  1. Do you mean something like putting on the Mega Squirt fuel injection system in stead of the L- Jetronic? I hear of some HybridZ guys doing it with "big improvements." You might notice the difference IF you are thoroughly familiar with the L28E engine.
  2. I'm not familiar with the L31, but the car in the video sounds nice to me- like an old Jaguar or the like.
  3. I repaired mine using regular hex bolts. I ground the head to the right angle and shape to fit the vent, and attached it with JB weld. I also made a pattern from card to hold the bolts vertical until the JB weld cured.
  4. Is the sound the engine makes something that can spoil the S30 experience? Some people like the factory sound (if you have an original car) and some people like the Ferrari sound....
  5. OK, I think we've discussed the engine stuff a LOT, so how about discussing other modifications you can make to the S30 that put it 'over the top' or just go too far. Giant tuner-style wings on the back, a whale tail, spare Tyre on the hatch maybe? Monster tyres? Window tinting? How do you feel about video screens, XBOX, and subwoofers in the S30?
  6. here you go- like the F1 240Z video from Gira... I've heard chicken-clucking to "In the Mood," dogs barking "Jingle Bells," a guy burping (some song, I forget which) and probably a couple others I don't remember right now. That seems like a respectful way to portray (not honor) the marque. Jerry Reeds "East Bound And Down comes to mind, but with an S30 twist. Maybe a title like "Twisty-Bound to Town." Do you think it's possible to "Mona Lisa" an S30? I mean some kind of classic portrait that people would like to use as a desktop wallpaper? Anything is better than pissing. Man... my email trash bin is getting really BIG now.
  7. It's a topic really worth discussing, -if- certain people would stop the pissing. About the only thing left to do is to report the abusive or off-topic posts, for removal. What if you could suspend some user accounts for a few days to get things back in-line?
  8. Don't tell the Mustang, Honda, or BMW owners that. They think they are driving sportscars. According to Wikipedia, Mustangs are still pony cars, Hondas are compacts, and BMWs are classified as "executive cars."
  9. This is getting ridiculous, and way off-topic. Steve, you start recording songs about the Z. Diseazed, you paint a picture about a Z.
  10. You guys are getting off-topic. The topic is to discuss what kinds of modifications of the S30 marque car go too far; that it makes you wonder what car it is- or was. It's NOT about how to give honor to the marque.
  11. gary, You can't add the percentages of the votes to get any kind of a total. If you add all the percentages, you get over 200%! You can add the number of votes in the desired groups, and compare it to the total (after recalculating the percentage.) I think that is what you intended o do. As for the Mona Lisa- You can honor it by putting it in a fancy room with some color-correct lighting, having a few musicians play period music, and some good friends and food, for example.
  12. If you really want to modernize something, I'd suggest you do what all the tuner-heads do, and get yourself a Lexus or an Acura, or the like...
  13. Would you honor a vintage Ferrari by taking out the V-12 engine and putting in a modern V-8 engine, just because the V-8 might have more horsepower? IMO, That would be a BIG step in the wrong direction.
  14. I've mew you only a few times, and it seems you'd like just about any reason to converse over a 'beverage.'
  15. Just like the Model T I recently saw, with an Accel distributor, and spark plug wires? It even had an alternator from a Honda motorcycle.I supposed you'd install a satellite receiver with CD player and 4 speakers?
  16. Most know that "matching numbers" isn't a big thing, since the engines & chassis weren't made together, like they were in Detroit. If a car does have "matching numbers" then that's a cool thing to make note of.
  17. Classic "looking?" That is a big part of the whole point of this topic, to retain the classic looks and feel of this vehicle. Anything but OEM designs are out-of-the-question.There is not much you can do to update the S30. Some things (updates) that would be welcome is completely rewiring, using new wires and new, but OEM connectors. You'd still have to use the old switches, motors, lamps, etc., but that's about all that would really "update" things. I don't think you can get an NOS AM radio or power antenna, but you could retrofit modern electronics to the OEM receiver case, rendering the station buttons useless. The only other "updates" might be the front calipers, changing to steel brake drums, stainless brake and fuel line tubing, polymer flexible brake & fuel lines hoses, and urethane coatings overall (underbody coatings, and body paint) not to forget all those plastic and vinyl parts all over the car. I can't think of many engine updates (on the L28E engine) besides new wires & connectors, and certain rubber parts.
  18. This is not so. I've watched these auctions, and the final bids are always very disappointing. The exceptionally restored ORIGINAL vehicles always get the highest bids, excepting the ones with a notable history. You must be referring to some of the custom cars from the more famous builders.
  19. The poll closes on the 29th, so make sure to get your vote in or your opinions won't count!
  20. Dennis- Don't forget Cap'n Crunch! BTW- is full name is Cap'n Horatio Magellan Crunch.
  21. The way I heard it.... Nissan was building engines under a license for Mercedes, and used that as an example to designing their own engine.
  22. I agree too. If I go to a car show or cruise-in, I walk right past the Corvettes or other new cars until I find something with real character. It might be a rat rod, an early corvette, a nicely kept model T or model A, or something completely different. Sometimes you see the owner sitting by his shiny new car, and when you walk by without even looking (and they watch you!) you can tell they seem a little (offended.) You can tell which cars have had a lot of TLC or midnite wrenching by the cleanliness or detail that is there- be it engine or interior- and after working on or maintaining an S30 for so many years, instead of just swapping engines straight-away, you can really appreciate it.
