Need a shop to look at my Z in L.A.
That's the thing, Covina is considered a really safe neighborhood. I guess car thieves look around anywhere, though. Yeah, please you all should take some precaution to keep your Z's, especially with all of the new popularity in all of the new video games that have the Z in it.

Z Stolen this Morning in LA County, CA
Don't think that wasn't the first thought on my mind. But if he garaged it, what then? And he probably had a friend store it for him if he took it anyway. He lives kind of far to do a routine check drive by also, but you never know. I'm just hoping the police will find it in one piece (and with more than one piece on the chassis, not just the frame...) Thanks for the thought.

Z Stolen this Morning in LA County, CA
Thanks to all. Yeah, I posted the VIN on top of the thread with the license. Man, I hope I don't get it back like that... You would think an old classic like that wouldn't be a common steal for parts. I'm hoping they just took it for a joyride and then left it by the side of a road somewhere. And I get sad beause the Z forum became my favorite site, and I spent all day on here (just ask my wife). Well, I'm still going to get on everyday, As far as I'm concerned, I'm still a Z owner, and if I don't get Victoria back, I might be able to afford another Z in maybe less than a year. "It's going to be a long winter" -Timothy Dalton in American Outlaws. Again, thanks to all who are keeping a watch, I REALLY appreciate it. Again, most noticable thing on the car is the Pop-top t-top, and you shouldn't see it repainted, it had a brand new reddish brown paint job on it.

Z Stolen this Morning in LA County, CA
So I just got home from work about a half hour ago to find that the 1978 280z t-top that I bought about a month ago and have spent a ton of money on was just stolen. The picture of her is in my avatar and the paint job is new stock color, with black brand new reupholstered leather seats and new carpet, not to mention a ton of other stuff that I bought to restore it. Anyway, I don't hold out much hope except that the engine needed a lot of work and they might abandon it somewhere, but if anyone sees it for sale, I'll check back on this thread for any tips. I spent months looking for just that year and condition; it was my dream car. License plate 5UKK201 Color is reddish brown, I think it's officially wine red. Original 78 bumpers Pop-top t-top that opens to the rear and don't come off. Stolen from Covina, California, 91723 VIN: HLS30-428278 THE DREAM IS GONE :(:(:(:(

Need a shop to look at my Z in L.A.
I need to get my 78 up to "daily driver" condition, which it almost is, but I need a good shop somewhere near me that won't charge an arm and a leg for a possible engine rebuild or head rebuild. Anyone know of any good spots? I've normally used the same mechanic for the last 4 cars I've had, but I really want to take care of the Z with someone who knows Z's and won't charge too much. I'm in Covina, 91723, CA. Thanks to anyone who can help. Money is an issue, so maybe someone out there in Los Angeles County has a good mechanic that they've trusted their Z to. Since I just got the Z, I also need to have someone do a bumper to bumper inspection on it to tell me what I need to replace. Again, I don't trust my usual mechanic for this, and he doesn't really do bumper to bumper diagnostics anyway.

Cars of the future
I like that Benz. There's something about those headlights. And what was with that flashy wheelchair? Where are you supposed to use that thing? What a waste...

free image hosting!
It shot mine over in about 2 seconds, maybe you should try again?

Gt-r
No, you didn't answer my question, but good guesses. GT only stands for one thing. Zbane already pm'd me the answer. Thanks for the try, though. Look it's not a big deal, it was just a quick question on the GT-R thread

random pictures of the Z
Very nice pics, I like the second one from the top. Great lighting and backdrop.

Yeah, I put the first pic of a Z up! Hey, I was looking around, and it's a pretty cool sight! Can't wait to see more Datsuns on there!

Looks pretty cool. The image size restrictions are a bit tight, though. Is that just me?

Gt-r
No thanks, I only had a quick question, since the car everyone is drooling over here had GT in the title. Don't want to start a whole thread over what needs only one answer. Besides, I thought GT stood for Gas Turbine? Whatever, don't bother answering, don't want to impose on the almight exclusivity of the Thread.

What do you think? not to bad for $400.00

Gt-r
Hey, quick question, a little off topic, but is the s30 a GT? I see that on some cars like it's a good thing, and I saw on a youtube 240z video that the s30 was a GT. If it is, how many cars compared to others are GTs, and what's the benefit? If a car isn't a GT, then what is it?

Few pix from the Z meet in Richmond, VA today. "Tribute to Eiji's car"
Very nice pictures. Man, the more time I spend on this forum, the more nice cars I see and the more I want to get my 78 in show condition. Some day...

Dash Repair Process/Pictures
Great job! I would never have thought of all that, and for the money, that's a good price. I have to fix cracks in my dash that the previous owner put padded upholstery over, which makes no sense, but I'd like do to do a fix like that like that from under. Thanks for the thread, very helpful.

so I'm planning to get an S30 Z! 240 or 280?
Maybe I should sell him mine, it's getting kind of expensive to fix, and it needs a head job, I think. Just had a lot done other than that...

Chevy 250 or 400 for my 78?
:stupid: My Dad has a very nice rebuilt Chevy 400 in his 59 Chevy Apache and he's going to put something else in there, so he said I could have the Chevy 400 engine for free if I wanted it. I currently have a 78 280z and I want to drop a big V8 in there, but I don't really know how much work or money it's going to be. Can someone give me an idea? The real question is, since I likely need a head job on my in-line 6 stock motor that will cost around 700$ (guessing, that's what another guy on the forum paid), should I fix the stock engine or just put the Chevy 400 in there? And after that, my dad says that since the bore is bigger on the 400, there's no room for a water jacket around the cylinders, and the 400 heats quickly with no cheap way to cool it down. He said the 400 is for torque, not speed, but I don't plan on racing my Z, just make it a semi-daily driver. Should I wait for a Chevy 350 to come along cheap? And then there's the tranny that'll need to be switched out...
