  1. I'm taliking about the EXTERIOR panel BTW, Rob. not the one inside with the removeable shells for the lightbulbs. So... I need to remove the screws & put in rivets. Why'd you think the P.O. put in screws? They were honding well. I even took them out to polish the heads. On the other hand, rivets don't have threads to cut the metal underneath & rust. The Murray's (discount auto) had some rivets that are really cheap & very close to the Datsun rivets, but look stringer & removeable (phillips-head) Should we start using a new term for the "R-word?"
  2. I got hit with penaties last weekend at a show because my taillight panel didn't have rivets (regular interior rivets) along the top? I saw one car with rivets there, but mine had button-head screws. Which is correct? thx
  3. I'm sure you could probably get the E-Clip you need to replace the circlip, I put on some new ones, as they didn't seem to fit well;, and I thopugfht they might fall off. thx
  4. I ordered a 'kickpanel from Zspecialties. he tells me the only other pieces down there are the one accress the firewall to cover the wires, and the 'ski' piece aling the right front bottom. thx
  5. Is there a common material that you can find at a DIY or art store, etc., that can be used to make panels like on the hatch bottom, etc? It should be thin, yet stiff enough to not flex much if you touch it and not crush when you attach with screws. thx
  6. On my 280Z, I was going to remove the covering completely, then all the padding and cut a piece of the corrugated plastic board, RTV silicone ( or Goop) it into the metal frame, then have the vinyl sewed up along the edges. I'm also reshaping the metal wire frame to fit the new rearview mirror. thx
  7. Is it supposed to be video, or just some sound? I've tried to view it as video on different computers, and nothing will show on the screen, but the sound was good. thx
  8. YOu should be able to get those ball couplers (metal ones) through a hardware supply chain like McMasters.com Maybe they have plastic ones.
  9. Didn't I just say it was tied down, and isn't going to move?
  10. Spare tire is held down with a 2in tiedown strap.
  11. The only stuff I have left are a some standoff/support brackets the deck sits on. there were never any straps, and the only threaded holes are for the bolts holding the brackets.
  12. n/m Will. I don't even have a rear deck like yours.
  13. I have no idea what those are, or those don't exist on my car,
  14. remember the cargo nets? Looks like fish netting. Was it ever an option on the Z? I remember lots of domestic hatchbacks having them. So I think I might be able to get on on the deck of my car to keep the stuff back there under control., especially since there's not too many place to put stuff with the spare back there. I would probably attach it to/under the chrome strip along the front of the deck and some hooks & velcro straps along the back. where can you get those? The only place I found one was jcwhitney.com thx
  15. Doesn't the 2+2 VIN start with a G? It should be GHLS30- ######
  16. Keep in mind it's only the prototype for the final thing, so there might be some differences later. They're even finalizing the domain name at this time.
  17. My grill, taillight finisher, license light hood and the rear bumper fillet are all flat black. At least it's all the same colour.
  18. So are the GMRS channels. The FRS channels are all 267 MHz, and the GMRS channels are all 462 MHz, as are the combination FRS/GMRS channels. thx
  19. Oh yeah- From my research, I learned that channels 1-7 are GMRS channels (FRS too). Because it has GMRS and FRS on it, does that mean you need a license to transmit to an FRS radio? thx
  20. I actually bought 6 radios from eBay. Two for myself, andthe others I gave to the nieces & nephews. Now, I probably need a VOX mic for use in the car. Any recommendations or pointers? thx
  21. I measured the diameter of the shank at 7mm, and the diameter of of the head at 15mm. the length ofthe shank is about 2 inches. The service guy will tewill me if the shank is smooth or threaded. Here's a drawing.
  22. Lots of the newer luxury cars have analog clocks. Chyslers, Lincoln, cadillacs.
  23. I forgot about that one! So i finally got a place that can do the work. I still need to measure the size of the pin. I'll let you know... thx Lance.
  24. On my driver's door the pin that the spring-loaded arm (with the notches on it) pushes on to keep the door open has broken off. Did that pin screw in or was it pressed? Does anybody know the size of the pin? thx
