  1. I think I've just been insulted...
  2. Nope... Better winters in Ohio. We actually get snow. Then in the Spring, it melts! hot summers, too. All 4 seasons. See if they get that in L.A.??
  3. Don't they do anything in Northern Ohio? I gotta drive hundreds of miles to get any fun.
  4. Rick--- Why don't you just vote again and add the one you need?
  5. I have a degree in analytical chemistry, but since I got disabled, I work for the Social Security Company. That and 3 part-time jobs might help me to get my GTO conversion done on the 280Z over the winter. That way, in the spring/summer, I might head down Tampa ways in the GTO to see my sweetie. Got that Vicky?
  6. How do you get on the list? thx
  7. I thought the Z had rubber channel stuff inside the door window frame? Mine got all hard and shrunk a little.
  8. Water would probably work, but would contaminate the lines. Then you have to dry them out before going back to gasoline.
  9. If you totally removed the cannister and plugged all the hoses, you would either have to vent the fuel tank (unscrew the cap) before getting in the car or add a solenoid valve (or a check valve?) to let the pressure out when the fuel pump is running. there HAS to be a better way than what it had.
  10. I looked at the hoses and where they go, and it looks like they all go the intake (i.e. vacuum). One goes to the dizzy for vacuum advance. Don't disconnect the vacuum line from the cannister without plugging it, or the engine will stall. I think you could just replace it with a smaller can to do the same job. I'd put that can where the vacuum bottle was.
  11. Thanks for the info. I bet it's only a bit of the whole thing, but it gives help. It'll take some practice to get good at understanding it all as fast as you hear it.
  12. Is there a website that explains all the lingo used in pace notes for rallying? It would be nice to understand what those guys are saying (in english). I don't speak finnish, french, etc., so I'm not iunterested in that. thx
  13. I had the same problem with my little S-hose for the heater! Mine even hads a flush tee from the PO. I had the radiator shop fix that straight away. Just about everything made of rubber or plastic that's exposed to t he elements is dried/cracked/etc.
  14. I got the one by Wick Humble. What do you mean by "Doing up a Zed?" Restore? Customize? Modify/race? thx
  15. Have you considered using the new L.E.D. bulb substitutes? Much less current needed, and I think they are supposed to be brighter.
  16. I'm working on my Z-songs CD, and I"m stuck on a song artist: "Lay With Me" I think it's Alice Cooper, or some other ROCK group, not Tanya Tucker, or Johnny Cash. Approx. year would help too. thx :rambo:
  17. I've taken a few things off already, like the EGR valve stuff & the dashpot. Anything with wires or a vacuum line going to the intake gets a closer look. Just remember NOT to unbolt the ground wire for the injectors!! (bolted to intake). :stupid:
  18. So why don't they decipher the VIN enough to tell you to call them on the phone? There must be a way to decode VINs to the point where you can tell about how old the vehicle is. They make such a big deal on TV commercials about getting an online quote. I've even been watching for the fine print that tells you to call them if you have an older car.
  19. I recently tried to get a rate quote online with both Progressive and Geico insurance companies, but neither would give a quote. Progressive doesn't insure cars made before 1981, and Geico requires a 17-digit VIN (same thing). So I'm staying with my current auto insurance provider.
  20. Black?? I was thinking of using some polyurethane clear. or even some of that eyelasses scratch fixer stuff. thx, mate
  21. Black?? I was thinking of using some polyurethane clear. or even some of that eyelasses scratch fixer stuff.
  22. You can't see anything from the outside. Only when you look from the inside with the sun low. Glare is also a problem with the sun low.
  23. When the sun hits the windshield at a low angle, it looks like my car was driven through storms of rocks & sand, with all the tiny little pits & small scratches. Is there a way to repair the glass so it's nice & clear again? thxe
