  1. .... "The Force is Strong with this One"... Zeddyone... (couldn't help myselfLOL ) You Got an AMEN on that one from me. Preachin' to the Choir It took me a while to finally get it, and I'm afraid there are only a very few young folk who will accept the accelerated learning curve from someone who been there, done that, got the scars ...err umm... T-shirt, to prove it. Tuck\o/
  2. Some of you all may know GrumpyVette from other sites. I found he has 8 gigs of HotRodding Type info he's downloading to a website. Calculators, Tool's How to,etc. I realize it's not Z specific however there's all kinds of Automotive Things to Peruse and you don't have to worry about your wife and kids looking over you shoulder. Good.. Clean.. Fun. http://grumpysperformance.com/ Tuck\o/
  3. Apologies for not putting this in Classifieds, I don't know how to copy the photo's from Hybrid Z to here. Here is a link to the factory service manual for a '78 car. (edited out) There should be several "Test" procedures that should help. There's lot's of fuel injection stuff in the archives, (I know its tough to find somewhere to start) Read through the section on the fuel injection in the service manual (as per SBlake linky) and I'll try to find the link to the nissan fuel injection book. Tuck \o/ (DoHH! it was right below the previous link!) http://www.xenons30.com/files/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf
  6. I would have to 2nd that emotion on the pipe wrench..:disappoin That's what it took on my '71 and the '83. A few shots of PBblaster/Kroil/seafoam Deep-Creep etc. may help, but both cars Tranny & Diff were equally as difficult. They had to be up high enough to get a cheater on the pipe wrench. When that puppy broke loose it sounded like I surely snapped the lug off the plug. It's Tight.. If the pipe wrench and cheater didn't work I was gonna try some heat. (let's hope you won't have to go there) Snug up the pipewrench on the Flats and try not to yank on the cheater. Slowly apply the pressure to keep the wrench from twisting off the plug. Re-assembly with some anti-seize and/or teflon tape on the threads, and just "snug" should help with maintenance later. Good Luck, Tuck \o/
  7. You said earlier you adjusted the carbs, those Three screw S.U.'s might also have the "Last Chance Filter" in the banjo fitting at the carb inlet, that might be worth a peak if the main filter pans out. Tuck \o/

This appears to me to be the "Flow Guide Valve" It's part of the emissions Sys. It's on page EF20 of the serv. man. (I know.. if you had the Manual...) There should be some letters engraved or stamped on the body. A)=Air Cleaner should connect to the rear of the stock air cleaner C)= Crankcase there should be a small nipple off of the larger crankcase breather tube on the "drivers side" below the intake/exhaust near the front of the engine. F)= Fuel Tank This is the short Rubber to Hardline going to the fuel tank. (line your are asking about) actually to the vapor liquid separator tank. The fuel flow thingy lets fresh air from the air cleaner flow eventually to the fuel tank, as you use-up the fuel in the tank one of the jobs of this valve is to "relieve" the vacuum in your fuel tank, (so as not to starve carby's). The other job is to vent the pressure, when the engine is not running, and fuel vapors accumulate (build in the fuel tank and liquid separator) once the pressure builds to .04 inHg the little flow valve thingy allows these vapors to be accumulated in the crancase. When the engine is started these fumes should be sucked into the intake manifold an burned, that is of course if everything is hooked up factory. There are springs and balls inside that move to open and close the direction of vacuum/pressure. Whew!! thats a lot of typin' for a hunt and peck single digit keyboard operator.! :stupid: Tuck \o/ Link to clymer/haynes at autozone http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280071b54

929, This link has a brief description and cutaway, hope this makes things a bit more clear. http://www.secondchancegarage.com/public/535.cfm I'm thinking the small hole you see in the pump is not unlike a small hole in waterpumps, that would indicate a bad seal/ failure. I have also seen the crankcase contaminated with fuel due to a bad mech. fuel pump. Tuck\o/

There are a few diagrams near the bottom of the thread that may help. I swore I must have copied at least 4 of the distributor and alternator swaps and can't seem to keep anything organized in this 'putor. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributor/index.html http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/StockToZXIng.jpg Tuck \o/

  19. I would like to try to swing two sets also. Have you checked in with the other Datsun forums? You would think lots of the Japanese imports of the same era used the same suppliers. (or am I all wet?.:surprised.) Tuck \o/
  20. If you notice the location of the clip on the dist. caps #1 is on the same terminal in both photo's. The plug is the Cylinder Head Temp Sensor (CHTS) for the E.F.I. Tuck \o/

Carl & Friends, Make that 9774 Right Hand Drive 240Z's. There is a Lady in my small Nor. Cal. town that got the RHD 240 for her daughter's first car and still has it. I saw a "Suspicious" tarp out near the barn and had to inquire. The Lady who answered the door was not very.. umm.. willing to talk to me, so I had to do a little snooping around. I happen to work with her Nephew and got the scoop. Gold with black interior. R/F fender dented. all original. Since I found it a year ago the owners have put it in the garage and my co-worker took my son over to look at the car and he verified RHD dented fender all original etc. He didn't get the vin or pics. The owner was obviously irratated by the surprise visit but her nephew just laughed and said Remington (my son) needs a car for high school and he'd give her $2500.00 bucks for it. She just chased them out of the garage with her walker ... Oy-Va... I'll get more info if I can find a way to approach her... I'm thinking maybe I can get Cesar Milan " the dog whisperer" to come up and help. Tuck \o/
  25. H.P. You posted this just to--- gloat--...... well... it's working!! Sure, there may be more things to work on than what's in the piccy's but, Your "Friend" appears to have turned you on to a great find... ...I rekon I need to work on not coveting thy neighbors good fortune...:sleepy: Well done, Tuck \o/
