  1. For US$100,000 you can get a totally hand-built (exact) replica of a 250 GTO with the birdcage frame, aluminum body, V12, etc. That is definitely a replia (but kind of nice) with a V8 engine. You can get a turnkey replica weith Z chsasis, L24/L26/L28 engine for $30,000 DELIVERED. $50,000 TOPS, if you are filty rich, AND on the same drugs the seller uses. BUT, this is "America" where you buy low, sell high.
  2. The Z wall is gone..... Any alternatives? I was based in Tampa, FL. Maybe Vicky or Chris have some contacts just to get the pages of the Z wall forsomebody else to host? I think it was just a giant photo. thx
  3. Thanks Nate, good one. The tabular data & graphics were cool. Too bad I couldn't save it all on my hare drive. Maybe I'll come up with something later. thx
  4. Good idea- It would be nice to have a chart of tire sizes v. circumference, so you could pick a tire that's not going to throw off your speedometer much. Either that or a formula to calculate circumference. thx
  5. No offense to Enrique, but I think he'd make a good politician (j/k Enrique) I agree that the mechanism looks to be complicated, and I've been working about it for a LONG time with little success, which is why I think it would be a good idea at this time to hand the idea off to the people that are better at it.
  6. Could the #89 bulbs be higher wattage than the newer #97?
  7. Darn, the whole bravenet site is GONE. I ws going to look into that module to see if I can figure out the code for it...
  8. If you are interested, here is a link to a discussion on the hi-perf L28 emgine, including cylinder heads. http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html
  9. Make sure that the little arm isn't loose on the lock barrel. Maybe you can pull off the retaining clip from the lock, then take it off to clean & fix. Check that the screw threads are well-fitting. Then maybe a new screw to hold the arm on, with a little thread-locker. Then just check the alignment of everything & adjust as necessary. I replaced my lock totally with one from an MGA, which has a fingerpull on it. Looks euro-cool. If you have to push hard to close the hatch, does that mean the rubber seal is flat? Maybe a fresh seal is in order for you.
  10. Congratulations! And in winter, too What wasn't working? thx
  11. No...... JZM was saying that the ecu eliminates the ballast resistor, and controls the power to the coil electronically.
  12. Right. In fact, some high output coils are NOT recommended for use with electronic ignition. See VB and MSA catalogs.
  13. That's cool, Steven. Do you have any links for that? It'll take a while to digest, and better yet, some diagrams for the 280Z would be good. I noticed an empty plug on my coil that I can't identify.
  14. You started talking about the resistor in your last post, then started talking about the coil. The 240Zs, and most 260Zs had points ignition, so it applies there. Since there's no ballast resistor in the 280Z with apoints-less distributor, the coil is very important, and I posted a relevant link about that.
  15. zgarage.com has a good article about the coils to use, and tells you how to pick the right one- not the 'high-voltage' one you'd use on points ignition. You're actually looking for one with the right resistance. http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html
  16. My experiences with Hondas are of the kind that they suck, and My Ford has been perfect since day one. That's a subject for another forum. Go start one there iof you will. It appears that you should change your username to reflect that you are an expert on cognitive processes. thx
  17. It's not a FAKE shifter. No idea is lame unless you give up in it, or don't develop it. Give non-sarcastic, constructive input. What features would you want? You are assuming the company is SO GREEDY that they won't do anything that won't profit them millions a day. WRONG! This is the U.S.A., where companies give millions, altogether, to give to people in ravaged third-world countries. Just for the feel-good purpose! Then they write it off. Where would we be if the Wrght brothers gave up on the airplane, just because EVERYBODY--- EVERYBODY ---- EVERYBODY --- EVERYBODY told them it would NEVER WORK! thx
  18. 1. I hate spinner hubcaps. they give me a headache. 2. I won't ever be buying a Honda. Unless Ford buys them too. 3. I don't remember saying that I'm leaving my console with the rough edges. Dude, before you go making irrelevant remarks, you should ASK and get clarification as to what the purpose of the object is. Presumptions on YOUR part make you look foolish. A LOT of that going on here with people just blurting out irrelevant remarks like "Nobody makes one" when the point was to get somebody to MAKE ONE. I've been working on this idea for years. I thought there might be somebody with connections, or an engineer who could figure it out. It looks like all we have here is "experts." Very few, if any, constructive options were given. Apparently, all you guys understand here are 1-word phrases, like P30, or N42. thx
  19. We should get B&M to make a period-looking automatic transmission shifter to use on the S30 cars. I prefer one with the horizontal H-gate.
  20. I wouldn't want to do that. I think the transmission shifts just fine as is.
  21. Ooooohhh.... I'm getting a vision of that Solomons Island 240Z, with the rust everywhere......
  22. OK... That would explain why I don't see one. Can you explain why it's not there? Possibly because the distributor doesn't have points? thx
  23. I started with an S.O.S. pad to get the grease off which seemed to do half the job! Then some 280-grit for the corners where you can see 'stretch marks.' I don't think that was coarse enough, but I'll keep at it with the 280. Some good tips for polishing between the lettering would help- besides grinding the letters off thx
