  1. Hi AW, I just installed a rebuilt steering rack from carsteering.com and was very satisfied. They shipped it out quick and provided the return label for the core. I received the credit for the core within 10 days of shipping it back to them. I was given the name of this site from the president of our local Z club. He has used them and he races his Gnose Z and was very happy with their rack. The rack does include the two inner tie rods. I would highly recommend them.

It a shame this car was modified so much. I think that will really reduce the value despite this being a low VIN car,

Great idea Brian, I had never thought of that. It beats peeling tape off of things.

Here are Carl cars. The Baja car was featured at Amelia Island last year. Pete Brock was on hand to participate in the event.

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of visiting with Carl and Jim I got to see both Carl's and Jim's collections. They were spectacular. The only thing Jim asked me to do was to upload some of the pictures I had taken of his garage to this thread Clive started last year. As others that know Jim and Carl will agree, they are both awesome people, very down to earth, humble, and generous with sharing their time, expertise, and knowledge of the Z cars with anyone who shares their passion for these cars. So as promised, I will upload these pictures. As I look at them I realize I was in such awe while touring Jim's Z Mecca Garage, that I did not take enough pictures of his collection. Oh well sounds like a good excuse to make a pilgrimage back to Z Mecca :).

I think the 370Z is a step in the right direction after the 350Z. In my opinion the design does not try to copy or bring back the looks of a 240Z . It does come closer to the original hallmarks of the 240Z which is a small, well handling sports car that offers a great value for the money compared to other two seat sports cars on the market. I would like to see Nissan strive to keep an entry level Z priced under $30K. Its nice to have all the latest technology but those options really drive the price of the car up.

Hi Thor, Your enthusiasm for the early Z's and your willingness to reach out to all Z owners from around the globe is a testament to the global appeal of our Z cars. I was fortunate to have been able to have a conversation with you and Max at the ZCON. I enjoyed our talk tremendously. You certainly picked the right convention to travel to the US to attend. I agree with Mike B that it will be very difficult to repeat the experience we had in Nashville until maybe 2020 for the 50th Anniverssary of the Z car .
  15. Try to stay as true to original as possible. The car's value will appreciate much more if you keep it fairly stock and unmolested. Making a lot of modifications to the car will reduce its value if you plan to hold on to the car for a long time. Just my two cents worh.
  16. Hey Jerry, I will be arriving in Nashville Wednesday afternoon. Are you staying over night Wednesday? I would like to meet you. Thanks, Marc

Steve, I look forward to meeting you at the Convention and seeing the beautiful car you are killing yourself to finish in time for Nashville. Look for me in a white 72 240z with red side stripes and Rhode Island plates. 1100 miles to Nashville from RI, I hope the ol girl has it in her to get me there without any problems.
  18. I received the Moog ball joints and have installed them. They look identical to the OEM ball joints I replaced. Bought them from Rock Auto.com Very satisfied with these parts.
  19. Chris, Great stuff. I am really looking forward to this convention. This will be my first convention and it sounds like one you do not want to miss. See you there!
  20. Indri, Welcome to the club. As you spend more time on this board you will grow to really appreciate some of the expertise of the folks that frequent this site. I have learned a lot since I have joined this site. It has also helped me network with some of the top Z collectors in the country. The guys on this site tend to be more geared toward keeping our Z's mostly original. As another post said, the Hybrid Z site is geared to anyone that wants to heavily modify their Z's such as dropping a Chevy big block V8 or Vette engine. My brother in-law has an 84 RX7 GSL. He loves that car.
  21. Russ I have never had to place a claim with Hagerty for my 72Z, but the body shop that does all my paint work said that they are one of the best to deal with when you need your classic repaired. This shop does a lot of custom hot rods and they insure their own cars with Hagerty. He said some times Hagerty does not even send out an appraiser to check on a car, they just issued the check since it is agreed to coverage.
  22. Hi Marty, Can you give me the Moog part number? I am trying to order them today. Thanks, Marc
  23. Hey Nigel, Thanks for posting this picture. Did anyone notice that the Moog part number is very close to the Nissan OEM number 4016-A8600!! There is a good chance that Moog uses the same manufacturer that Nissan does. I am going to give it a shot. I was quoted $101.00 for the Nissan ball joints yesterday from Conyers Nissan in GA. Their site is down but check out Nissanpartsnow.com. It should be up in a few days. They give better discounts than Courtesey.

Hi Chris, The seat covers Les sells are made by Distinctive Industries 2930 South Vale Street, City of Commerce CA, 90040. I bought a set from Banzai Motorworks in MD and he uses the same supplier. I tried to contact Distinctive before ordering the seat covers from Banzai and they did not answer my emails. The do not take direct orders. You need to buy them from someone like Les or Mike McGinnis at Banzai. This manufacturer is the same company that Nissan commissioned in 1997 to make the seat covers for the Vintage Z's that Nissan restored. I am extremely pleased with the covers and they were well worth the money. The grain on the vinyl looks like the original factory vinyl. These covers are worth the price in my opinion. Also it would be wise to buy new foam when you replace the covers. This will ensure a tight fit with the new covers. Good luck.

I certainly qualify as an old bastard because I remember watching this show many nights around the big 25" black and white Magnavox console TV in the living room! The only thing I don't remember was there being so many Datsun's behind those stylish curtains. Damn I'm not getting any younger......... but driving my Z sure makes me feel younger!
