Even a clamp-on silencer would have made a huge difference straight away. I noticed the D-type Jaguars on the B-J "Car Search" show used a (dual system) with dual silencers that look like a dual tip from the rear.

It looks like the winner is Vanishing Point! I don't remember the part of the naked lady on the motorbike, but I remember the motorbike, hitchhiker(s), and at the end the guy was so doped up on pills and depressed/worn out, he just crashed into the roadblock. I'll put it on my list... thx.

Ther was a taillight wiring harness that I was bidding on ther other day for $10, andthe winner sniped me at the last second for $50! Well, if the guy want to pay THAT much extra... I will go back to my original plan with the rusty connectors.

"Black Moon Rising" was also cool. Cool car. the story wasn't so great- like a preview of 'Knight Rider.'

I dunno about that movie. The one I remembered was from the 60s or 70's. This guy wakes up one morning, gets in his car and ( I think it was a cuda- could've something else) just drives across the dessert to CA. Couldn't figure out why. Don't rember if he had a pregnant wife. On the way he meets various people. I think there was a short chase, with the guy and some local yahoo redneck-types. The guy finally makes it to CA where there is a roadblock and he just crashes into the front of a bulldozer-the end. Not sure he was being chased by the Police. Would like to look into it deeper to remember correctly. thx

Anybody remember some ol' car movie where a guy drive a cuda ( I think) across the American desert, meeting different people (boy on a scooter, truck driver, witch lady), andthen crashes into a buldozer just before the movie ends? My vote for wierdest car movie.
  12. I was sstanding next to the TV you see in the avatar with the same clothes on and my mom thought I was on TV!! Magnum P.I. was on...

  14. I think I will never Z a car urdier than thee... (haiku version) Datsun dat soon go smoke tires, smoke ricers, and so so happiest driver (rhyming) my 280Z had to flee a lot full of Hondos civic cvcc's (satanistic) DATSUUUUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!!! boogooda-boogooda-boogooda-boogooda DATSUUUUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!!! he he hehehe hehehe
  15. Thanks, but I'n not ready to do any wiring stuff for many months. I always do reasearch far ahead of time.
  16. The grinding was when using 14 inch rims. The calipers were a little too big.
  17. I was thinking that they could be used for security or aux lights, or even kid-proofing your car. Hopefully someone willl find the information useful.
  18. I looked through my Mouser book and didn't notice any "covers". But a google turned up this page on aircraft switches: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/ntoc.php?sec=el&cat=switchaccessories The covers are held on by the toggle switch's nut.
  19. I chose to use some kind of toggle switch because the turn signals are just a simple switched electrical circuit and you could probablt hide the switch so it's not onvious you changed it, and the original switch will still work as it did.

Just got a thought-- You could take the charcoal cannister (280Z)( from the front and put it where the vapor tank was. Or... just use the vapor tank in place of the cannister. Do you think the engine would evaporate the gas in the gas tank? Or.... just chuck everything for a check valve letting air into the tank.
  22. I drive right-handed, so I would like the turn signals at the top or about 2:00 position. the safety switch has a red protective box over it and you see them in movies for stuff like bombs and lasers and dangerous stuff.

I bet you could go into a Nissan dealer and ask to see a "bluebird" car. the guy will look at you like you're nuts and tell you there no such car at Nissan. but as we all now know, there IS... Next time I feel like causing trouble I'll go do that instead of ordering Pizza at the Radio Shack.
  24. two questions: 1-- what are those switches called with the flip-up safety cover? 2-- can you buy a paddle switch thing, or a switch with a long (4-5 inch) hanndle? I wopuld like to relocate my turn signal switch. thx
  25. I think the use of the 240SX rear calipers is best because the ZX calipers won't work right with the e-brake cable. Here's a few links on rear calipers for you to browse: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2&PHPSESSID=a96540e9cb9f037e2f9de119d0d39e02 http://www.zcarcreations.com/howto/rearbrake.htm http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/280zxreardiscs.htm http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes_zcar.html (front & rear) Hope it helps. With all the differnt options, it gets confusing.
