  1. We need a PAY IT FORWARD thread. With tough economic times and the Holidays fast approaching, a lot of people could use a break or a hand out. How does it work? Really simple...Clean out your garage with a part that you thought about selling, but considering its relative worth it's just better to simply offer a "freebie" to someone that could really use the component. The basic rules are as follows: 1. You're offering the item for free. 2. Recipient should be willing to pay for shipping, but the offering party can volunteer to cover that if they choose. 3. Recipient pledges to "Pay it forward" at some point in the future with another item for another Classic Z-Car enthusiast. 4. Don't abuse the privilege. Only take something if you really will use it (No Parts Hoarding!!) It's an honor system. 5. Services may also be offered up...indicate City, State. In the end, we help each other out and feel good at the same time. Let's see how well this goes. We will collectively get out of it what we put into it. I will get this started on the right foot. I'm offering up the following parts just for the cost of shipping. - 240Z Driver's door mirror. Good driver quality, with gasket and nuts. GONE - Pair door handles. Few pits and scratches, but work well. GONE - '70 - '71 Ash tray. Cleanly cracked in half, easily glued. Gret if your driver doesn't have one. -GONE. - Hand Brake cover. A couple of tiny cuts but very good overall condition. GONE - '70-71 Shifter to tunnel grommet. New!! - Pair spindle pins. Removed with a puller. Thread are good, only needs minor clean up. GONE. - Disk Brake pads - Set of stock Beck Arnley front brake pads. Looks like they were used for a couple hundred miles. Lots of life left in them. - Stock coils. They would work fine on a driver. - '83 fan and fan clutch. clutch feels good. - '83 thermastat housing - '83 Pulley - '70 Water Pump pulley cover. Great core to send in for re-plating. - '70-71 Fan clutch. Not pretty but worked well when removed. - Left side headlight cover. Good condition, with gasket. - $ Energy Suspension bump stops. - New!! - '70 - 71 Tool covers. A couple of cracks, but very serviceable for a driver that has them missing. Have at it!! Marty
  2. I have also removed those by placing a block of wood against them and lightly tapping them from side to side. Marty
  3. I am really enjoying seeing a yellow car (like my track car) get a new paint job. It looks like it is coming out great! Is it getting single stage paint or a color and clear? Looks really nice whatever it is. Marty
  4. So, how much do you charge to clean and re-dye a full 240Z Carpet set? Marty
  5. Hi Dave, So is this a definite "go" on this project? I sent Roostmonkey some money, but I get no response from him. If I can get my money back, I would but one from you. It will be the exact same design, right? Marty
  6. Wow, what a great event Bill!!! I wish I could have been there. It's an amazing collection of Z machinery. The other cars are pretty nice too. Looks like a lot of fun. thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Marty
  7. Darrel, Thanks, that helps a lot. You know what they say about a picture is worth a thousand words. It looks like he is using a different mount than the snubber or the GM Mount. I'll have to contact this guy to see if he has any available. It will make a nice little winter project, since the car is going into hibernation soon. Marty
  8. I see it now. Using the snubber in place of the GM mount makes sense. Was there a reason that you didn't like the GM mount? I noticed that the RT Mount has a vertical reinforcement on it. Does that go toward the front or the rear? Marty
  9. Darrel, Maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet, but I am having a hard time picturing where the snubber over the top goes. Or are you using the snubber instead of the GM trans mount? Do you have any pictures of this installed. Thanks, Marty
  10. I had this happen a long time ago. Try this. Turn the key so that it cranks and starts, but don't let the key return all the way. If it stays running, it is the ballast resistor. Good luck, Marty
  11. I put a Jasper remanufactured L28 engine in my yellow car for about $2,200 about 3 years ago. It came with a 75K or 3 year warranty and they delivered it to my door. I have been pretty happy with it. Check it out here: http://www.jasperengines.com/index.php Marty
  12. Well, this part was harder to get than I thought it would be. The only ones in stock were made in China, as low as $12.99 (no thanks!) or an American made Wagner (better, but I wanted Nabco or Tokicko). The guy at Carquest was really helpful. He helped me track down the correct Nabco part from their "OEM Replacemnt Part Line", P/N WPCI30134638NAB. There were 2 Nabco listings and we could not tell which one was correct, so he order both in from NY and didn't even charge me shipping. I am assuming the other one is for the turbo. The part is an exact replacement and at $39.70, a lot better price than the dealer. The part came in a box labeled "Rocky Hydraulic Brake and Clutch Parts". Reboxed just like Arne said. It also had another computer generated label on it that contained the Nissan P/N 30620-U7001. I am pretty happy with Carquest's OEM Replacement Line. A few months ago I replaced a ball joint and it also came reboxed in the Nissan supplier markings embossed on it, at significantly better pricing. Later, Marty
  13. I need a new clutch slave cylinder for my '83 5spd. Nisan wants $77.81 for one. Parts stores are all over the board and as low as $19.74. Is this one of those parts that you should only accept a Nissan part? I don't mind paying for a quality part but Nissan seems a little ridiculous on this part. Let me know your recent experieinces. Thanks, Marty
  14. That's the beauty of having two! You can drive one while you are working on the other. Nice job! Marty
  15. Nice job! What did you guys do to finish the valve cover like that? I am wondering what the best way is to restore to stock standards. Thanks, Marty
  16. Was it Bruce Palmer from Z Therapy? Or possibly Z Specialties in WA?
  17. Man, I need this dog leg treatment on my car! I need to find clean dog legs for both sides. Where did you find yours? Marty
  18. Grab the top of the tire and rock it in and out. If the bearings are loose you will feel it, and it may even clunk. Marty
  19. If the battery tray area isn't rusted, I am sure several people here could use it. Same goes for just about any metal part. Myself, I need the dog leg pieces behind both doors if they are rust free. If they are, shoot me a price. Marty
  20. I ran mine with the BR and it ended up frying anyway, ! I tried them on both my cars. The first lasted probably 6-7 years before frying. The second one only lasted about 2 years. I gave up on them and switched to a rebulit ZX dizzy and have had no trouble since. Marty
  21. Re-read the Pertronix install instructions. It's been a long time since I installed on, but I believe is states that you still use the ballast resistor. Marty
  22. Thanks for the good info guys. I should have mentioned that the car also has a 4.11 R180 diff. It is good to hear that you can get a significant performance improvement without the need to go with tripple carbs. Marty
  23. I have been considering putting a hotter cam into my track day car for a while now. It has an '83 L28, bored 40 over, running the stock SU's and a header. The motor only has around 2,000 miles on it and I have been waiting for the warranty to expire (next May I think) before doing any modifications. Will changing the cam alone make that much difference? Or do you need to switch to tripple Mikuni's to really get the benefits? How tricky of a job is this? I have swapped out the entire drive train and suspension on my own, but I have never really done any work internal to the engine. Please provide the website or contact info for Delta. thanks, Marty
