  1. Somebody mentioned higher wattage 194 bulbs. Can you really get them, and what would the number be? thx
  2. Is that like the riding mower with the blown 455 chevy engine on it (in it?) ?? On the other hand, did you ever see the 'mower races' where they get a Cub Cadet to go about 60 MPH? thx
  3. that would be something if my lawnmower had that kind of power, huh?
  4. How much coolant do you let out when you change the thermostat? I think it's about a gallon (3 qts.) And where does it come out? I think my radiator has a valve on the bottom tank. I should probably replace my thermotime switch. thx
  5. That's why I have a fuel-efficient Ford Escort that gets 30+ MPG for those LONG trips where the fuel depots are 100 miles apart!
  6. Before you start tinkering yourself, don't you think it would be a good idea to make surethat all the consumable or replaceable stuff is either replaced, checked or cleaned? I mean like, new air filter, oil change & filter, a GOOD coil, spark plugs & wires. I even had my L28 engine decarbonized, which seemed to help some. I think next, I would want to remove the AFM (or carburettors) and either carefully clean them or rebuild, then the same to the other stuff, then finally the wiring, if possible. FWIW
  7. I'm getting about 20 average, ranging from 20 - 23 so far. No emmissions stuff (L28 with e.f.i "doesn't need emmissions stuff"). I took off the EGR last summer and I'm going to fix up what's left to look nicer and work better. FWIW
  8. Sorry to tell you, but, There's no easy or direct answer to your question, except, "Check everything." I have a 78 280Z with the e.f.i, and the Nissan dealer guy said mine is rich too. You can check/service/replace the AFM, the thermotime switch, even the wiring. "Original" doesn't really mean anything good, except it has all the parts that it had when new. Most of those parts are now old and maybe even worn out or the performance has degraded. That means you'll have to fudge things someplace, if just replacing some simple things doesn't help, like the thermotime switch. I think the best thing we can do is to replace the wiring, but you can't get those either.
  9. Do they have, like PAVED roads in China?? I mean the kind you can gto 200 MPH on? thx
  10. I kind of like having a separate switch for the headlight, considering how much current is going through the switch contacts. I think it would even look cool to have one of those 'protected switches with the flip-up covers. Anybody got a link for those protected switches(safety switches)? thx
  11. Good point(s) Mike- In trickle-charger circuits, we sometimes use small incandescent bulbs to limit the current, so in essense the bulb is working like a resistor or a high-resistance wire, which is what most of us deal with.
  12. I don't have ANY idea where you could go 200 MPH, except in an airplane, and the German Autobahn doesn't go to too many cities.
  13. http://www.ultimaterally.com/ It sounds like a new gumball rally is brewing... What do you think?

    Online Racing

Thereason I prefer the PC for the online racing is that because (I assume) we are all using PCs to view and contribute to these forums. Unless you have a Web TV.
  15. the ionly way I can think of pushing down on the latch arm is to put a wedge-shaped (ball?) adapter at the end of the cable. Maybe even a cam or cam-shaped 'key' would work. The cam would also be very similar to a bellcrank arm. thx

I tried racer too. It took forever for it to run, or it was slower than concrete in february. It could have been my 'old' computer...
  17. I think they giet a pair of matched or very similar cars, like the 240Zs, or the Ranchero/El Camino. It wouldn't me much of challenge for one team if the cars were obviously mis-matched.

Is GT4 for PC or what? thx
  19. The rubber stamp sounds like a good idea for the factory, but us non-OEM-types wil have to improvise. the high-tech print probably won't look like the original, but except for concours events, what would it matter?
  20. I was watching the lastFull Throttle show, with the Ranchero v. El Camino, and I noticed that they used Brand new crate engines! Why didn't they do that with the 240Zs??? Maybe you can't get a new L24, but there are other engines that will fit, and those "experts" should have been able to hook them up just as quickly, or maybe with an extra day, as it could be considered a special case. Another reason why I think they should have opted for road-racing instead of drag-racing.
  21. When you talk about a 'template' or stencil, I think of crates of Army stuff with those letters that look like they're all 'broken up.' I'm not sure you could use a stencil to print labels unless it's done via silkscreen transfer. what about a laser-printed, or etched, foil label? Is there such a thing? "Burning" the characters in would be more permanent & durable IMO, no? thx
  22. Some day --I'LL-- figure out a way to reverse rust on body panels so the floorpans, wings, etc. won't rust away. Maybe even wiring. It's one of the two things Datsun didn't address: better wiring & connectors metal coatings to preventrust How much do you worry about rusting body panels today? thx
  23. I'll bet they had more time on the history for the American cars, than the 240z. Maybe because of the 'mystery' of the Z-car History, or because it's "not an AMERICAN car." I'll have to dig up my tape and watch the show again. I really don't care for any of the contemporary imports, especially Japanese. But for what it is, the Zs are the only imports I have respect and admiration for- which is why I have one. It's too bad the American designers & engineers were too closed-minded to come up with something like it on their own.
  24. I think the way the numbers weere put on the foil labels were more like the way the P-touch stuff works. I would go to a laminator or a sign shop and ask them if they can help. I would consider laminating the label or something like that, so the writing doesn't get rubbed off. I lost the niumber off my AFM that way.
