necessarily looking to dump thousands and thousands, maybe 2k-3k if need be. i am also not a z expert, so if any of my questions sound stupid, sorry. i was thinking: install an electric fuel pump, upgrade the coil and ignition and dizzy to hei and get my carbs tuned. ooooooor, just do an engine swap. if the swap, what can i put in there? i heard some mention of a L28 being a good match for a 70 240? thanks. happy toolin'

hey all. well, finally got my Z (1970 240 may/70 30 series)and the guy i got it from let it sit for the last year and a half. now that i got all the squirrels out of it, i want to start it. i know it starts, i witnessed it first hand, invloved a lot of jumper cables and ether. i had it flat bedded to my house and now, it wont start. i am thinking new plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter, battery and drain the fuel from the lines and hoping this will start my poor neglected child. any other suggestions? something i may have missed? thanks.

Yeah, I couldn't really see how the bumber would affect the exhaust, but, I'm new to the Z. Thanks for the info. I would like to get it tucked up in there though. I dont like dangly thingys. (technical jargon)

Hmm, I am a little fuzzy on this I think. What are exactly the "overriders"?

Sblake, if I remember correctly, the vin is 03960. The car is not here, so I cant go look at the tag, but I think it was 3960. I remember that cuz the guy I am getting it from told me that some schmuck at the DMV mis-titled it as a HLS300396Q and it was a hell of a time getting the car titled correctly back then. Thank God that's all squared away now and not my headache.:stupid:

Curtis, do you mean the way the exhaust tip hangs down out of the cutout? That is a 2 1/2" exhaust on there and not the original, which I think was a 1 7/8" Could that be the reason? How would the bumper affect that?

No intrusion at all GF. My car actually is not original paint. Although the original was green, it was not metal flake, which this car now is. And I assume that your avatar is your bro's car? then, yes, they look very, very similar. Good luck with it. (her? him? do chicks call their cars her?, something else I don't know about women, hmm)

mriz, I have added you to my buddy list and when I am going to get rid of the wheels, I will give you a shout. I cant promise when that will be, but, you'll get first dibs. Dan

Hmm, I hadn't noticed the forward/rearward facing rims. Good eye. I was thinking about a flame thrower, I think I settled on a hood mounted laser cannon though. Seriously though, that is smoke, the car sat for about a year, the gas is ancient, and some of that smoke is probably from a squirrel.

And it doesn't appear to have defroster lines on the hatch window. Now, this is not a criticism but the first thing I would do is lose those 15" 'Swastika' wheels. Just my personal preference as I don't care for ZX wheels on an S30. Actually, it does have defroster lines on the rear hatch. Unfortunately, the defroster is not currently operational. I agree with you on the wheels. While I do not intend to do a full original resto on her, I am at odds with the 280 wheels on the 240. I am fairly certain the guy said he still has the original wheels. Also, although not seen in the pics, the steering wheel is off a 280ZX and he has the original one of those as well. The car is in fact in really good cond structurally. There are a few paint pops, and some superficial rust. The rockers were cut out and replaced, and the passenger door exterior sheet metal has sprung loose from the inner door frame, but I am thinking some epoxy and a couple of spring clamps should remedy that unless anyone has a better suggestion. I dont know if I mentioned the price, but it's 2K USD. I think that's an absurdly good price don't you?

Hey everyone. I have ben lurking for a few weeks and checking out this fantastic site. My name is Dan and am from Lancaster PA by way of Brooklyn NY. Big friggin' difference there I'll tell ya what. Anyway, when I was about 9, there was this girl that lived on my street in Bklyn, and she was like 25 and I thought she was Venus incarnate. I had a major crush on her. Anyway, she drove this powder blue or sky blue 240 or 260, I don't know which, I was 9 like I said. So, all my impressionable life I was left with the opinion that the Z was the hottest car this side of the universe. I used to think I liked the Z for her, now I realize I only liked her for her Z! At any rate, I finally got me one of these bad boys. It is in decent shape, runs and drives well. needs some minor TLC, has great paint, good interior, has some minor (I hope) electrical issues. (I know minor and electrical don't go in the same sentence, but I am being optimistic) The car is not at the moment road worthy, it sat for an extended period and has dry rot on the tires, who knows what the brake lines and or pads, rotors, drums are like. We did start it up (thank you ether) and it has a nice throaty rumble with what almost sounds like an erratic cam, but is in fact stock. It is a 1970 240 born on 5/1970. I still dont know too much about the Z's, but the guy I am getting it from says it has the "East Coast" emmisions package?? Something to do with California being more strict, (even back then) and getting a leaner car, then they decided just to make them all Cali acceptable? I dont know. Anyone? Also, he said the valve cover is somewhat unique in that it says nissan 2400 OHC and later ones just say Nissan OHC? I will try to post the pics now. Anyway, I am so stoked to be one of you now. I can't wait to drive her. hope that works. peace out, dan
