Bessemer, AL. 35022 Office phone: 205-426-2697 Office fax: Fax 205-426-2699 where they dismantle BMWs, and was able to get an entire engine harness that provides enough connectors for several engines. I even got some rubber parts that worked for the headlamp harnesses ( the rubber covers that go from the inner fender to the lamp.) I think I paid about $25 plus p&p. I need some other connectors, like a couple bullet types for things, but those are found easily.

That's a nice video. It's also good to see that you still have your original (style) mirror We should find a way to mount the camera somewhere about where the driver's helmet is, to get a more realistic view of the track or road.

The Caig DeOxit 100 is what you want to use on connectors that are corroded. The D5 product is only used for maintaining your cleaned connectors, like on your home A/V equipment. I have recently soldered wires on my car successfully. All I did after stripping the insulation off was to use fine steel wool to get the corrosion off. As for soldering the little extensions, how about some color-matching heat-shrink? I thought "naval jelly" was used on aircraft carriers?

An idea I was thinking about implementing recently was to laminate the entire sheet, so you could use dry-eraser markers to trace a circuit right on the sheet. You might even use different colors, or use colors on an uncolored printout.

There is a heavy black wire in the injector/sensor bundle to the intake with a ring terminal- where does that connect to?

I wouldn't suggest that you grind off paint to make a better ground connection under a screw. Removing the paint helps the body to rust. Instead, clean the threads of corrosion as well a you can, and use a non-corroded screw.

Does anyone have the final results from the 2012 event? BTW- The 2BAD Challenge is for BMW, Alfa, and Datsun only, so that ought to be MUCH better to watch than all the usual Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes.

That's why the search feature is your good friend here, and why you'll get a lot of people ask you to try it before posting your question, because 99.9% of all issues you will get on the S30 have been discussed and/or solved. BTW- the current version of the Adobe PDF reader has the ability to print posters, so you can enlarge your colored circuit diagram to 2x4 pages (landscape), using 48% scale and .6 - 1 inch overlap. Print it all out, then glue them together, and you have a fancy color Z poster! P.S. You'll do yourself a big favour by getting a cheap notebook and sketching the individual circuits before you work on something. Note the wire colors and such.

AFAIK, there are those two ring terminals; one on the AFM (case-to-chassis), an the one on the harness clamp (main FI ground), on the intake. The others are bullet connectors to sensors and other small items. If you were to add a grounding circuit to the engine, what size wire would you suggest? I think I would use 10-12 ga stranded wire, and make a daisy-chain from the ground screw (on the firewall by the battery) around to the front (alternator) then over to the dizzy and AFM, then to the intake and cylinder head. Maybe you could then go inside to the ECU case. Yeah, mgood definitely put in a LOT of time detailing the engine area, People ought to be running over to look a it to learn about their own Zs I had the engine out, and we cleaned, painted, and re-wrapped it all, and it still doesn't look that nice.

Come to think of it, where do all the race teams and team support people stay when there is an event at MidOhio? Do they go to Mansfield, or Columbus maybe?

I didn't think you could get up to 100 on the way up to the keyhole That's pretty good for the sedans- the bigger cars like Camaros don't seem to be going that fast on the long straight. the best I ever did in my Z was about 65 on the long straight, but that was on a parade lap, so you were kinda limited for room, and it was in an unrestored car. Thanks for the videos Bill. fred- Yeah, the chicane puts a little damper on outright speed, but also gives you stuff to do besides stare straight ahead.

Higuys, I made it down in (2009?) for the Datsun event you guys worked out. The infield parking was cool, the burgers were good, and having the whole place "to yourself" on Friday was even cooler I don't suppose there is a place locally, or just in Mansfield, where we could get a bunch of people together and book some rooms? It sure beats driving 90 minutes every day both ways.

I was checking the MidOhio racing schedule to see the dates for the vintage weekend, and I read that one of the races for that weekend was called the 2Bad Challenge. Apparently, last year the Datsuns beat the BMWs and Alfas. I was not able to find any details and was wondering if anyone knows what happened there. This year, the BMWs and alfas want to take the 2Bad award back: It looks like you would want to get tickets for this year's event, if you like the SVRA stuff.

If you can look into the aLapRecorderHD application for android. It can record video with GPS or OBD data onscreen, and you can export the video.

Yeah. I think you put the shaft in the center hole, and give the bar with weights a fling and it acts like an impact wrench. If you put the shaft in one of the off-center holes, you get straight leverage instead. It looks functional, but I've seen them in a slightly different design with a nice shiny plating a rubber grip. Any ideas?

OK, I found an example of the lug wrench I was thinking of. This one is called a Safety impact wrench.

This was probably a long while ago, but J.C. Whitney had a lug wrench in the catalog that had a swinging cross-arm with weights on it, like a kind of hand-operated impact wrench. You throw the weights around and it hits a stop and gives the nut a jerk. Have you ever seen one of those?

I'd suggest you use good bit of shrink-wrap, but you'll also have to use high-heat on the heater
