I have bought many items from Mike. He is extermely knowledgeable, honest, and a real nice guy. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for Z parts. Here is the link to his site: http://www.zzxdatsun.com/ FYI, he does not update his site on a regular basis so you are better off calling him if you do not see what you are looking for.

Wow Jerry that is awesome news. I will be at ZCON this year so I definately want to see your car if Les brings it. I agree with 72OJ, enter the car to be judged. It will never be cleaner than the day he delivers it to you. Is he bringing it in an enclosed trailer?
  3. Hi Walter, I have a subscription to Automobile so I think it arrives in my mail box a few weeks before they are on the newsstand. I get about five auto magazine and right now I have all the October issues.
  4. I just received my October 2012 issue of Automobile. To my surprise on the front cover there is a title "Scion FR-S vs Datsun 240Z" The article runs from page 70 to 76. There are some great pictures of the silver 240Z alongside the FR-S. I only read the beginning of the article to learn that Nissan allowed the journalist to use the 1971 Vintage Z that Nissan owns for this article. Just wanted to share this with all of you in case you want to purchase this magazine while it is on the newstands. I will be reading the complete article tonight after I get all the items on my Saturday to do list done.
  5. DJ, Welcome to the family! Blue interiors were rare. Don't change the interior. Sounds like the previous owner replaced the seat covers with black. Not sure if you can still find reproduction seat covers in blue but if you can, that is something I would highly recommend. Also I am partial to white Z's so if you repaint the car it would look awesome and increase it's value to return it to the stock original color. I am doing a concourse restoration on my 72 240Z which was an original California car. trust me, you can spend a lot on a restoration depending on how far you want to take the car. What matters most is how much you enjoy owning this Z. Let you gut and heart dictate how much you want to spend. If it brings you joy and satisfaction and you plan to keep the car, go for it. Also if you are able to do most of the work yourself, you will save a ton of money that way. Be sure to become familiar with the search function on this site. You will find almost every topic you can think of by doing a search. Good luck with your new Z and please post some pictures!
  6. Zedyonne or Arne, Can you give me the model number of the Kenwood speaker you used and where you bought it? Does anyone have an old factory speaker that I can salavge the bracket from? I am reinsalling the AM/FM factory radio in my 72Z.

Jerry, Keep the pictures coming of your car. Thanks,
  8. Check with Bad Dog Parts. John has developed a new replacement for the seat frames that span the floor pan. John is excellent to deal with. http://baddogparts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_8

Frank, Congratulations. The car looks awesome. Great color combination. Just curious as I can't tell from the pictures, what color are the side stripe? Did you polish the wheels to that level or did the previous owner. They look sweeet Good luck with your newest family member

I just received my new clock from Ron at Z Clocks. The clock looks outstanding. I will post some pictures of it when I get home. It is worth the price, it looks like I boght a brand new clock from Nissan! Thanks Ron.

Hey Rich, Congratulations on winning first place against some very nice cars. You have a beautiful car so it was well deserved. Thank you for helping to add to the credibility of our Z cars and getting them more recognition at concours events like this one.
  12. Hi Frank, Those pictures are disturbing for a fellow Z guy to see! I am amazed to hear that you only received minor injuries given the severity of the crash. Count your blessing to be writing this post! My body shop does hot rods and has dealt with Haggerty before. He swears by them and feels they are the best when it comes to collector car insurance. His experience in the past was they approved repairs over the phone without sending an adjuster to the shop. Once the job was done they mailed a check to his shop promptly. So hopefully you are going to be treated well by Haggerty. Please keep us posted as I am also insured with Haggerty. Good luck!

Have bought parts from Eiji. He is top notch to deal with, very honest and as everyone else has said, he is a great guy. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

That car deserves to be crushed!
  15. I was hoping at least one of them would have been on the Speed TV show. All that sold went for under $20,000. There are still a 78Z and a 68 Roadster to be sold. Let's see what these two bring.
  16. Hi Wick, Do you know Carl Beck from Florida. He maintains a Z car registry at his site: http://zhome.com/ I looked but do not see your serial number listed. You might want to contact Carl as he knows a lot of the history of many early Z cars. He posts on this site. I to have a copy of your book and have referred to it many times. Thanks for taking the time to write that book. Good luck with your search!
  17. This is a great thread topic. I still have the original Warranty booklet from my 72 240Z that listed the original owner. I did some searching on the internet to try to contact the original owner and found out that unfortunately he passed away in early 90's. I tried to reach out to his family after discovering that but I never received a response from them.
  18. I am looking to buy a set of powder coated front cross members and lower rear control arms. The seller claims they are from a 1971 240Z. Will these fit on a 1972 Z? Thanks for your help.

Steve, Thanks for posting all the pictures. Looks like some real nice cars came to Savanna this year.
  20. Guy, The car looks awesome. Good luck at ZCON. I hope you win a award for that car.
  21. Guy, where did you find a new fan and fan clutch if you do not mind me asking:) The engine looks awesome also.
  22. Hi Brandon, Thanks for posting all these great pictures. I have downloaded them to use as I put my car back together. You and your father are doing a phenomenal job on this car. Questions, what did your Dad end up using on the brake and fuel lines? They look great. Is that a new fan or did he clean the original one? Marc
  23. Bryan, I feel your pain. My car has been at the body shop since last November. I too was hoping to bring the car to Savanna next month. I have given up on that plan!. I am fortunate in that my body shop allows me to do some of the grunt work in their shop so that I can save on the hours of labor their men spend working on the car. While that sound like a great deal, the problem is they only come in for three or four hours on a Saturday morning to work on their own hot rods so that is the only time I have to work on my car unless I take a vacation day during the week. You did not mention if they are giving you a break on the price since your car is a filler project like mine when they don't have collision work. They have my car on a time card and only charge me for the hours they spend working on my car or the paint and supplies they buy for my car. They have not gotten any new collision work over the last week or so and they finally finished another 64 Plymouth project car so they have been working on mine steady for the last week. It is amazing how much they can get done when two or three guys work on it at the same time. I have been showing up every morning since they have been working on it and I have been paying them in cash every Friday for the work they have done each week. I agree with EScanlon, see if they will agree to a fixed price to complete your car within a certain time frame. Offer them a bonus if the complete it ahead of schedule and get them to agree with deductions if it goes past the agreed to finish date. Either way good luck, you are not alone!

Phil looks good. Did the wheel arch covers come as separate pieces or is it all one piece?
  25. mgmoreau replied to pjoe's post in a topic in Interior
The later series II 240Z's have metal springs on the bottom. You would have to find a 280Z frame and compare it side by side with a 240Z frame
