  1. Do you have a pic of the splash pan? I read of one for the 280Z, but never saw one. Same thing? I would like to put one on my 280z. Maybe I can incorporate some kind of an air dam? thx.
  2. was just wondering if you get condensation under the headlight covers? If so, there is the potential for it to get on the plastic and mess up the way it projects? thx.
  3. If you put it that way, I think it's the machine age that really messed up everything. Man was just too immature to put machines to work for him. What i mean is that after there was the steam engine, we immediatedly went to work cutting down & burning the forests to put the engines to work for our "convenience." Then they invented the gasoline engine & cars and airplanes, so we could go take war overseas or wherever to keep our "convenient" way of life going. Airplanes made it easier to spread contageous diseases. Cars made it easier to pollute the air, kill & hurt each other, and cover the ground with rusty old steel car bodies & tires. Not to mention the convenience of buying more STUFF to fill your house (or houses!) up, then go buy a BIGGER house to put it in! There should have been a law that says you got to have all the answers first before you can invent something new. Or a way to recycle new materials. Or a way to clean up your mess. What if "Americans" had stayed with horse & buggy? Or honored all those broken treatries with the American Indians? Now we're "going into space" and I wonder if we're going to mess it up out there. Maybe there are some benevolent beings out there, watching to steer people in the right direction...
  4. I'm glad to see a glimpse back at the days of real MANLY race driving (even though they had women!) No power steering, no paddle shifters or a/c, and only AUDI had all-wheel drive! Dirt in your face, and you fealt like to did a full day's work back then.
  5. Thanks for the compliment. When you really get down to things., you can bet that EVERYTRHING HAS A SIMPLE ANSWER. No matter how complex you might think something is, it's really a simple thing or based on a simple thing. Or several simple things. Even computers. You might think that something complex is keeping it from working right, but when you find out the real reason, you :stupid: yourself for not thinking of it before. I've been studying, servicing, programming computers for years. Even on my OWN stuff. Take your Zed electrical system. Got a short? It's simple: something connected + to - without the load! Or maybe something doesn't work right or work at all: no connection (somewhere). Just find the (where). How about the PYRAMIDS?? Think about that a minute. Those guys lived 2500 years ago. Computers? NO! Only simple clay tablets (rich guys had dried leaves). You could say those guys had the mind of todays 4th-graders. If you want to figure out how they built the pyramids, GO ASK A 4TH GRADER! You'd be surprised at how ingenious they are if they want to be. ...albeit they had generations of experience behind them too. :cheeky:
  6. Easy one. Star Trek IV: "The Voyage home" Mr. Scott said that while in the office at "PlexiCor" Doesn't everybody know that ?????
  7. There is a short video clip Of the McBurnie Car used: http://www.thunderranch.com/gto1.htm
  8. Probably because a T looks like the top view of a steering wheel, and it's easier to draw than an arrow, or some Japanese characters ( no time for that on a moving assembly line). They guy was probably using a spray can to paint it. You gotta give them some credit tover there. They don't have the greed or vanity of business people in the U.S., so they take the TIME to figure things out beforehand and make improvements before going to assembly Take the Honda Asimorobotic man. They don't have anything likethat in the U.S. We're still working on robot bugs, or treaded vehicles. Asimo can climb steps, or dance, and only the sophisticated millitary or police 'tanks' can climb stairs, at best.
  9. WOW Are all those lights coming off the same switch?
  10. HLS30-- the interchange book I remember seeing was just to tell yuou what parts from other cars were suitable for swap, like brakes, trans, etc. BTW, On your web site, the term "roadster" is incorrect. I have it from an "expert" that a roadster is an open-air cockpit car. some people...:disappoin
  11. Wass it tough to get the fuse box out? Oops, I got a 280Z, and I thought I would soak the fusebox in vinegar for a day or two.. just the connector(s).
