  1. I finally got some time to work on my Z and pulled the interior out. I bought the car in August and it's been in a barn since 1987ish. Here's some pics of the inside and what I found under the seats. Didn't know Sonic sold cigarettes. I got the lighter to fire up with some persistence! The bracket on the transmission tunnel was for the C.B. The tool kit looks to be original and all there. What did you find under the seat of your Z when you were tearing apart?

Here's an update. I took my tank and radiator to Rogers Radiator and Garage and he hot tanked em both and pressure checked them. The gas tank was fine, but the radiator has a bad seam at the top. He said he couldn't get an aftermarket and it was $350 to re-core my unit. The tank however came out great. You can see the red sealant inside and some of the rust under it, but looks coated very well. They charged me $135 to hot tank, pressure check both of em, and coat the tank. I'll try and get some pictures posted. Thanks for the input! Dave

I got my tank off the car yesterday and it had about a 1/4 tank of gas that was left in it since 1988. The tank is gunked up and and rusty. I power washed it and got a good bit of stuff out of it, but it still looks nasty. The only product I've found that looks decent is the POR-15 kit. I've looked for a replacement tank, but none of the aftermarket companies show them in inventory (72 240z). Motorsport shows the tank marked with an A which I guess means it may or may not be in stock. Would I be better off to try and find a decent tank, or use the POR-15?

I have a 72 240z that I'm redoing and after getting feedback on the carb forum, I'm going to stay with the Stock SU's. As I redoing the car, I'd like to get a little more performance out of it, but do not want to negatively impact reliability as this will be a daily driver. I was thinking mild cam and headers, but haven't seen much on mods and what results to expect. For a daily driver, could I get 175 horse out of the 2.4 with these mods or more? I appreciate your input!

Looking for input on carb selection. I have a 72 240z that has been sitting in a barn for 20 years. I'm just starting to work on it and would like to have the original SU's on the car, but have heard so many conflicting ideas on whether to keep them or change them out. The dual Weber setup has been recommended. I just don't want to spend time and money on the SU's if they won't be a good choice for an every day driver. What I'm looking for is dependability and reasonable performance. Any suggestions from some of you that have tried the options and know what works well? Thanks so much for the input!
