  1. It sounds like you and your neighbors need to organize yourselves and maybe get some professional help. This seems to get getting out of control.
  2. that kind of thing can happen to any of us. In my neighborhood where you can "leave your car unlocked" I wonder what might happen to my Zed after I get the GTO body with flashy red paint on there. Not to mention the knock-off wheels (eventually), the interior is scheduled to have some custom aluminum door panels, & the carpet will get mods for the vinyl hump cover, shifter boot, maybe others. You hear about things happening, during the summer, when kids are out of school & looking for stuff to do... Bill- how about a chainmail car cover?
  3. So by the same reasoning, a Mustang would be an American girl, Audi would be a German, BMW would be Bavarian, SAAB would be scandinavian, etc.? Amd my bros '34 blown street rod would be my grandma? ??
  4. What is that supposed to mean!??? :devious: Something wrong with my gf??? or my 280Z??
  5. If you ask me, I'd say it would have to be an eastern-european girl. No.... WOMAN. My gf is of czechoslovakian heritage, and she is beautiful, lean with curves, yet a little rough in just the right places. Simple, yet elegant. But mostly reliable and fun! She seems to like a little roughness.
  6. My associates at work know me for being very thorough in my research. I have all the info I need, thx. I think we're thoroughly discussted about this subject?
  7. It sounds like it's not too hard. But it'll take me a few hours to do. thx.
  8. When you take the fan off, do you have to first remove the fan shroud? there doesn't seem to be much room to work inside the shroud. I assume using some spanners, you can get those long bolts out? thx
  9. Why not take the propeller idea all the way and extend a shaft through the radiator and put some kind of prop on the end? If you even add some kind of duct, you'd get a kind of 'ram-air' huh? how easy would it be to put a round hole in the (middle) of the radiator core? BTW, thanks for all the info. I'll have to try it all out if/when I get my car back. I have a long list of stuff to do... thx
  10. Ok, I read it, again. I have that (article) in my notebook already, it's dated in January. ther ewas no reason to remember because I still don't have my car back.
  11. i saw that info somewhere else, too.
  12. My (fan) does sound like a 'hovercraft' when the engine runs. I kinda thought it was partly engine noise. I gave mine a wing just now and it did spin just a little. I would take it that mine could use an overhaul, but isn't like new. Also, I read somewhere that you should use "toyota silicone oil"? Don't remember where or which oil tho.
  13. I thi9nk I would suggest you also check the wiring to the AFM. The throttle is mechanical, and the dizzy is mechanical, so those can't go wild without the engine wild first. The rest of the wiring is temp, oil & water sensors, plus alternator. the only thing I can think of is the computer/AFM not communicating, so the computer thinks it's running at WOT... Whatever the problem really is, is simple.... when you find it.
  14. You put in a set of RUBBER T/C bushings too, Right??
  15. Nope. I thought I could free up some Hp if the fan was free-wheeling until needed to cool the radiator, like while stopped in traffic. On the highway, there should be enough air through the radiator to keep it cool, so airflow from the fan isn't needed.
  16. Ok, so then how do you know if the clutch is working right? Can you spin the blades with the engine off or something?
  17. Isn't that what I said? No sense in turning the fan when you're on the highway.
  18. Then we are kind of back to the original question...
  19. Mine must be siezed up then. OL...
  20. Ok... So if you stomp on the gas, the clutch will slip and the engine will rev easier. Does it still slip at WOT, when you're moving?
  21. A fairly simple question that isn't explained in the Haynes book, et al. I thought that it's supposed to disengage when the air coming through the radiator is 'cool?' Gives more HP while you are at speed, then engages when not rolling along? My fan turns all the time, even right after you start the cold engine. thx
  22. Mine is more of a Beasty. Sure doesn't drive like no girl! Any hoo... Had the fluids changed two summers ago, trans rebuilt last spring, and it's time for the annual, 1000-mile oil change.
  23. That's cool, but only part of what I need- I assume so. What else should I get? plug wires ballast resistor ????? thx
  24. I can relate to what happened to ZmeFly... About 5-6 years ago, I developed a blood clot in my leg. I diidn't do anything for a few days, because i thought I just had sore muscles, until my leg was swollen all day long, and felt warm, like a fever. So I went to the ER and they told me "Go home, take a tylenol- you got sore muscles." I went back the next day to complain it's NOT sore muscles, then they finally got around to a sonogram of my leg and figured out it was a DVT. So I went to the Cleveland Clinic and got all the exams they give a 35 yr old guy. Then the doc told me they had to start the I.V. to deal with the clotting, or I might get a pulmonary embolism. I'm OK now, except for some lower leg attrophe from being a couch potato. My VR cycling machine cures that.
  25. Is there somebody thar makes a "tune up kit" for the 280Z? I mean stuff like dizzy cap, rotor, points/condenser, plug wires, etc. What else should I get? All I did so far was put in new spark plugs. thx
