  1. Mr Ferrari was wining races (with cars that had drum brakes) by the bucket until the Jaguars (with the new disc brakes) started winning too.
  2. This is really confusing. If you have a 280Z, then it came from the factory with an L28 engine.
  3. A non L series Engine 32.76% A non Z Engine 36.21% A Non Nissan Engine 37.93% Clearly, these descriptions mean that the engine is changed, and the counts are significant; 62 votes from 123 is 50%.
  4. Gary, I said the same thing a long time ago- #78. Mr. OJ- There was no 'math manipulation.' It's a poll; you vote for something and it tells you how many votes are in which group.
  5. There's no problem with emissions around here, unless you're belching black smoke like a tire fire, but safety and reliability is always a high priority.
  6. If you were to rebuild the engine, would you need to keep records of all the specific things done or parts that were replaced? I m considering what effect a rebuild might have on your Title, or how you would describe the vehicle. What are the important things or new parts you would want to document, if any? Would you begin keeping a new maintenance log from the time it was rebuilt, or just continue with the maintenance schedule from before? Should you say it has "1000 miles" on the engine, or just 1000 miles since the rebuild? Would you consider the vehicle more new, or still consider it an antique? Did I miss anything? thxZ
  7. I'll have to remember to ask for proof. But so far, I just roll my eyes every time he tells this 'fact' to a spectator.
  8. I know a guy with a 260Z that has an authentic factory electric sunroof.
  9. You can't actually use anything from the Urban Dictionary website. It's run by illiterate urban teenagers, and they use urban slang as the definitions of urban slang?
  10. I've read some of the stuff on the Urban dictionary website. the people that contribute there are worse than over at zcar.com... The same people are probably the authors of the "SMS dictionary for the illiterate." I'd rather use Wikipedia for a definition of this, or just wait until some TV show on the Discovery Network provides a definition of "Bad arse car"
  11. I was at MidOhio all last weekend, and I can tell you, the manufacturers must've had every 22 year old girl with nice looks from a 10 mile radius of the place! Every 15 minutes I was walking around the infield, a couple girls would run up to me and ask, " Can we get a picture with you?" That kind of reaction hasn't happened since college.
  12. Of course you'd know that if you've watched ay of the historical TV pset, you shows or video series about the Z car. I got his book at the 2008 convention and I read it, and there's a LOT more to it than you see on some TV show. Bt I would just like to say this to all those who are quick to pull out the nukes when someone makes a candid reference to Mr K. and "designing the Z car:" ASK first if the person is serious or joking. If you get upset you only make yourself look bad. Another thing a lot of people get mixed up was at the 2010 convention, when it was the "40th anniversary" but if I'd mention that the Z car had 50 years of history behind it, people would get upset and try to offer correction where it wasn't needed.
  13. I could probably tolerate the body work on that one, but the paint is what makes it sick. Literally!
  14. I think another important thing about this; is there supposed to be a tire size/pressure decal, like newer cars have? I know the information is in the owner's manual, and you could probably make up something to stick on the door jamb.
  15. Is there supposed to be a tire size decal for a 280Z? Does anyone have a photo, or know of a place to get one? thxZ
  16. Since it wasn't a Gnose in the first place, I would have to say no on this one, but the conversion looks nicely done, so you can still appreciate the car. All the rest is pretty much hidden or not as noticeable, according to the 50 MPH rule, so I could let that stuff slide.
  17. My car is a '78 John, and I'm in class E (E stock.) But I would say all the parts are stock equivalent. It's just the little nitpicky things that tech people are concerned about, like the missing emblem that was never on the hood, since I bought the car. It makes you feel as if they don't want you there,. The rules make some allowances, mentioning "provided that the weight of the car doesn't change significantly," IIRC, but from what I've been told, the weight of a hood emblem is significant on a 2600 LB car? The rims are from a ZX, and are the same width as the steel ones. I considered STR or STX, but the cost of the new tires required is outrageous. This autocross stuff should be in another topic, probably.
  18. That's beginning to be a problem lately. I do some autocross, and the tech guy is getting strict. You try to explain that the car has been out of production for almost 40 years, but the tech guy just says, "It's not stock, according to the SCCA rules" to your aftermarket part, and he puts your stock S30 into a more expensive class, like ESP (E Street Prepared.)So either you build a full-out competition car to compete in the modified class, or build a time machine to get factory parts, or you buy a new BMW, to go to the local autocross. But for regular street driving, I would just go with whatever will make the vehicle functional, reliable, and safe, and still allows you to maintain the Z-ness. Most spectators don't know the difference, or will mis-interpret the part as a mid-model-year correction of some sort (the casting lines on the intake are supposed to be "corrective welds" so I was once told.)
  19. Hahahahaha!!! So that's how they did the racing in the F&F movies??
  20. I thought you were going to show us a BMW, as hose are classified as "executive cars," but I like what you have done. I prefer bright colors for safety, but you are welcome to paint it a you like.
  21. The first thing I noticed was the bumper, which made me think "Porsche 911" but looking at all if it, makes me think "G-nose Z" so there you go. Since I haven't seen it up close, I'll give you the benefit of "not seeing it up close yet." I'm not a fan of the big rims, but it looks like there is still a little air between the tires and the fender lip, which is good. Will- I remember the snow plow, but I don't remember the image! haha
