  1. Mike, I agree with Bryan Pilati, that we should go back and look at the roots of the club. It was started because people who had 240Z's got tired of wading through all of the later generation Z stuff on the "Big List", in order to get help. I think the charter that you set up is still appropriate. We are a 240Z club. People who own 260's and 280's are welcome here to discuss characteristics or problems with their cars that are common to the 240Z. By shear production numbers, there are more 260 and 280's out there. I would hate to see the discussions turn into all talk about them and the 240Z discussions get pushed into the back ground. As many have said, there are other places that already exsist to help out the later cars. I love the look and feel of this club. It is a close knit group of 240Z nuts that enjoy talking about this great car. Let's not lose our focus! Stay the "Internet 240Z Club". Best Regards, Marty Rogan

  3. Recently I had the driver's side headlight go dim on me. The fuse was fine. I was about to start tearing into the wiring when one of our wise members suggested checking the fuse holder. I bent the wire on the fuse holder to make a tighter fit and it worked perfect! Start with the easy stuff first. Good luck! Marty
  4. I would like to see pictures of that. Stuffed must be the operative word!!! That thing must be brutally fast. If he has not significantly stiffened up the car though, he will probably shake or twist it apart. Marty

  6. Kyle, I have been looking for an NOS drivers side interior door panel in BLUE for 4 years. I would be willing to pay up to $200 for one if you can locate it. Also would be interested in NOS BLUE seat covers for a reasable price, arougn $250? I have 1970 240Z Thanks, Marty Rogan
  7. I like the old one better, since you can see other people's questions and the replies. It can prevent a bunch of people from asking the same question. Even if I am not interested inthe item, it helps me keep a feel for the Z market. Marty

  10. Gene, I live in Chicago and might be able to help you check out a car that is local here. Do you live in Chicago too? Also, I would highly recommend having a good Z shop check it out.   11. The Indy Z Car Club is sponsoring its 3rd Annual Z Heritage Show at the Indianapolis Intl Speedway. Events scheduled Aug. 16 & 17. The 350Z will also make its Midwest Debut at this event. Nissan has promised us at least one car to get upclose and personal with. We are working on bringing in some Nissan Motorsport Drivers ( retired) as well as officials from Nissan North America. Should be fun spread the word!!! Just like last year the entry fee is still $20.New this year is the club trophy. This will be a traveling trophy awarded to the club that accumulates the most points. Points will be awarded for number of cars attending, number of cars in the show and points for number of winners in the judging. The Club will get a plaque to keep. Bigger and better that is this years 3rd annual Midwest Heritage Z Car Show. Schedule below. I know that I plan to be there.   12. I was just talking with a guy yesterday about rebuilding carbs. He is a member of the Z Club of Texas. I have had him do a considerable amount of re-plating of parts on my 1970. Any way he said he does similar work as Z Therapy in rebuilding the carbs. Polished, replated, etc., only he rebushes them with teflon bushings instead of roller bearings. He charges $450.00 for the set. Takes him 15 hours to rebuild 1 set. It turns out that he re-did the carbs on the car used by the Franklin mint to make the 240Z model. Personally, I have not seen a set of his rebuilt carbs. His plating is very good, and with the correct greenish zinc tint. It would be worth checking out.   13. KMack is right. For $8,900 I would not expect to find any rust, anywhere. There are plenty of 240's out there for sale, at a lot cheaper prices. At that price, I would expect it to have new paint, interior and extensive restoration. Check out this website: http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/adsearchprocess.html It has 76 cars for sale right now. Fly in to no rust zone and drive one home. It will still be cheaper inthe long run and a cool memory that will last a lifetime! Take your time and be picky. You will thank yourself later. Good luck. Marty
  14. SirJester, You can put in a later 4 or 5 spd. The problem is the hole where the shifter comes through the tunnel is located dirfferently on the A type trans that came in a 70. Youwill have to cut out some of the tunnel, and I think trim some of the console too. That is what keeps me from putting a 5spd in my 70. It boils down to how original do you want to keep your car. The website that was mentioned has a lot of good info. Check it out. Marty
  15. Paul, I did see the pix of the outside of the trunk. It looks great. I was wondering what the inside of the trunk looked like. Did you finish the interior? Does it have much useable space? Marty
  16. I always use Min-wax stain. Have had very good luck with it. The staining part was easy. Getting the clear coat to go on smooth and even was another story. Marty
  17. I just finished restoring my wheel a couple of weeks ago. Satin black is correct for the center. Although the rim is some sort of composite plastic, it does take stain very well. I re-stained mine with red mahogony stain and it turned out beatiful. I also red-did the shift knob in matching stain, which turne out good too. Except the plastic on top got ruined by the stripping fluid or something. so if you do that, make sure you mask it really well. Go for it, it will really enhance the look of the interior. Marty
  18. Paul, That's a real beauty!!! Did you do the body work yourself? I would be interested in seeing some pix of the interior and the trunk too. Does it have a soft top? That would be interesting to see also. Are those aftermarket seats, or transplants from a different make of car? Nice work! Marty
  19. Silver Z, I have had the same problem. I have changed vacuum hoses, Z Therapy carbs, checked the timing. Still have the problem. If you figure it out, let me know what the problem was. Thanks, Marty
  20. Hey Dhayes, I see from your tag line that you are running PU bushings with Tokicko shocks. Are those the non-adjustables? What springs are you using? How is the ride quality? I am thinking about going to PU's, but I am concerned withmaking the ride harsh. I have the Tokicko non-adj and am thinking about going with the Stage 1 Euro Springs. Thanks, Marty
  21. $4800 for a 34K car! IF the condition is what the mileage would suggest, thhe car should have been like new. That would have been a hell of a deal! I saw one 36K car recently selling for $13K. I don't really thing anyone into Z's would really pay that, but, they say a sucker is born every minute. Enjoy the hunt. Marty
  22. Looks like you are in Michigan and this car is in Texas. this would suggest that you are willing to travel to get a car. That's the right attitude!! I found mine 3 1/2 years ago by looking on this website: http://www.collectorcartraderonline.com/ It was a '70, with 69K original miles, no rust, with a very nice new paint job, but needed some interior work for $4,800. Keep looking and take your time. Wait for a truly great car at a reasonable price. They are out there! This web site has 82 240Z's listed right now. Happy hunting! Marty

  25. Grantman, Just remember, you don't have to take the first offer that the Insurance Co. gives you. It is their job to pay you the least amount possible. If they low ball you, you can negotiate. When my Z burned up, they offered me $1,900, which was the blue book value back then. After 7 yrs of restoration, I had about $10K into the car, and I had pictures and loads of receipts to prove it. Show them ads in Hemmnings for comparable cars. In my case, I ended up with $6,900, which I figured would have been the most I could have gotten by trying to sell the car. Just be firm, but nice. If they think you are just a jerk trying to get rich from the accident, they won't want to help you. Good luck! Marty
