Our '83 has it. Tuck \o/
  2. Clay, The interior looks great!, I mean the whole interior. I have neither the talent or money to accomplish that. How long does it take to cut out a patten and sew something that large? The blue of the gauge lights stands out nicely and would appear to be easy on the eyes at night. Two Snaps Up! Tuck \o/

Red-Dawg, I have a link to the Atlantic Z dist swap. http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributor/index.html The wiring dia. at the bottom has the 240 to ZX swap. I don't know how to cut out the bottom portion for you, however if you scroll to the bottom it is there. Tuck \o/
  4. Tom, Well Done! Merry Christmas from the Left Coast. Your production skills are great, I think I just spent about 1HR going through your stuff. Being a hunt and peck, drag and drop, single digit 'puter operator I Envy your work. Wife looks happy, car looks great. Shalom! God Bless, Tuck \o/

Arminas, I believe the '82 & 83's are pretty close (depending on build date) FSM's are pricey but worth it if you can afford one. Snooping around this site, may help. http://carfiche.com/fiche009/s30/index.pl Tuck\o/

CDY1, I also was quite taken aback at first by the several different ways I found online to tune these critters. I am no expert by any means, however ZTherapy.com has two videos that clear up everything. I got the "SU's only" tape for about seventeen dollars . The earlier Zcar tape has a short carb tuning segment and valve adjustment etc. If you can swing it or will be keeping the SU's I highly recommend the tape. It is a bit Dated(2000) and the sound quality was pretty rough but you'll save yourself the seventeen bucks or so in frustration and see exactly how to service and tune those thangs. Tuck\o/

Thanks Sblake for the carfische confirmation. I found that searching the site but was not sure how close, or not to the '83 was to '82. I guess I should have known the cars are more "build date" than year to year change. :stupid: Thanks again for not getting miffed at newbs. Tuck\o/

Nurse L, My sons 83zx had the same condition after we replaced a head gasket. The heavy smoke and lack of power, seems to be running on two cyls and carbon building up on exhaust tip,was due to the Cylinder Head Temp Sensor located on the Pass side of the engine towards the rear 1/3 of the head just above the block. (As posted above by KTM ) There are two pin connections in the plug. It looks just like a water temp sensor, plastic cap on brass body. One of the other guys may have a way to test the loop. I have been trying to find a F.S.M. for under $80.00 :surprised. If you can find one GRAB IT! It would surely help tracking down.... Z gremlins. Tuck \o/
  9. What about a applying for a lost title and statement of facts.?? I just went through two junkyard motorcycle rebuilds ( CR500 & XR600) and a '96 Ranger. Ask the DMV for the paperwork for a lost title and a statement of facts and a permit to move the vehicle to the Dmv for identification verification. You will also need proof of insurance, unless you get a non-op registration for her. Another option to avoid insureance is to call the local police or CHP and have them drive out to your residence and verify the Vin and Engine #'s. If you have them come out you will need to have the paperwork in hand and filled out for them to sign. (They don't carry ant with them). There is no cost for the Police /Chp thing. Tuck\o/
  10. I will be doing this in the future and am wondering since the steel "sleeve" does not rotate, and neither does the bushing, I can't see why not eliminate the sleeve as the bolt rotates inside the bushing. Does this make sense? The load is between the bolt and the bushing, right? Thats why the bolt gets a "cam" worn in it and must be pressed out. Tuck \o/
  11. Well Done !! :) :) That thang growls like its taunting you to drive it...Hard  Tuck \o/ <--------- 8)
  12. I'm about 70 mi. north of Redding, Unfortunately I may not be the best appraiser as I just got my '71 in august and am still learning... If Kieth can't make it I guess I could run down and take some photo's and e-mail or something. It looks like I'll be working out of town fri 10/5 but should be back home sat night sun morning. Let me know if I can help. Tuck \o/

Darbji, The other folks found the same wheels I have and they are in WAYY better shape than mine. You still have first dibbs, just let me know either way. I'll keep these until I get some smaller ones or somebody else really has to have them. =) Tuck \o/

These are the wheels on Tuck '71, are these what your looking for Darb? Check out that custom exhaust!
  15. Z's, Condensers are rated in Farads (sp?) I think an alternator rebuild shop could recommend a rating. The condenser is for reduced radio interference. To the best of my knowledge, Tuck \o/

Dees' Thanks for the tip, I've done some motorcycle e-bay stuff but this would be the largest Item I may have to ship. Darb has first dibs, Photo's to follow...9/28 a.m. (Pacific) Tuck \o/

Darbi, If no-one closer has a set send me a P.M. and I'll snap a few pics of the set on my '71. I'm affraid shipping from 96067 might be pretty steep. P.O.'s had put in some in-correct washers, however they are serviceable and in need of good media blasting. Tuck \o/
  18. BK, I had an extremely rich condition due to the fact my #1 carb jet was well below top of the carb body due to the fiber/washer it rides in had never been run fully up in the lean position. I had to soak it in WD-40 a few hrs to soften it and (with difficulty) run it up full lean and then back it out 2 turs to start tuning. Is the distance from the carb body to top of the jet approx. the same distance in both carbs? I had to remove the carbs and dissasemble to finally track down that gremlin. Have a peek down the body at the jets and see if they are approx the same distance down the body from the throat. The tail end of a caliper might fit between the carb body wall and the jet or... even the little red spray straw from a can of WD and a small sharpie to mark the "straw" with. Good Luck, Tuck \o/
