  1. You might check over at the the Hybridz.com forums because that basically what they do there.
  2. All you get out of it then, is the 'same old song' every time.

    Crud

Now you can get your gf a 'rock' to put on the finger.
  4. I decided to stick with 'non-denominational' music. You could call it "Top-40 rock." I did some research into the most popular songs of the early mid-to late- 70s, picked out some songs that were related to cars, driving or such, then a few miscellaneous songs to fill the time up, Always keeping in mind that these songs need to keep the adrenaline going, suggest speed, seduction, or recklessnes (j/k!) and arranged them to keep your attention & adrenaline going. they sounded good to me when you play them loud, too! thx
  5. the songs I chose for my CD are all car-related, and most were from around 75-78. I tried to pick songs that would go well with the a peppy little engine, or the little white lane-lines wizzing by! thx
  6. I don't remember the TV show Stingray, or one with a big silver twin-engine plane. But, at least we have the same name! thx
  7. Yeah, we thrashed the music-idea around about a year ago. since then I have produced a two-CD set (90 minutes total). It's all 70s stuff. Sent Mike a set. He seems to like the stuff. Personal use only, of course. He suggests I look into a license to produce them for club people. I'm working on a third disk now, and maybe a fourth one day. I play cassette tapes, so I create CDs in 90- (or 2 x 45)- minute chunks. thx
  8. I just had a vision of a good-looking guy(like me?) driving around the country saving beautiful women who have broken-down cars (only TWO seats in a Zed, you know! The problem would be which car, with what engine, body mods & paint, etc., and who the cast would be. Sounds like just another doo-good car show, like Viper, Knight Rider, et al. I like the history/design stuff, but it wouldn't last long. You could also throw in some how-to & repair stuff. thx
  9. I couldn't tell it was a battery there on the left. I've been using a copper-based anti-sieze on things like those bolts. Not just because I worked on the formula, and in the lab it showed some interesting electrical properties. Copper anti-sieze worked miracles on exhaust manifiold bolts, even after a few years. Why not just clear-coat the boltheads? Also, it sound like you give DeOxIt thumbs up? thx
  10. AFAIK, my car has federal emmissions, but the BPT is the only thing that suggests california. There isn't even a catalytic converter, which the muffler guy pointed out. I determined that the BPT is some kind of a check valve because you can only suck air from one side. From what you say, I think it might allow air to pass through ( or back) slowly, which would allow the EGR diaphram to return to the normal position, otherwise the EGR would keep opening until the engine stalls, which is why I took it all off. thx
  11. Uh Oh.. I'm thinking now that my hoses are mixed up There was a check valve on one hose off the intake that's the size of quarter, anout 7-8mm thick, and it was hooked up to a dashpot. I'm going to read-up on the BPT valve and related stuff. Do you think the vacuum solenoids are involved, or is that just for the a/c stuff? I evennoticed there was even a vacuum-operated thing for the high-idle (it pulled on the throttle rod.) I totally disconnected & removed that. thx
  12. Where on the firewall is that first picture? Also, those bolts look rusty, did you treat them to a de-rusting? I'll put both of those spots on my list.
  13. I think the problem with my EGR is that I don't know if the thermocheck valve is working right, so I just assume the EGR is always closed. Isthere a section on EGR in the FSm I would assume that if the thermocheck valve was working right, it would open the EGR when the engine is warm & has enough vacuum ( like at higher RPM) and it would lean out the mixture with increased power & gas mileage. I'm starting to think that the vacuum solenoids are involved here, but I don't know how those get activated. I hope my FSM has some help on this. FYI, I reopenedthis topic at this time because it's winter here in Ohio, and you pretty much put the cars away until April & lock yourself indoors with a book(s). i.e., research season. thx E.G.R.,....F.S.M..... M.O.U.S.E........
  14. I believe that properly used, the EGR is part of the fix for an over-rich mixture. As a result, you will get a better mix at WOT and more power.
  15. You're right that you replace the lamps so seldom that it might not be worth all the custom work, but for a car that 25-30 yrs old, I first need to 1. take the lamps out to clean the connectors 2. then remove the lamps totally for body mods 3. replace the whole front clip with a glass one 4. remount the lights into the new fenders So why not put in new lamps while I'm at it? Some people like to fool with those kinds of things to give themselves work! Plus, eventually, the original-style lamps may become unavailable. thx
  16. Rick, I was referring to cars in the U.S. because the show is based in the U.S., and mostly American cars are sold. Just to make the American viewers take a note that this car has a unique place in "American" automobile history. The Corvette fans would probably be up in flames STRAIGHT AWAY! But, good on Yer... thx
  17. I've read about the 240SX AFM, but I didn't read anything about how well the wiring goes on. It's it a plug-in job, or do I have to splice a connector or something to hook it up to my 280Z? thx
  18. You couldn't just remove the light bowl from the back & screw it in from the front of the bucket, huh? It would probably need some trimming to fit, or replace it totally with something that does fit( a smaller unit with smaller lamp.) That would be too simple
  19. Well, I'm STILL having trouble finding the bullett connectors by the horns, and the wires for the switch. the other problem would be to decide what kind of switch to use, or is there a designated switch for fog lamps on the 280Z?
  20. I fooled with my egr last summer manually by sucking on the vac hose, and as expected, the diaphram movrf up & let fresh air ( formerly exhaust) in. when I quit sucking, the diapgram didn't return! Is that right? As far as I could tell, there was only the one nipple for vacuum, and there was no way for air to get in to let the diaphram back to close the air valve. I was thinking about drilling a very small hole to let air in, but I'm not sure if there's enough vacuum to move the diaphram then. I think it would really help if somebody had a graphic of the EGR circuit & hoses that makes sense. I think the thermal vac valve works- at least it only lets air go one way. thx
  21. Wow.... Looks like we have a real celebrity (sort of) from the old days here. Somebody who was actually there, and I mean NOT THE MOVIE!
  22. I'm wondering if anybody last a list or graphic/map of the ground connections on the car (280Z). Engine grounds ( alternator, injuectors, etc. front end (lights, horn) tail end (lights, fuel pump, gas gauge) Dash( lights) miss anything? While it's laid up & in the hangar, there's a lot of time for soaking & chasing- no driving until spring. Except it's cold.
  23. The basic problem is that the Z (or 280Z, which has e.f.i.) wasn't really a sports car. It was sold as a "luxury sporty-type car." So the engine wasn't designed to have that much power; it was even supposed to have GOOD gas mileage, which also means no horsepower.
  24. I'm SURE you'll be getting more (data/video/files, etc) just like me. I'm up to about 200 megs myself, and 1/2 of that is in photos & web pahes, I also have a 5 Mb database of indexed text stuff I've been collecting from everywhere. BTW, do you think you could zip & burn a copy for me, or could I d/l it myself? thx

    front speakers

Proxlamus- Here's a couple that might give you an idea of what I have. I cut the console off behind the switches on the front, and in front of the ashtray in the back. I might just leave the back part out totally, instead mounting a fire extinguisher. I'd be interested in a smaller handle, but so far the Dodge/Chrysler one is the best. no mods to the lever were made, and I just added the shifter boot myself with a custom frame around the bottom.
