  1. Now that I think of it, you could conceivable design a fuel cell that is PERPETUAL! the fuel cell takes hydrogen, and combines it with oxygen to make water. Why could you split the water into oxygen and hydrogen, then it iit over again?? theoretecally, of course.
  2. There's no need to worry until at least 2010. That's when GM has said it will have 1 million hydrogen-powered cars built. On top of that there will have to be a MAJOR restructuring of this country's petroleum infrastructure to accomodate hydrogen fuel. From a recent report I read, the plan is to have hydrogen fuel stations every 20 miles or so. Then they will have to start legislation to (outlaw) the use of petroleum fuel, which will take forever, thanks to OPEC and lobbyists supporting the old car owners. I think it would be safe to say that your Zed will be rusted to dust or recycled into a 280,000,000Z! :cheeky: before you will have to swap your engine, fuel tank and carbs for hydrogen-stuff. Didn't I shock you tho?
  3. If the Hydrogen fuel cell is implemented, it means you get no more gasoline, so you get to trash your gasoline powered Zed car! Would you put in an electric motor, assuming it would make your 2500 lb. Zed go any speed at all? You probably wouldn't be able to get it in the highway. thx.
  4. I didn't get anything. Well, we did have ONE car for all the kids to share, and it was not easy. I have a hard time accepting that some parents are dumb enough or vain enough to give their kid(s) money to spend on something as frivolous as a Honduh customized with a non-economical engine, really gimmicky body panels, radio/amps/speakers that will damage your hearing, a really tacky paint job and enough lights to make your car look like a christmas tree.
  5. I guess I got it good then. I am required to live with my mum & dad, but then I only have a huge medical payment, car insurance & such, and a few hobbies to pay for. The rest goes to the Zed, and another savings for a new car- the Escort won't last as long as the Z did ( I assume). I just have to spend enough $$ NOW to get the Zed fixed up enough to be reliable and safe. Possible? Cheer-Z!
  6. I'm interested in hearing some new ideas for getting the money to pay for your Z-car project(s). Maybe you get a car loan or money from mom or dad, or your Aunt Mannie? Are you fortunate enough to have a JOB, or are you filthy rich and can afford anything you want? You know those kids driving rice-- how doees a teen get $20,000 for custom engine, bodywork and Paint job?
  7. The James Bond movies uusually had a good chase scene in each, including motorcycle(Thunderball), and boats (Live and Let die). Especially notable would be in The Man with the Golden Gun where the chase scene between the two AMCs was shot in actual traffic! It's because there's no way they could have stopped traffic for any length of time. Saddly, Mr. Moore wasn't the (stunt) driver.
  8. Well, I would put iut this way.... It took a minute+ to view your attachment, so if you used it as an avatar, it would take an extra minute to wait before you could start reading messages. Something smaller, like a smiley, would be almost unnoticeable, and take probably an extra sec or 3 to load- no big deal there.
  9. IMo, a Z is most suitable for dating or messing around. Start with only 2 seats, so her 'baby bro' can't go with you. There's not much between the seats to get in the way (except maybe the shift lever, if you leave it in 4th) Compare that to a DeLorean, the console comes up to your armpit, and the windows only go down 5 INCHES! Plus, if you tilt the seats forward, you can get in the back to (mess around) ot just watch the stars...
  10. I think they were "Chasing"..... the perfect high....

I like Steely Dan. I was the Bassist (i.e. "rock star" ) for my high school Jazz Band! :beard: Also, I feel that picking an album isn't as good as picking out a list of related songs, like on my " '70s CD." You could consider that an album of sorts, and can be taylored to your mood, or the destination, or "theme" of your trip, like a 50s car show... BTW, you think I could get the :stupid: smiley for my avator?
  12. I think hew means while there is any bare, unprotected metal. After blasting with sand, there is some (sand) still in the cracks & crevices, and is almost impossible to get totally out, so you wouldn't want to get water in those cracks & crevices until you absolutely get it all out and paint or whatever.
  13. Lessee... 85/80W draw means 12Amps high/11.5 amps low? the city light thing doesn't sound bad, especially if it helps you see around a corner. Is that what it does? thx.
  14. there's a old movie called the Racers with Paul Newman, et al, and some real Ferrari cars that were new at the time. the orginal Gone in 60 Seconds had no fake shots. All the stunts were real. Dents were real, etc. Dirt cheap movie. Too bad the guy died.
  15. Straight away you need to make sure you have a spark on the plugs. Maybe even check all 6. Can I assume you have no electric fuel pump? that would need power. Other than that it looks like you've got it covered.
  16. Thanks for the info. I've read up on the cannisteras much as possible. Would like to eliminate that too, maybe by installing a vapor tank? I'll only know if there really is a vapor tank or not in my 280Z when I get those plastic panels out from the back. the haynes book shows the cannister and its hoses, but doesn't say much else. thx.
  17. Is there a picture of the vapor tank? How about one for a 280Z? Should I check my Haynes book?
  18. Is that the same resevoir tank (vapor tank) on the 280Z?
  19. I had some 50s on the back of my old AMC Spirit and it would let go easy. Probably because it was so light.
  20. Would you have problems rolling a tire like that on corners?
  21. What would be the fattest tire you could put on the 14 x 7 280ZX rims?

I have a CD i made last summer I titled, "70's Energy" with all snappy, happy power songs like: Sweet - Fox On The Run (1975) Jay fergusen - Thunder Island (1978) Theme from SWAT (1975) Fox on the run (1975) Starz - Cherry Baby (1977) Pilot - Majic (1975) Alan O'Day - Undercover Angel (1977) Vicki Sue Robinson - TURN THE BEAT AROUND (1976) Theme from SWAT (1975) Pilot - Majic (1975) More... About 22 on a tape or 2 CDs.
  23. If you have ALL the vapor from the tank go back up through the filler neck and vent, isn't that a greater explosion risk than stock?
  24. Are those the infamous "O-Jesus" clips?
