Alternator went out and this is a very good time to swap to 280ZX Alternator,I ordered the plug from MSA and I am waiting for it to arrive......Wow I am swapping a lot of 280ZX parts to this 70 240Z and I am lucky enough to have all the swap parts just laying around. Next after the 280ZX Alternator and make sure it run and drive good then will be the good time to swap to rear disk brakes.

Found out about the 15/16 Master from 79 280ZX...will fit but I have to reverse the lines so the Rear reservoir goes to Front wheels and the front goes to rear wheels.

You are right....it ran better when we timed her at 12 degree TDC @800 RPM.

I am wondering if I can use a 15/16 Brake master cylinder instead of the regular 7/8 master in my 240Z.I have 15/16 master laying around and just to save some money and maybe I will upgrade the brake system in the near future??

Yeah a new battery but got weaken due to a lot of cranking to start before using the 280ZX Distributor, I will tighten the posts and recharge it. I will recheck the timing again tomorrow and get back to you guys.......When we did the timing we just lined up the magnet teeth thing inside the distributor(sorry I don't know what it's called) and made sure the balancer mark lined up with the arrow on the timing cover(there is no numbers plate there.....just an arrow plate). After that we just fire it up and Voalla the engine started. Still though I need to adjust the valves and again recheck the timing. Thanks guys for the replies.

Finally...The Z is alive and running off a gas can right now.The motor sounds healthy and solid.Got lucky there.....the Z been sitting since 2002 and I thought it has a bad engine.I had to replace the mechanical Fuel pump(the old one starts to leak). Also swapped to 280ZX Distributor...much efficient and way better than points!! 280ZX internal reg Alternator next. Such a releaf ...now I will jump to fix the clutch and brake system.so I can drive it around!! Scratched couple things from the long list.......

I have a set of front 280ZX struts casing with spindles.I can swap for a front and rear struts bars for my 70 240Z.

No I wish....the PO replaced the whole middle console with 72 240Z with only one choke lever. Mine is a 7/70 built date......I am in hunt for a early 70 middle console complete... I found some but they want as much as I paid for the Z???!!!

Wow That is great find.....just 6000 Z's between mine and yours!!Lol Post a picture, let us see it! These are Dealer option Wheels.When you buy the Z, the dealer sell you these wheels to make money,and that time not everybody care about hupcaps. Congrats on the rare find,but again we need to see a picture.

Thank You guys for the comments.... I want to make her run and drive first then We will see about restoration.....Just bought a driver side Fender,Driver side door,complete rear clip(I will get the rear hatch lock panel,tail light panel and rear lower valance) also bought a front Valance and all the missing small parts.Also bought an original radio(can't find the correct year Radio so it will have the 72 73 Radio) and pointy correct year antenna. I hope she will be running and drive next week or so.

I need to get her up and running first.Then I will see if I want to sell or keep.I Always ending up selling anyway(To the right Person/Price). No Rust except the rear Hatch Lock Panel and there is a couple of holes in the spare tire well and all that from sitting outdoor with car cover and rain got to these two areas because of hatch bad seal...everything else still intact and some minor surface rust spots.

Just pulled the Carbs and went out for rebuild.I will pull the gas tank next.

The PO lived a few miles from me and he called me asking if I am interested.He owned it since 1972,Repainted a few times...the original color is Dark Green Code # 907

Just bought a 70 240Z # 6920,last time ran was on 2002....needs a lot of work but almost a complete car. I will update you guys on her.... The Z arrived to new home.
