  1. These are some shots taken of my '70 240Z during an October 2007 Photo Shoot by Motive Mag. They did a comparo with the 350Z. http://www.motivemag.com/pub/feature/verticals/Motive_Vertical_-_240Z_and_350Z.shtml

  5. I really don't know anything about 260Z's. If they have an electronic ignition, I don't know if it uses an optical sensor or not. The problem that I had with the Pertronix was that the ring around the magnets, that slips over the distributor post was dirty and interferring with the signal. You might want to thoroughly clean inside your distributor. If that does not solve your problem (I am guessing it won't) at least you will have a clean distributor. In the end, I went with a rebuilt ZX distibutor and I have been happy with it. Marty
  6. That's fantastic, nice job guys!!! Nice pictures too. Thanks for letting us know. Marty
  7. Thanks for thinking about me. Beandip actually located a steel fan and a steering wheel for me a while ago. I still need the parts that are installed under the horn though. If that long pigtailed fuse block is not melted down or broken, I might be interested in that. Send me a PM if you want to sell it. Thanks, Marty
  8. I didn't notice that it was in Lemont before. I live about 40 minutes from there. If someone was REALLY serious about wanting this car, I could go look at it for you. Although it is a nice looking car, that is a ridiculous price for a 260Z. Marty
  9. Thanks for the kind words. The blue interior is very 1970's Japanese, but I really like it. You don't see too many of them out there. I noticed one from the National Conversion that looked like a blue on blue car, but I only saw shots from the outside. I was hoping someone would have taken some interior and under hood shots of that one. Marty
  10. Hi Guys, Thought you might want to check this out. I got a call a couple of weeks ago from Motive Magazine. They are an on-line mag that is trying to compete with Car & Driver and Road and Track On-Line. Been around since August, so they are still really new. Anyway, they wanted to do a comparison article (they call them "Verticals"), on an original 240Z, versus a new 350Z. They came out on Sunday and did a photo shoot with the cars. It was a lot of fun. Here is a link to the article: http://www.motivemag.com/pub/feature/verticals/Motive_Vertical_-_240Z_and_350Z.shtml I can't take any credit for the content of the article. I just supplied the car. Marty
  11. Do your self a BIG favor and get some sort of shield between those Webers and the exhaust. I had Webers on my first 240Z. They middle one leaked gas on the header and burned up the whole car. I would never have them on one of my cars again, but others like them. Marty
  12. Is that a Subaru LSD ? Did you have to change the out put flanges on the sides? If so, how difficult was that? any other mods that you needed to do. Thanks, Marty
  13. Actually there is an early '71 and a late '71. The early '71 has the 240Z emblem and the late has the circle Z at the vent hole. The early '71 has the vents in the hatch instead. Marty
  14. I got mine from an EBay listing by ZBarn. They had several listed a while back. You might want to try them direct. Marty
  15. When it died, did you check to see if you were getting gas? Spark? What kind of fuel regulator are you using? IF it's the type with a movable dial on the top, I have heard they can sometimes stick. Move the dial min to max a couple of times. Also 7 PSI is way too high for carbs. You only need about 3 PSI, and never more than 5 PSI. Sounds like the carbs need adjusting too. You want to see a nice tan color on the plugs. Just some thoughts. Marty
  16. I had a similar problem once. You could turn the key to start and it would start fine. As soon as you let go of the key once it started, it would immediately die. If you started the car and did not let the key go all the way back to the run position, it would stay running. I replaced the ballast resistor and it was fine after that. Try holding the key just off the run position and see if it keeps running. If it does, I would replacet the resistor. Marty
  17. Yep, good idea. That is a steel cable that is threaded through the frame and then looped through the center of the wheels to lock it on. I can also loop it around the spokes a couple of times to take up the slack.
  18. The chair, my helmet and my luggage are the only things that I have to haul in the car.
  19. I checked the u-joints and bolts. Everything feels tight with no play at all. No metal in the oil either. Keep the ideas coming. Marty
  20. I bought their SCCA approved roll bar. It does have a harness bar that goes behind the seat and is welded to the diagonal bar. The street version doesn't have a harness bar. I believe it is made by AutoPower. The quality is good and I am pretty happy with it. Marty
  21. Just big enough to hold tires and tools. Pretty much all I need, and it doesn't weigh much at all. I am guessing about 500 lbs trailer and cargo.
  22. It pulls like a dream behind the Z.
  23. Here's my little spring project I built tocarry track tires and tools. I got it at Harbor Freight Tools.
  24. I saw that one a while ago. If a lot costs $675K, I would hate to see what the houses cost, ! I would bet there will be a bounch of Ferrari's, Lambo's and Porches' driven by peope that don't know how to drive them. One of our local car dealer's held a track day at the Autobahn. http://www.autobahncountryclub.net/ I got invited through the Windy City Z Club. They own a Nissan dealership, as well as about 8-9 others, including one that sells Ferrai's, Lambo's and other exotics. My yellow 240Z was the only Z Car that showed up and was by far the cheapest car there. The people were friendly and a lot of them came by to see and talk about the Z. The guy with the 911 came with his own 2 man pit crew. The mechanics were pretty impressed with the old Z and gave it many compliments. Most of the guys there had more money than talent. The owner's son showed up with full race Ferrari and a Lotus. Clearly, he knew what to do with them. It was a real blast passing Ferrari's and Porche's. Funny, I never got invited back, !!! Marty
