  2. Be VERY cautious of Craigslist. I have had 2 attempted scams on me in the last 2 weeks. If you can't talk to the person directly, NEVER send them any money. If they talk about using an escrow service for both of your "protection" it is probably a scam. Leave it to the scumbags to ruin an otherwise useful tool. Marty
  3. Re-using your throwout bearing should be fine. As Steve has confirmed, you need to use the ZX "COLLAR" to press the bearing onto. One of the collars is shorter than the other (can't remember right now). Your best bet is to use the collar and fork that came with the ZX tranny. Marty
  4. Which throwout bearing collar did you use? You need to use the one that came with the ZX tranny as it is different than the 240. Marty
  5. It doesn't matter what brand M/C you use, they both have to meet the OEM specs. (i.e.; brake line thred size).
  6. Yes they are different. The "S" in SB7100S stands for "short". I can't really remember why that one is supposed to be shorter. While you are ordering, buy the collector bag they offer and a tube of sealant. You'll be glad you did. Marty
  7. I was able to find the packages from the slave and master cylinders. I was pretty sure I kept them for occassions like this. Both use the same bleeder: P/N SB7100S M7x1.0 Marty
  8. Jim, I agree with you on SEM. In fact after a couple of years, I gave up looking and used SEM on an NOS black panel. The auto paint supply store matched the color almost perfectly. You could probably not tell the difference from the passenger side NOS blue panel that I was lucky enough to find. But there is nothing like a true NOS panel. The SEM has held up great for several years now. Marty

  10. One of the members who works for Nissan checked on colored panels. No luck there, only black are available in very limited quantities. If they were available in blue, I would be all over that. I have been looking for an NOS blue driver's door panel since 1998! Marty

  13. Hi Greg, I will be looking for some replacement track tires this year. I may be interested if you think they would be suitable for my car. I have an early '71 240Z, that I use for track days such as NASA's HPDE Program. It is equiped with Tokico Illumina's, MSA performance springs, 1" sway bar front, 7/8" rear bar. Toyota 4x4 brake upgrade. Right now I am using Hankook Z211's size 225/50/15. They are mounted on 15x7 rims. Was considering going with Toyo RA1's or R-888's. Are the Goodyear's size 225/45 also? So, what's a nominal price? Funny, I was just reading about "take offs" in Grass Roots Motorsports, and it sounded like an interesting idea. Especially with today's economy.   14. Thanks, it was hard to tell from the video. If I had to give up my Z and get a newer track car, I would love to get a Lotus Elise. The power to weight ratio is outstanding. Plus the low weight keeps the cost of tires and brakes down too, just like the Z. Marty

  16. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just thought I would throw in my experience for reference. I have had them on my show car for about 8 years. Have had no issues whatsoever. It is very true that you don't want to hamfist them as they WILL break. I have had them on my race car for about 4 years. Again, no issues. If you do alot of bleeding, I recommend getting the tube of sealant to re-caulk the threads occasionally. I also recommend the optional clear fluid collection bag. I bought a 10' section of tight fitting clear tubing and connect it to the collection bag. I can attach it to any corner of the car and watch the fluid flow into the bag, right from the driver's seat. You can easily see when the bubbles stop. This set-up has worked great for me. I have also put them on all of the other bleeders on the car: master cylinder, and clutch slave. To each his own, but I like them alot. Marty
  17. I can vouch for the spindle pullers. I have done this job twice and I would NEVER attempt it without one. I averaged about 10 minute per pin as apposed to hours I have heard it takes without a puller. Another neat trick I learned to stay away from the toxic fumes of burning the bushings out, is to take your electric dill and drill a million holes through the rubber part and then when its loose, pull out the rubber with pliers. I think its faster than burning too. Once its out you either clean out the rubber and leave the outer bushing collar if you are using PU bushings, or if you are going stock rubber, you need to carefully cut the collar with a hack saw and ply it out. I'll agree that this is not a fun job, but with a puller and patience it is totally doable. You might as well clean and paint everything while you have it appart. Good luck. Marty

  19. I just called Avenue Nissan at the number five & dime posted. They confirmed that that Vancouver warehouse had H0901-N3300 for $184.48 and Toronto had H0900-E4100 for $192.90. Unfortunately for me, they would not take an order over the phone for shipment to the U.S. They said you had to pay in person. Marty

  21. Choke/throttle control? It will make your engine race, just not necessarily faster. Marty
  22. I don't know. He was the first one that popped into my head when I saw it. I was going to add it to the throttle control knob thread, but I could not find it. I figured it could get more general exposure this way too. Hell, if we can get donations to buy a new server, maybe we should all chip in and buy one of these. And the best part is it is made in the USA, so we would be supporting our economy too. That 3-D "printer" is incredible. It even replicates moving parts. Marty
