Good point John. They were good to work with on the phone. I have a replacement dogleg panel that I'm having trouble with and the guy at Tabco said they'd send another and if it fit better then to just smash the old part with a hammer and email them the picture of it and they'd credit my account. I'll keep doing business with these guys.

Arne, that's what I thought. The guy on the phone said they have everything changed but they just haven't had time to update the site. Pretty poor excuse.

Yeah, I ordered by phone and had no problems. The prices on their website are from 2003 and have nearly doubled since then. The guy I talked to said they were in the process of updating the website.
  4. Trying to get the left dogleg repaired. The Tabco replacement just doesn't want to cooperate. The right went on fine. Gonna have to do a little metal massaging to get it to work. Oh what fun!!

I know what you mean Bruce. I'm the knucklehead here this time. Tabco's 800# works fine and I got the parts ordered. No need for the carbs yet. Brent

I've been trying to order some replacement metal for my '78 and Tabco's website won't let me place an order. Tried to call and the recording said the number was disconnected. Anyone heard anything about this? Brent
  7. Got the rust repairs done to the right front shock tower and to the reinforcement panel that rusted out in the right front inner wheel well. Now on to the left dogleg and the two lower quarter panels. I think I see a light at the end of the rust repair tunnel.
  8. Just about finished welding in a new passenger floor pan. Now time for a little grinding.

If its Starlings you're having problems with, the only thing to do is to either continually tear down their nests or to kill them. We have the same problem in our hanger at the airport. I finally got tired of cleaning bird droppings off the plane and came up with a new trick. I tore the nest down and bought some sticky rat traps. I set one of the traps on the beam where they were building the nest and the next day when I checked, the problem was taken care of. I have to repeat this process every year. Starlings are a plague.

I've seen the Desert Car Kings show. From what I've seen, they do pretty sketchy work. On their Ford F100 build, they found some nasty looking engine sitting out in the yard and used it in the build. After they were done, they never showed their work under the hood. The under carriage was also still greasy and nasty looking. Definitely not Overhaulin type work.

I saw the preview today. I think I'm gonna be sick. Hopefully the two cars are total rust buckets, but I kinda doubt it.

I've been a member there since about '99 or '2000 but don't post alot. Great site but all the new advertisements are a pain. Long live Tony D. !!!!
  13. Walked over and said hello to my car. She sits suspended on the rotissoire. Hope to have all the metal work done so I can start getting ready for paint this summer. Also put up 3 suspended 4x8 plywood shelves over the garage doors to clear some of the clutter in the garage. This week, I plan on putting up shelves on two walls of the garage and then build a new work bench and cabinets. Once it warms up, the garage floors are going to get painted. It's gonna be nice when its done and the spousal unit likes that some of the clutter is gone.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I think the kid may be coming this weekend and if he does, we'll have to see what we can find. You guys are a valuable resource. Brent

Thanks for the additional info. I'll have my son give them a call and see if he can get in. Oh, and by the way, the last time I drove over to visit, I made it in almost 5hrs flat. Of course I was driving my 370z and might have been exceeding the posted speed limit by just a smidge, . I think its about 330 miles. Fun drive though.

He lives just of Colorado Blvd and Colfax. Sucks that I'm 5 hrs away and can't help him work on the car.

Hey guys, I've got a son in Denver with a '90 240sx that is giving him trouble lately. For a while it would die everytime he stopped at a light unless he kept it idling around 1500 rpm. Now its just running really rough when it's cold. He has to keep it idling high until it warms up and then it runs fine. The car has the stock KA24e I believe. Do any of you Denver area guys know of a reputable Nissan/Datsun mechanic that I could send him to see. Thanks for the help. Brent

Be glad you didn't go to Rock Springs. Desolate up there. The food is the one thing I definitely miss about home. I also owned a Z31 back when I got out of college but it had to go when the twins showed up. I've got a '78z now that totally disassembled and a '09 370z that's put away for the winter. Enjoy the site. Brent

Hey Zack, welcome to the site. Good to see another Louisiana boy onboard. I'm originally from Sulphur but I'm in Utah now. Great site with great people and tons of good info. Brent
  20. I've had my 370z for 1 1/2 yrs and love it. I've driven the 350z and really like the car but the 370z is a big improvement in most aspects. The fit and finish of the interior is superior. The handling is on par with the 350 if not better. Power wise, the 370 feels alot quicker than the 350, but thats just what my butt dyno says. My only complaint with the 370 is the quality of the paint. Its garbage. bugs and bird dropping eat right through the clear coat in no time. Overall, I'm glad I waited for the 370 vs the 350.

Shade, I love the 370Z. No complaints about anything but the seats. The bolsters dig into my back and thighs. Right now I'm looking into aftermarket seats that may be more comfortable. If that doesn't work, she's going down the road and I'll find something else. As for comparing to the 350Z, I've only driven the 350Z a few times but the 370Z is a huge step forward. The interior is a huge improvement over all the hard plastic in the 350Z. She handles like she's on a rail and I'm still running everything in stock form. I'd love to slap the Stillen supercharger on the car, but that will wait until I get the seat situation figured out.

I've got a '78 and fit fine. I'm 6'4" and have a longer upper body but don't have problems. I also fit fine in my '79 280zx and '84 300zx. I've got a '09 370z and it has the least room of all the Z's I've owned. It also has the most uncomfortable seats. Just my 2 cents. Brent

grantf, thanks or the advice. I just finished replacing my first dogleg. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. It took lots for finessing to get it to fit right. I agree about just replacing only the metal thats bad. I think I'll have to slowly piece the damaged metal together thats behind the exterior lower quarter panel. Gonna be tedious for sure.

I'm in the process of taking on rust repairs on my '78 and need some advice. I have the replacement panels from Tabco for the lower quarter panels, but I also have rust repairs that needs to be made to the inner quarter panels that are below the bumper mounting points. Does anyone make replacement panels for this area or am I going to have to fab these areas? All suggestions appreciated. Brent
