280Z brake pedal goes to floor
I do remember reading that you need to start bleeding the brakes from the driver side rear, then pass. rear, pass. front and then driver front. The driver side rear is the farthest point from the master cylinder.

pacesetter on my 260z
I put a Pacesetter on my 280 last summer but have only driven it about 10 miles since. It sounds fine, a bit louder than stock but not bad, not ricey at all. It sticks out in back to compensate for the large bumpers and looks a bit long on mine since I switched to a 240 rear bumper. I did notice as a plus, no exhaust fumes though. I read a mixed bag of reviews before purchasing, more good than bad.

Any thought on having a car wrapped in vinyl?
Sarah, I agree with your opinions, especially concerning printed graphics. I would not go that route though, I was more interested in doing a solid opaque color. I've posted a few .jpg's along with a link. I figured if its good enough for a new GT-R or F430, my Z might work as well. I'm just throwing it out there, I actually orderd a sample of a product today to play with. It is silver metallic, 4 mils thick with a gloss laminate. It comes in a 60 inch wide format. I am trying to figure a layout to eliminate any seam using this product. I have seen a company that makes one much wider, to where you blanket the entire car thus eliminating any seam whatsoever. Check out the photos, especialy the sweet GT-R. http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/2728/3681/31819340024_large.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z79/rbmuscle/header_gtr.jpg http://www.carblog.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/ferrari-f430-scuderia-black-matte-1.jpg http://www.carblog.co.za/2008/05/05/car-of-the-week-ferrari-f430-matte-black/

Any thought on having a car wrapped in vinyl?
You are right, they have been using some form of vinyl on cars for many years. Dating back to (at least) my moms 1968 Olds station wagon woodie. The technology has vastly improved, especially over the past 5-6 years. Typically, a wrapped vehicle incorporates some type of graphics for advertising. Now they come in solids, metallics, transparents, etc. I will ahve to serach out some of the links I've found to post here. I have seen everything from a guy doing an entire car in his garage to a Ferarri, Porrche, even a McLaren Mercedes being wrapped in a flat black. I am just kicking around the idea, it would be MUCH cheaper than an average paint job, even with professional installation. Just thought I would throw this out here for discussion, I searched before posting and didnt come up with any previous threads.

Any thought on having a car wrapped in vinyl?
I have been researching the past couple days the possibility of wrapping my car instead of painting it. I have looked at alot of photos and videos by googling the subject and it is interesting. A roll of Oracal, (comes in 15 metallic colors) is around $600. Of course there is a learning curve on installation but much less so than painting it myself. The photos Ive seen are impressive, the life of the product is 8-10 years for "normal" driving conditions. Does anyone have any thoughts, experience on this?

hi guys thinking of a z
I am sure that everyone on here would agree with this, find the cleanest car possibe to start with. Check all the usual suspect areas for rust. Evaluate your skills on what work you can do to save on labor or plan on spending ALOT more coin to get it where you want it to be. A decent suspension, (lowering springs, struts, bushings, tie rods, ball joints, etc) will set you back about $1,000 for parts alone. Rims and tires will run at least $1,000, I just bought a set of 15" Konig Rewinds with 225 Toyo tires shipped for $1,100. A paint job? Plan on $3,000 for mediocre to $6-$8 for a nice one. Of course, this just scrtaches the surface. Add new brakes, interior, exhaust, etc and the price really starts to climb. I plan on having about $8,000 in repairs & uprades once completed and have done all the work myself, learning as I go.

Now I thought you got the alternative section?? I would have liked the pic of the asian, thats more my style! Mine came with the Money section of USA Today, a section I had already previewed at work btw! Dave, I almost pulled out my can of POR today for the mount but ended up going to see the Bengals play, I cant wait to finally try my POR15 Kit!

Got mine as well today, glad you didnt put the alternative section in mine, if you did, I sure as heck wouldnt admit to reading it Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to do this for all of us. The mount looks great, enough to get my lazy a$$ back out into the garage now and continue with the rear end rebuild. If you have been hedging on one of these, grab one up before they are gone!

Strut insulators
that kit does not come with the insulators, I am not even sure if E/S makes them. You can buy them from Motorsports though but be prepared to pay a bit, they are not cheap. I reused mine but like others on here, my bumpstops were literally dust!

Pay it forward!!!
I have a set of front brake pads, I beleive they are ceramic, brand new in a box. I bought a set of cross drilled rotors last summer and they came with them. I decided to do the Toyota caliper upgrade rendering the pads useless, to me at least. Free to a good home, p.m. me.

What worst car have you bought ever?
I have always had good luck with cars and have bought the majority of them new, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Dodge Dakota 4X4,and beleive it or not, my current car, a 2005 Hyundai Sonata that has 69K trouble free and maintenence free miles on it right now but I will get to that car in a moment. When gas started to climb, I dumped my 4X4 for a 2003 Hyundai Accent GT 5 door, a cheap, economical car. It was nicely equipped for the price, leather, power sunroof, etc. 11 months into owning it, my 3 year old spotted a black Jeep Wrangler and told my wife and I that he thought it was cool. Mommy said, Jimmy, do you want Daddy to get a black Jeep like that? Long story short, I traded in the Accent for a brand new 2004 Jeep Wrangler... The soft top buffeted in the wind, it got terrible mileage, getting my son in and out of the back was a challenge. No power anything, the ride quality was awful. My wife (5 feet even) bitched about climbing in and out of it. Even the coolest part of it, taking the top down in nice weather required 5 minutes to drop and 10 minutes to put back up. I ended up HATING the thing. One day after driving to Toledo from Cincinnati and back on business and getting beat to hell and back on the drive, I drove to a Hyundai dealer the next and bought my current Sonata. They were discounting them heavily and with the bath I took on the Jeep, it was the only thing that made sense at the time. When I picked my son up that day at daycare, he asked what car it was, then asked "Why is it called a Hyundai". I told him if he wasnt in Daycare (at $760 a month) it would be called a Mercedes

New paint ... Finally!!!
I've thought the same thing, I may clean them up and paint them out black when I finally do my paint job. Thanks for the compliment btw, that is one of the photo's that were on the Ebay ad from which I bought the car. Unfortunately, photos are deceiving and in my case, very much so As I've said many times in the past about my Z, its nothing a few hundred hours and $6-7 K wont fix
