  1. This year went by too fast. So who's going, and what are you bringing?

This is what people have insurance for. Even though I'm sure he's a nice guy, I would go get the work done at a good body shop, regardless of how much it's going to cost his insurance company. You deserve to have the car put into the exact condition it was in. Given the cars age, i would take it one of the Z shops around here, not a general mechanic. I'm sure the guy will understand, take it from a guy who's been in A LOT of car accidents (totaled my first 3 cars-not at fault).
  3. Paint looks great from the picture. I live one or two cities over from you, any chance I could get the name of that Z mechanic?

LMAO! But he wasn't driving a Z, right?
  5. Wow, now that is one good looking 2+2.
  6. Family car? Do you mean like an S30 2+2? Seriously, me wife wants to trade in our 02 Mits Lancer for one. I'm all for that, and the two kids will fit in the back (baby car seats).
  7. Well sure, if you want to be mature about it... But what happens if you mature and/or get married and have kids, then that maturity makes you decide to get a sensible minivan or some such rot. The dream goes on the backburner until it's a distant memory, and the cold, dark world smashes to bits any inclination to venture from your safe, set path until you finally reach an age where your kids have moved out and you find that you now have the time to fill the void with a classic Z. When you find one, you feel the rush of the wind in your face, the speed and agility, you take in the classic curves and the looks of people you pass, and as you grip the steering wheel rounding a curve and then rocket to 60 miles an hour, you want to enjoy having waited to earn this thrill, this love, after all your years of responsilbility and sensibility, but no, instead, the thought rushes through your head, over and over again until it makes you sick... Now why in the hell didn't I do this when I was in college? I deeply respect the opinion of Zedyone, just offering another opinion. Please gamble responsibly Also, may I suggest a 77 or 78. Classic curves with a slightly bigger engine. 240s are great, too, though. Next one for me will be one of those.

    Yeah, looks great!

I saw another breast cancer shirt (apparently for a walk-a-thon fundraiser) that said "Walkers for knockers" I still laugh when I think about the "save the ta-tas" bumper sticker, though. That's funnier.

My first lot of good and inexpensive replacement parts came from blackdragonauto, including the antenna that I have on there now. THe car looks good, the biggest thing that sticks out is that bump on her nose. All the rust is fixable, but how's your spare wheel compartment and your battery tray for rust?

78 is a good year. How is the rust? Any pictures?

I'll try to be there, with the Z, of course, but not for show.
  13. How slow, out of curiosity? How would she measure? If the tires were hitting the fenders on moderate dips but was fine on flat ground without dips, how would she know if that were the springs or the struts?

Hey Dave , I think I found a video of that skit. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=8972724

My wife and I were driving through Covina and we saw this Z parked in front of a cafe and thought of this thread. We drove home, got the camera, and when we got back to the cafe, the owner was pulling out of his parking space. We got a good picture of his orange paint job as he was speeding off. He said it's a 71 with a Skyline engine (if you couldn't tell by the label on the front quarter). The color that you see in the picture if fairly accurate of the color in real life, although the computer did take away a bit of the shine. My wife spotted the car and loved the color so much that she made me speed home to get the camera! enjoy!
  17. That is an absolutely incredible story. Made my day.
  18. I would keep the engine and find a 77 or 78 rolling shell to put it into. =)
  19. It would be nice to own an "expensive" sports classic, but doesn't that mean that the price of parts and/or service will go up, too? Not sure I would want to make that trade.
  20. This is an old post. I decided to keep the stock motor that's now been rebuilt. Thanks anyway, no more replies needed.

I've heard that joke with OJ Simpson and Nicole Brown, with OJ shooting the horse. But either way, I saw the title with the words "happy marriage" and knew that had to be in the joke section. Funny joke.
  22. I know the prices for interior panels vary dramatically on Ebay, so I just wait until there's some within my price range. The big question for you, though: Are the radios actually being sold at the price of 350.00? I know I watch some items just to see what they will go for, and more often than not, the ridiculously priced items just don't sell at the end, and the sellers will relist it at the same price. This of course only pertains to Ebay, since I have no idea how much business companies like MSA or other Z part sellers get.
  23. On the page where they list the replacement caps they switch some of the labeling for the 4 and 5 lug wheels caps, too. Just a couple of typos, I'm guessing. On another note, I just bought a set of shelby cal 500 5-slots for 75 bucks a couple of months ago and they're great! They change the whole look of the car!

    Hilarious!

I had the same problem, and it was a faulty master cylinder. After I changed it, the brake pedal didn't go nearly as far down. The car, just like yours, had no problem stopping, and I could get the wheels to lock as well, it just didn't feel right. It had to touch the floor before the brakes engaged with any significant power. Changed the master cylinder and it works fine. This is only one opinion though. Brakes are the most important thing on a car, so it would be good to check out all of the advice on this thread.