  12. I have the Eclipse seats in my 280z. The height was (higher) just right so I can get my elbow out the window. Original seats were like sitting on the floor. The problem I had with the Eclipse seats was that the mounts needed moderate mods to fit the Z seat mount holes and seat was wide and crowded the center console, so I cut off the aft part. The fire extinguisher won't fit under the console lid any way.
  13. I agree that an older battery would lose power while sitting. Did you get your alternator checked out? Voltage regulator too. You need to keep the battery full all the time to keep it working right. Never let a lead-acid battery sit while not at ful voltage.
  14. Could you cut some off the isolator to lower the body, or do you have to use those special isolators that were made shorter? It looks like a set of the shorter isolators and lowering spring should get you about 2 inches lower...
  15. Just watching Speed Chanel ( the ARE no other channels, except when NASCAR is on) and they Have some BRE Datsuns in there with the Cobras, Cobra Daytonas, Enzo GTOs, Sunbeam Tigers... Cool. GTO Class under 3000CC Finishing Order: Cobra Daytona Cobra GTO Cobra
  16. I thought the Ansa exhaust tips were supposed to make the sound less loud?
  17. Funny... Uncle d*** was born on Feb 29th, so this year he turns 18! Old enough to fool around with girls!
  18. I was just watching "Victory By Design" On Speed Channel, and they had Porches . There was a comment about how why they put on the ducktail spoilers because it was "unstable at 150 MPH". So there is your answer about what speed you need to get instability.
  19. I usually use 3mm, 1000- strand wires on my radio boat batteries. In that situation, you can see a difference to the ordinary 60-strand wires. The wires are cool to the touch, meaning less resistance. Pure copper, of course.
  20. What do you think those turbulator strips look like? You could easily rivet or screw on a shallow rectangular or wedge-shaped strip on. Maybe even double-sided tape. Something ELSE ricers don't have! Yay! Here's one on the keelfin of an r/c sailboat: http://www.onemetre.net/Technicl/TripTurb/Turb2.jpg
  21. Did anybody try running their Z engine with only the expansion chamber on? I saw some neat Ansa tips and figured it would look cooler than some old rusty tailpipe sticking out there. thx.
  22. WOW, Bambikiller and I agreed on 2 things this week! Any way, I was at the airport yesterday, and Avgas 100 was about $2.50 /gal. That is NOT cheaper than car gas. Also, like said before, it'd better refined, has additives & such. BTW, the COLOR is also so you can tell what octane it is: 80/87 octane = red 100LL (100 octane, low lead) =blue 100/130 = green 115/145 = purple Jetfuel - A = amber (ASTM D910-75) From racing model powerboats with 2 cycle ( 15k RPM) engines with 10 :1 to 16:1 (on modified) compression, we have figured out that the lower octane gas gets you more horsepower in the lower compression, stock engines. That means your basic Ford Escort makes best HP with the 87-89 octane gas, like the owner's manual says. Just make sure you go someplace with good "quality " gas. I filter mine through a coffee filter when filling the boat can and I found dirt once! FYI: they use ethanol, as one way to increase octane. Neat idea? Don't recommend you try it yourself...
  23. Has anybody seen these " turbulator strips in the roof near the forward edge of the hatch"? I'd like to try it and see if there's a difference. Probably not much if you drive below 80 mph. Maybe it will help a little any way. thx.
  24. the tinned wire sounds like a good idea from the corrosion point of view, but if you need a wire for current, you should use a plain stranded copper wire. As you know, the electrons in the wire move along the surface, so the tin would decrease the current capacity.
  25. I just hate when people who 'are in charge' give you that "look" and tell you to do something because it's right or for the better, usually just because they want to exercise whatever little power they have on (subordinates) to do what they think is right. It's weven worse when a bunch of people gang together. Most of the time these people are overstepping their priviledges. Thanks for the support. GunnerRob- I don't really consider myself a Z-car"nut". I'm just nuts
